- hello, in this video I'll show you step by step how to build a innovative coffee maker.
I am Italian and I immensely love the good taste of espresso coffee.
Today it is a recycle of an old motorcycle and a gun to build in a coffee machine.
it works thanks to the pressure of a lever
the boiling water passes through the coffee powder.
you can push more times the coffe or the water to get a soft or strong taste.
hope you enjoy the video!

I love the creativity, probably not the greatest cup of coffee but the design shows a lot of ingenuity.
media offline at 5:40 and 6:10
LOL GUESS HE DIDN'T PREVIEW IT!
Low-key thought it was net neutrality shit
+
What causes that?
The editor Adobe Premiere displays this message when it cant find a specific clip. The clip could have been renamed, or moved, etc. It could have been something as simple as the clip still on the memory card, and everything would have been good, but he could have removed the memory card before rendering, resulting in "media offline"... basically any number of ways that it can happen, and Premiere will try to notify you of offline clips, but it doesn't always. Add that to the fact that you watch your own video a few dozen times while making it, once it's finally done, you sometimes just want to export, upload and move on the the next. ;)
That would make a nice decoration for a coffee shop or a factory-styled restaurant
Yes somewhere near the trash pickup would look good or maybe a doorstop.
@@silvermediastudio 😂😂😂😂
this is sick , why people like him doesnt have a better life ???!!!! no words to exresso my self what u ve done 👏👏👏 something i will never see on tv , u could build a comapingn or a franschise to make your work stronger and more people will apreciate your creations!!!!
grazie!! actually is Very difficoult...
I love this so much, absolutely beautiful! Reminds me of a strietman wall mounted espresso maker. Yet the ingenuity and importance placed on repurposing materiels reminds me of kees van der westen`s original machines which he crafted with reused parts. A wonderfully executed concept
The design is really cool! The only problem is that the engine piece probably works as a heatsink, so i think that water is not infusing coffee at the right temperature
Your perception of 'very precise' and mine are VERY different :D
True, i'm guite sure he doesn't have a lazer cutter in there.
hahhahah imagine if i have ho precision at all!
this is italian precision mio amico
Your definition of "perception" is different from my perception of definition.
@@Dave-lr2wo 🤣
As it has been said as a concept and project this is cool. And well done, but if the aim was espresso than there needs to be pressurization from the water to the grounds. Around 9 bar (9x atmosphereic pressure at sea level)
Also the grounds would need to be properly tamped in addition to help with the pressure and formation of crema.
But if your into just any cup of coffee this will do fine.
Grayson Phillips
The machine would easily be able to do 9 bar.
dude seriously? He made a coffee machine from a freaking bike motor who cares how many bars this thing is it's awesome! La Pavonis use way under 9 bars and it's still an amazing cup. Moka pots and aeropresses also are way less than 9 bar but still amazing. Is it "authentic espresso"? Maybe not, but you know what rules are meant to be broken and the scaa can shove it lol.
You can easily make 9 bars of pressure with this machine, the only 2 real problems i see with it are first that the engine is like a large heatsink, so water would be colder than expected, and the second but most important one is that he is not using a gasket on the bayonet lock between the portafilter and the grouphead so water is geting spilled every where and in consecuence pressure is lost. But with a lever you can easily make 9 bars of pressure, if you want i can do the math for you but trust me that it is entirly posible :)
If you add gasoline you no longer need to pump the espresso machine by hand.
Dave M But it idles at around 1400 cup per minute. That's a lot of coffee.
It worked !
Lol
Add VTEC
😂😂
That cylinder heatsink is good if like cold coffee :)
zapro_dk the cylinder is lined with cast iron, cold rusty coffee.
colin edley cylinders are made from aluminum not iron
psaris7 most of the time it's made out of cast iron. Sometimes it's made out of the same material as the engine block (Aluminum silicon alloy)
But you can clearly see the difference between the materials, so it's most likely out of cast iron or iron
psaris7 the fins are aluminium, the liner of the cylinder is cast iron. It actually says so during the video when he has it in the lathe.

Fantastic use of savaged materials. Love it!
I'm really impressed once again!! I've been watching your videos for like 3 years. I made some of your "projects" and I really love them! Keep going you are my favourite youtuber!! Greetings from Greece my friend
I love everything about this.
The grounds were perfect for the container,
The container was perfect for the machine...
A perfect solution for all your steam-punk or post apocalyptic needs. Everything just fits:)
I liked this video even though the precision you talk about was only in your imagination and you went to all the trouble to make such a good video but didnt check it before exported for missing assets.
The coffee wouldn't taste very good, but the process of making it would be fun. Looks cool 👍
I love the old engine cylinder as a coffee machine looks soo good very industrial loooking.
Awesome project. Very fun to watch you turn junk into working machines. You sir are a true craftsman. Bravo
Awesome design idea. Thank you 🙏
If I may offer some suggestions for a future build: it is probably a bad idea to use a heat sink for you water reservoir, as you want to extract using hot water between 92-96°c. This engine part, with fins, is designed to draw heat away, precisely what you don't want. So next time, you might want to use a smooth cylinder. Also, I wouldn't recommend running 2 shots off of a single puck.. I can imagine, the second shot would be extremely bitter.
Your coffee machine is full power
I just love people with ideas, garage-workshops and enough time. :)
The issue is that the water temperature drops way too much to get a descent espresso, because the parts distract and dissipate most of the heat in the process. You should try to submerge the whole gadget into a tank full of hot (92 °C) water. Or this will never be more than the handyman's coffee. Cool. Literally. And sour too.
I'm not even that keen on Coffee and not sure if I'd wanna drink from this or old Light Bulbs, but I love these re-purpose projects, they don't even make a dent in the amount of waste this world produces but the attitude and inspiration spreads and continues like a giant wave. this is great and it looks awesome, just as entertaining to watch as King of Random, Colin Furze, Make it Extreme and Roman Ursuhack who I also like to watch :-)
another amazing build.. keep up the good work. Always fun to see youre builds
this looks perfect for a self serve espresso station on a bike shops
A hydraulic jack might work well, and those are easy to find an cheap, particularly used ones. The advantage with a jack is the outer shell can be filled with hot water so the equipment does not cool down the shot so much. Maybe even better? A stove-top pressure cooker (available for $10- $20 at thrift shops) modified with a tube that goes into the water and a valve. When the pressure in the pot reaches, say, 20 bar, open the valve, which is attached to s standard brew-group (i.e. 1:06). That should shoot the boiled water through the brew-group at about the right pressure/temperature.
Awesome, I'll bet his wine made from a press made with urinal parts is just as delicious!
Nice Ciofeca machine! Bravo, bwll'idea e bel lavoro!
Wish you brazed the water funnel instead of glue it. Fun vid
Awesome will try with brush cutter machine
A home made eurpiccola!! beautiful! This is true espresso in it's og form 👌
Please make a diy coffee roaster! Your work is so awesome.
Amazing. Now I need one made from a Thunderstroke 111 to satisfy my massive daily caffeine requirement. :)
A very cool looking machine.
AMAZING IDEA
I like how your mind works..Very Creative!
the heat of the water disperses ... what a good plan hahahahaha. optically, a beauty ... in short cold like a beautiful woman
*G E N I U S. build a La Pavoni Europiccola too please! steampunk style.*
fuck yeah
Very interesting. Kool build.
you do understand those require the water to be under pressure right? this is just a french press, not espresso machine.
Yes! Exactly
SingingintheDark it s funny because in france we call those kind of machine "italian coffee maker "^^
Is not french press... the grounds are tamped, and yes, water is under a lot of pressure, like in any other open boiler machine, check Strietman CT-1 for example.
renatoa those were not tampered grounds of coffee. It's like drip coffee
Presurized portafilter, perhaps...
Awesome. I had been thinking about making such a machine but I don't drink coffee!
Really cool... really should preheat that with a torch or something on the outside I bet that was cold AF.
can/do you also do the conversion the other way? espresso machine to small engine?
Looks Great !
How many bats of pressure are you making with that? It seems not to be enough seeing how easily the lever goes
If only I had a lathe. Or a bike engine. But I really like the idea. If refined, I’m sure you could make a decent espresso.
The creamy taste in your coffee is from the Lead from the motor!
Why not use a similar principle but put a valve in so you can pressurize it first? That is a neat idea but coffee looks terrible.
I think it's a nice idea... but i wouldn't drink that.... no crema, there is major leaking on the top... no pressure gauge... the coffee runs through to fast etc. and the bottom tray has no function at all it's just esthetic
we also don't know how fresh his coffee is. pre-ground coffee is awful for espresso brewing
wow so creative!
Great hidden compartment by the water tank
al minut 7:32 ho capito tante cose che non mi tornavano nel video...peccato saresti un genio!!!
great project
Will it produce nice crema?
This rocks man!!
Creative man......super top
Like he said is that a vibrating saw or otherwise know reciprocating saw? Or does it have some other name for it?
Where would someone look for the part that the portafilter connects to? What is that even called?
It's called a group head.
@@PEEINFACE You are AWESOME!
Awesome invention. Keep up the good work!
Wow that is incredible!
maybe, you have to add o ring rubber silicon on the piston,, so it can be pump down the water without any leaking up,, when you press the water, make sure that the pressure produce 3-5 bar, and make sure there's no leaking, so lock it with silicon rubber,, but, where did you get the portafilter lock/group head? did you made itself? so hard to find it bro,,
Like your videos 😀👍♥️ Great job
Awesome my friend. I love it! Continuate cosi.
Love your strange inventiveness!
For all those ranting and doubting about this machine, please check Strietman CT-1, especially the price, compare with this, and think again...
Congrats to the author !
Wondering where I can get a portafilter and group ring mount, to make myself one...
Woww ..out of boxx... thankss broo
Keep in mind silicone may only be nontoxic at room temperature. If it's heated with hot water idk if that's non toxic.
Hey... Nice machine man. put a check valve in the water line to prevent the return when doing pressure. Well, that's what I would do! 😋
instead of connecting the two parts with screws , you can put a thread in the cylinder
You should talk to Ducati about making a Ducati French press. That would sell so well in Italy and worldwide.
Love it! Very ingenious , looks great too.
Nice video, 😁
Make sure you don't forget the food grade silicone oil or silicone grease, ya 👍
Incredible i know hoy can make ir even better
wow,great products
coffee with gasoline aroma 😁
but, its awesome diy video 👍
Amazing idea, but The 3 different metals will corrode themselves away, because they are incontact.and I think a rubber plunger at the end of the piston will give you higher pressures.
I love 💘 your accent!
which is the name of the donor espresso machine from which the assembly group plate-portafiler comes ? Thank you !
Very cool
You have good idea for admiration, but you need to add bit more details to achieve some of goals and to fulfil some of norms for one espresso machine. I wish you good luck in improoving your project.
Very cool, I'll do it too.
Good idea and 2nd good idea is using a door Handel with my machine
AHahah, great build! But let's be honest, This espresso can't be good :p
Hobi Basket Channel of course, he didn’t tamp it
True. Espresso is important in international culture. Each culture has something like coffee or espresso but with different meanings and ways to make it.
@@costet534 he didn't tamp it, he didn't warm up the brew head firs, and should use ruber o ring to seal piston tightly against cylinder.
Seriously, no pressure gauge to make sure he's at 9 bars. That seal isn't great for the piston. The thermal mass of that that engine block plus a literal heatsink can't be good for temp control. Also he didn't tamp it or declump it, but that's not on the machine.
Al's I imagine over time snapping the wood given how it's built
love it. thats my next project!
Isn't that, a bit too much coffee powder, for just one espresso ?
Did you keep the steel sealing rings? Wouldn't some Teflon sealing be better, bc they don't rust?
thats the amout that italians use for one espresso
Even more than that is used since real espresso is tampered
Rulof, I love your videos! I also just wanted to mention there is a Premiere error @ 5:40
TheAmigops i like the way how did u refered to this problem..respect
if he makes the reservoir larger he can pump the lever up and down to make more cofee
Is it producing enough pressure?
Doubt it
Yes, it does, the lever has at least 1:10 ratio, and the force on the handle is in the 15-20 kg ballpark, thus 200 kg at piston, with 45 mm diameter this led to 9-11 bar, how is ideal
renatoa if it's correct, I thank you.
You are welcome.
Yes, it's correct, 1 bar = 1kg force per square cm
45 mm piston diameter led to 16 sqcm area, thus 160 kg force needed for 10 bars.
There are already commercial machines like Pavoni, Strietman CT-1, or the more recent Flair espresso, using same principles, and figures were already been demonstrated for long time on forums like homebarista.
What cleaner was that ?
Noooo pobre cilidro, uno de esos se consigue caro. De todas formas, buena manualidad 👍
Awsome idea!
I have to visit cervia again. Just bathing in the sea and playing arcade games.
The sweet taste might be coolant from blown head gasket and the creamy taste you might be tasting is from the blown head gasket when the gasket is blown it mixes coolant with oil which makes a frothy and creamy texture and taste and your piston ring is worn when a piston ring is worn it burns oil that's why it taste sweet and creamy when you made it into a coffee maker.
@@Makeloafnotwar I'm just kidding I was just attracting car guys.
SOOOOOO COOOL!!
U have some editing problems rulof!! 5:50
Nice one, very creative bravo, can't wait for the MK2 though ?
I just have one question: how hard is that wood?
Are you still alive after drinking motor engine coffee? Truly the coffee of choice for a petrolhead
awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
スゲーなエンジン流用か!
でもオイルの臭い染み付いてそうだな
Really inspiring man !!
Amazing, I will do it later
hahhahahahaahhahaa this is awesome!
well Italians invented Vespa and Espresso ;) So why no combine the two by an Italian :D Excellent!
Vespresso
Better use fine 95 octane espresso to get best results
