@@MVDBR stock rear on the 390 is 45 teeth , I ordered the 42 just for an experiment as well as ordered the 14 for the front but the 14 still hasnt shown up . With the 15 - 42 its got more of a roadbike gearing feel but when you rev it wow it builds speed quickly as they are a little engine that likes to rev. Im just having a play around as hate the way its so jerky in the lower speeds and this smoothed the whole bike out at all speeds n gears and holds the 100km/hr better rather than constantly having to adjust the throttle cause it drops 10 to 12km per hour 😊 Cheers man keep up the awesome vids my shout when I get up your neck of the woods 👍
@@anthonydendle4768 yeah shit 15/42 wouldn't be much good off road 😬 Frickin fuel injection jerkiness the T7 has that issue as well, but hey I still wouldn't go back to carby days 😅
I hate the idea of large nuts to secure the front sprocket, I just use a circlip on my DR 650, works a treat, there is no side forces working on the sprocket so why so much overkill baffles me. I think I will keep using chain lube, 35-40, 000 kilometres out of a chain on my DR is good in my books, I change the front sprocket at around 20k and keep it lubed and never clean it. The idea with the chain lube is to get it into the rollers not the pins, the rollers contact the sprocket teeth and spin, when you don’t lube the rollers they don’t spin as freely leading to faster wear on the teeth and the rollers, hence shorter chain life. Chain lube also makes the chain quieter, but you have to spray it on a hot chain, this makes the lube thinner and it penetrates the rollers. But I am old school and worked as a motorcycle courier for 20 plus years, so I wanted good mileage out of a chain.
Yeah mate each to their own, most people will just keep doing what they've always done (I'm one of them). There is always the argument that chain lubes attract dirt which in turn creates a grinding paste on the chain which negates any kind of lubrication effect, and that theory does make a lot of sense to me. There are way too many variables when it comes to trying to measure chain wear but in my experience, adding messy lubes doesn't increase chain & sprocket life enough to be worth the cost.
To undo the front sprocket nut (after trying other ways) I used a approx 3foot scaffold tube offcut over the breaker bar for leverage then got my fat mate to sit on the bike with his foot on the brake, bingo ! don't leave it in gear it might fcuck the gearbox up.
Yeah nah never leave it in gear 😬 The rear brakes on the T7 are pretty shit, even cranked down till the pedal was hitting the bash plate the rear wheel was still moving 😵
