Just like, lawns, and gardens, you... we learn everybodys right, and everybodys wrong. How do you know when an album hits home to anyone right? My fav album is probably not many peoples either, and so wot. If Joe Rocks Your Soul, then I hope you find lotsa golden tunes posted of his shows. 🇨🇦👊🏻👨🏻🌾💖😉👌🙏
The Album was special no doubt. The fact these songs still kick after 40 years speaks volumes because time is the greatest judge. Joe Jackson is a phenom and legend and chameleon all in one.
Huge shout out to Sue Hadjopoulos whose conga / percussion work is so, so tight and in the pocket on Joe's "Night and Day" really nice to see her live here.
My tastes run the gamut from Aaron Copeland to Zappa and everything in between, and "Look Sharp" by Joe Jackson and The Pretenders debut are among the GREATEST records of all time!
I didn't realise it at the time when I first heard Joe around this time as a kid, but the guy had a fantastic jazz and latin influence in his music. People thought of him as a new wave angry young man, but he was much cleverer than that.
Joe Jackson lived in NYC during the early 1980s when Latin music was really hot. It influenced his music at that time. Sadly, this music has never really become mainstream in USA music. This much to my disappointment as a Latino from Brooklyn ~ I have enjoyed _salsa_ all my life and thought that it would be far more popular and influential in mainstream Rock than it became.
I was a bus boy in a Club Called The Diamond, in Toronto Canada & he played there 1 night. It was an awesome show, real pro setup, good crowd. The band was just "Is she really goin out w him", and "steppin out" to me, and I had no Idea how awesome he was till that night. ❤
Thanks for uploading this! I remember sitting in front of my parent's tv set in April 1983. Totally flashed of the band and its music. And King Sunny Ade with his band was to come...
This was supposed to be the New Wave style of music into the 1980's. Why didn't other groups other then Elvis Costello follow suit in this style. ? It was so original good DAMN I miss those times.
Sue Hajopoulos. Not her first time time playing percussion. She also plays the flute. One thing you can always count on with Joe, he'll always bring a solid compliment of expert musicians with him to the studio and the stage. Always.
I was in Germany in 1978. Joe Jackson played at this little club. He got into a Row with some of the audience members and stormed off the stage. I don't even think he played 15 minutes. It was very disappointing because I really like his music!
Big shot, tell you what, tell me what goes on around here Go on and get me in the corner, smoke my cigarettes and drink my beer Tell me that this world is no place for the weak Then you can look me in the eye and tell me if you see a trace of fear You gotta look sharp You gotta look sharp And you gotta have no illusions Just keep going your way looking over your shoulder Okay, what you say, tell me what they're wearing this year Go on and laugh at me, 'cause you don't see that I got something going right here Say I'm just a dreamer, say I'm just a kid Well, ace, shut your face, maybe you will see or hear You gotta look sharp You gotta look sharp And you gotta have no illusions Just keep going your way looking over your shoulder Big shot, thanks a lot, gotta go, it's getting late I got a date with my tailor now, thanks for putting me so straight Tell me how they rob me blind on every street But check your watch and wallet now before I go and you're too late You gotta look sharp You gotta look sharp And you gotta have no illusions Just keep going your way looking over your shoulder Yeah~*~*~*~*~*~.
My Gawd … makes me regret not seeing Joe Jackson live. Joe’s music abled me through high school. Perfect blend of anxiety and fcuk you to all the others.
@@rmartin7558 you take sugar in your coffee ,?salt on your pepper? Recordings are great live performance blows them away for me always has and always will
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but front-to-back, I consider this one of the best albums of all time.
same point of view
Agree dude 😎
Solid.

I loved that album as a drummer it rocked... I would have to say when I played it in my dorm room at UMASS. All my neighbors heard it loud and hard.

Funny thing. I always felt the additional percussion was massively uneccessary.
She's am,azing.
Not into it, no need fir a cowbell on thar tune

Must agree Sue Squampadompoulis is absolutely killing on this track cowbellus Maximus 4 evaj peace n I’m out.
This era of music was the very best IMHO
This Joe Jackson is sooo good
This album was very good, but earlier music was better.
The first two Joe Jackson albums were the best! Love those reggae rhythms.
My tastes run the gamut from Aaron Copeland to Zappa and everything in between, and "Look Sharp" by Joe Jackson and The Pretenders debut are among the GREATEST records of all time!
We should have coffee and whisky. You are my doppelganger (possibly).
Fuckin'-A!!
Graham Maby is one of the top bassist ever created: )
the best for me.
he's the best I've ever heard and he's stayed loyal to Joe and is the anchor of Joe Jackson Band!
Yes, he is. Accurate.
No two Maybes about it!
Absolutely true
I saw Joe Jackson back in the 80s. It was the Golden Age of jazz-inflected, new wave pop music. It's worth being old now to have been young back then.
Man I love this Joe Jackson Band especialmente la chica de las Baquetas !! Excelentes Musicos !!
Most people don't realize (at least these days) that Joe was classically trained.
Amazing. Rolling Stone magazine said this album was 98 out of 100 regarding debut albums.
Dude, this video is pure gold.
you wrote "DUDE" ? wot's your problem? you grow up in the 80's ?
Joe Jackson was one of my favorite shows to go to. He's great live.

Same here!! 😁
Gawd I love the drummer and bass player riffs of this album! So good I feel energy rushing up my spine and feel ecstasy!
I think of this song every time I put a nice suit on and head out for the night
Fantastic post!!! Sounds great with percussion added. She's excellent and so is the drummer.
Sue Hadjopoulos on percussion.
She’s amazing - I thought she was Sheila E
Haven't heard this concert before til now, love the drums & percussion solos!! 😀
Joe Jackson so great! His band fantastic 😍
❤ absolutely phenomenal 🎉

Great song from a great album!
this is great! But the release date makes me feel old. percussion is fantastic.
What an awesome song!
Best drum and percussion solo ever ! The lady is fantastic !

Tell me that this world is no place for the weak
Then you can look me in the eye and tell me if you see a trace of fear
You gotta look sharp
You gotta look sharp
And you gotta have no illusions
Just keep going your way looking over your shoulder
Okay, what you say, tell me what they're wearing this year
Go on and laugh at me, 'cause you don't see that I got something going right here
Say I'm just a dreamer, say I'm just a kid
Well, ace, shut your face, maybe you will see or hear
You gotta look sharp
You gotta look sharp
And you gotta have no illusions
Just keep going your way looking over your shoulder
Big shot, thanks a lot, gotta go, it's getting late
I got a date with my tailor now, thanks for putting me so straight
Tell me how they rob me blind on every street
But check your watch and wallet now before I go and you're too late

You gotta look sharp
And you gotta have no illusions
Just keep going your way looking over your shoulder

All around great performance by JJ and the band.
I loved Joe from the very start. Favourite albums Blaze of Glory, Laughter and Lust and Body and Soul, but really they are all excellent.
My Gawd … makes me regret not seeing Joe Jackson live. Joe’s music abled me through high school. Perfect blend of anxiety and fcuk you to all the others.
