One of my very favorite episodes. I always loved the ones with Paul Lynde. I read somewhere that when he was a guest on the show,he and Liz Montgomery constantly made each other crack up.
I wondered how many comments I could go down before some intellectual giant mentioned this. Congratulations Sweetie, third comment. How original. Off to count the next one, in the mean time, think of something on your own.
I got to 3 more. You people are just repeating what everyone in the world already knows. It’s as repetitive as saying Serena was played by Lizzie under the credit of Pandora Spocks. Now isn’t that original?

Yes, and they even say the same lines! The ILL chocolate factory scene was also parodied in a Saved By The Bell episode Screech's Spaghetti Sauce. And more recently The Nick Show Side Hustle also did a variant of that iconic scene in the episode Make A Mutt.
Okay, now a little bit of production geekdom: this is the first and only scene in the history of Bewitched that used a multi-camera set-up to film the action, similar to how a sitcom is taped before a live audience. Traditionally, an actor's lines are shot with one camera, then all scenes edited together. Given the slapstick nature of this scene, it made sense to catch it likely in one take and the production crew did an amazing job filming it and keeping it flowing flawlessly. And kudos, of course, to the actors.
Wow, Thats why this was hysterical !!! very interesting as this is my favorite episode and i laughed so hard. I wonder if when the banana fell on the floor , if that was Ab-libbed ??
Another bit of geekdom: This scene was a deliberate shout-out to the famous scene in "I Love Lucy" where Lucy and Ethel had to keep up with the chocolates at the chocolate factory -- and now that I think of it, there are also definite elements of the famous grape-stomping scene, too!
I totally remember watching this episode when I was 5 years old. Of course I loved it but i HATED the mess they made. It reminded me of the mess the Cat In The Hat made with that pink stuff. I didn't even get in trouble as a kid for making messes but messes always gave me anxiety lol! They still do.
Paul Lynde was never short of work in the 1960's, was he. So many sitcom appearances! Certain actors just keep turning up in that era, like Vito Scotti and Charles Lane.
Mabel Albertson, who played DARRIN'S mother, was hilarious. The stare she gives Aunt Clara in the episode MEETING THE PARENTS always has me in stitches😂😂(Season 1 or 2)!
@@jonathanpikecoleman8838 She was the perfect victim for a magical practical joke. In real life her brother was Jack Albertson, famous as Grandpa Joe in "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" and later in "Chico and the Man".
the double entendre of paul lynde/uncle arthur rolling huge (chocolate dipped) bananas into nuts is hysterical - oh to be working or visiting on the set the day they were filming this - the jokes & fun must have been off the chart - elizabeth/serena was very gay friendly & enjoyed a wicked joke & saucy language from time to time :)
I think Masek played the ice cream man on I Dream of Jeannie in an episode where Jeannie's locked in a safe. He'd take his little trolley around NASA and sell popsicles and such; Tony ended up borrowing the cart and disguising himself as the guy.
@KevinMike. As I was reading your comment, I had on of those "slap yourself on the forehead moments," I had "forgotten" that Elizabeth WAS Sabrina. No wonder Elizabeth was so good, she was two actresses in one!
LOL. Liz and her use of saucy language at times. I think it's in the book THE ESSENTIAL ELIZABETH MONTGOMERY, the author Herbie Pilato, cites two instances on PASSWORD where Liz accidentally used the f word and sh*t. If people want to see Liz as herself, check out PASSWORD from the 60s and PASSWORD PLUS from the late 70s and early 80s. She will crack you up. She had a wonderful personality andl sense of humor, according to those who knew her. They're out here on UA-cam. Finally, Liz said in an interview that Paul Lynde didn't like it when she dressed in the Serena outfits. She offered to loan them to him on any Saturday night. 🙂
Love the comedy, but there's also a serious point made in this scene. That American jobs are frequently a hellish nightmare of overwork and underpay. I won't mention any names.....haha.

Arthur and Serena should have had their own show 😂🤣
I agree
That would be hysterical

I can believe it
When Paul Lynde had workers at his house, he’d yell out to them “ take your shirts off ! I’ll pay extra !! “ 😝😝😂🤣
You can’t tell me they didn’t have fun filming this clip. 😁😁😁
I would have to say that Elizabeth Montgomery is such a good actress that you think it's another person playing her her relative Serena
True I literally forgot it was her tbh
....it was so realistic that I had a little crush on Serena. Tee Hee. 🤭
I was younger bk then n never knew. Wow I was stupid. ..I should have known

Do yourself a favor. Go find an episode of the Twilight Zone staring Charles Bronson and Elizabeth Montgomery.

" your not teaching the theory of relativity " Paul sure had a way with him!
I remember an episode where Uncle Arthur turns himself briefly into a skeleton singing a little ditty in front of Darren and Serena…..
Paul Lynde was the best. His wisecracks on Hollywood Squares were epic. Amazing he got away with so many of them in the 60's & 70's.
❤Paul lynde, oriental fast food, minute rice, ❤ cousin serena , I hear Elizabeth Montgomery husband like serena too, sexy voice &personality & outfits
People had a sense of humour in the 60's and 70's.
The “Big Dipper”joke was on I Love Lucy too. Lucy:”They used to call me the “Big Dipper”😂
Yep, The "big dipper", "I'm a dipper from way back", and "No room for levity, no matter how weak"...All borrowed from I Love Lucy.
This by far is my favorite episode ever!!! Paul Lynde is such a treasure, just love him!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️!!!!!!
Oh that’s Sheriff Mort Metzger from Murder, She Wrote dipping those bananas. So young there
Uncle Arthur and Aunt Clara were both great characters on the show.
This is a great scene, and a clear tribute to the hilarious chocolate factory scene in 'I Love Lucy'.

Great scenes. The boss here is Ron Masak aka Sheriff Mort Metzger from Murder She Wrote
Ron just passed. Really sad because he was another actor with such a great range.
One day I'm gonna binge watch all Serena eps! 😊
Maybe some intrepid you tuber will make a compilation of Serena scenes ... when she sings "I'll Blow You A Kiss On The Wind" for example...!
I think this was based on the I Love Lucy sketch when Lucy and Ethel worked in the chocolate factory. That and this is hilarious.
The bumbling police from Murder she wrote 😀 nice to see him in another role..
Thank you , I am scratching my head where I see him before
I could be wrong, but I remember the actor playing Uncle Arthur, Paul Lynde, being a similar type of character on I Dream Of Jeannie
He was salesman on I dream of Jeannie
The other guy looks familiar too
He was an I.R.S. Auditor on
I Dream of Jeannie.
He was also a driving instructor in Bewitched before he was cast as Uncle Arthur
They were both gay.
