My two cents: Oh, Mastodon! Neat! :) The opening riff sounds pretty similar to the original mix, to the point that I can't easily differentiate them. However, the drums sound more clear (0:10) when they kick off. Likewise, the massive riff that follows is less oppressive, with enough room to not crowd the singer and drums quite as much; I can hear between them, and the vocalist isn't nearly as smothered. He sounds in more in front of the guitars, instead of trapped inside them (0:21). The power chords sound less compressed and stuffy, too. The sludge tone remains, but somehow it's less congested than it was before. Similarly the snare and toms (0:31) are easier to make out; like the vocals, they're just easier to hear, more clear. But everything retains its volume and power. The same goes for the backup vocals (0:35). Most of all, I love the kick drum and how much more audible it is (0:44). Nice and punchy. The bass (0:54) sounds a little bit behind the guitars-still audible, but like it has a position on the stage instead of simply being everywhere. Everything repeats into the bridge, heralded by those lead fills (1:35). The original mix made them sound almost split in half, equally to the left and the right, but not as much in the middle. In your mix, if the rhythm section were toast then you've spread the leads evenly across. They also sit atop the rhythm section, so whenever the guitars send those massive riffs into the deep it actually sounds underneath the higher notes; the fact that the power chords are much less overbearing helps a lot, too. This especially helps when the drums get busy (1:49). That ride cymbal in particular is much easier to make out. Everything is, all playing as one. It's great. The guitars no longer obliterate everything else during the chorus (2:18). I love how on top of everything the lead vocals sound. Despite the utter maelstrom of sound, I can actually understand what they're saying for a change-a welcome shift, in my book. All in all, very nice work. I expect the nature of the band's style would have made this one a challenge but you've given it all your signature touches-space, clarity and positioning-seemingly without effort. Looking forward to hearing what you come up with next! :)
If only companies did actual remixes and remasters instead of just re-rendering the same audio tracks, in a higher quality profile, and selling it again for 30 dollars higher than the original price.
Yeah but sometimes people will bitch about it not being the exact same as the old version but re-rendered. The Megadeth remasters come to mind. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t I guess lmao

This is a great mix. I still think the kick sound on the original is better but it's cool to actually hear the rest of the drums sound way less muffled.
I feel like this would be the perfect theme for Thor in the next God of War(Ragnarok) game, especially considering well, ya know...Blood & thunder lol 🩸⚡🩸. It won't be, but I just feel like the vibe fits really well with how much he was hyped up as NO JOKE in the first game🔥.

The thing with megadeth remasters is, the instruments sound good, but for some reason Dave's voice on the remasters sound really weird
That's the thing, record labels don't care about buy rates now that people stopped buying CD albums.
