Yes- I hate how all these remasters tend to just crank the bass until it just muddies the mix; this is the only AJFA remixed song where the bass is actually improved and it makes this remix heavier than the original. Very good job.
If I may play devils advocate, I think Cliff smacked the everloving shit out his strings so hard they could have easily blasted through the guitars. The problem was that his tone itself was always either too muddy or not mixed loud enough
@User-jk8wq True, especially on Kill Em All where he didn't have distortion on his bass making it blend into the guitar tone. However, the attack from a picked bass will always be sharper/faster, and better for at least tremolo picked riffs at least, IMO. Cliff knew this and didn't bother to follow along with some of these types of riffs (in Battery he doesn't do the gallops, for example).

Considering the quality of the stems, it's a good work. I can tell where you had the biggest issue... around 200, where you could pump the snare, you also had to cut the kick... kind of a hard task to do it with a stem :)
I still don't understand how you can re mix the bass levels that are barely audible unless you have access to the master recordings.. ? Is this incredibly talented engineer recording his own bass parts. Lets face it, theres more bass in a White Stripes or Doors song than on AJFA. ??

Scott Thompson originally had mixed it to make Master Of Puppets sound like a demo in comparison, but Lars wanted it mixed the way it turned out. I imagine Scott's mix was a lot closer to this.

On AJFA they had to splice Lars' drum tracks to make coherent songs. It sounds like part of a take that was accidentally left in. Plus It's impossible to play. He's hitting the toms with both hands while that snare is going.

My favorite album & one of my favorite tracks, so I've digested this song a heck of a lot since 1989. I'm also a career musician & have done plenty of studio, performing, engineering, mastering etc to feel I have developed my ear to be a good asset. You have brought out this songs fullest potential, the listener is taken into a complete new dimension with this mix (listening with excellent headphones). I would genuinely endorse someone getting these remixed tracks to Jason to see if this mix was closer to what his vision, his playing attitude at the time etc. I think he would be smiling if he heard this. Every single 'Jason supporter' needs to hear your remixes. Excellent effort, & sincerely appreciated.
I’d have to say, I’m impressed with this, usually when people remix things, I don’t like it...but this, you really expanded the basement. I thought I could hear the high end of the bass guitar, it’s not way out front like some tend to do. Since they feel bad for Jason, it seems they over do it...this is just right. You can hear it...but doesn’t take away from the original sound

There's a reverb on the kick or something that's creating a long-drawn low & boomy resonance and it really muddies the track, otherwise it sounds great.
Yeah it just sounds like there's an earthquake rumbling underneath it all. it's crispy for sure, the snare snaps and the guitars cut nicely with more punch and less mud than the og mix.
Very true, it sounds like a live kick in a massive concert hall, but the rest of the mix sits on top of it unnaturally imo. The decay lasts too long for how active the kick is on this track.
maybe he mixed this without a sub on monitors that only go down to 45Hz or something, on my KRK's it sounds awesome! but on anything with a sub on it, it sounds boomy in the low end, think he just forgot to roll off the low frequencies with an EQ. Other than that it's great!

These remix remasters are simply phenomenal. Unfortunately I don't think we will get any more of the And Justice for All songs done because Ahdy only used the 5 available bass tracks to the public. Shame, because this remix is just too good to explain. I love the vocal effects, the fixed drums, added pounding bass...this is the definitive version. Dyers Eve does sound like it's clipping a bit....

These remix remasters are simply phenomenal. Unfortunately I don't think we will get any more of the And Justice for All songs done because Ahdy only used the 5 available bass tracks to the public. Shame, because this remix is just too good to explain. I love the vocal effects, the fixed drums, added pounding bass...this is the definitive version.
