  • Roadie sent me this tuner and asked for my opinion so I decided to fight it in a rather tame battle oft the tuners. Don't take it too seriously, it's just a video.

    The Nano Metal Muff from EHX is a Fuzz or Distortion pedal that includes a noise gate and in the new nano sized enclosure so it will actually fit on your pedal board! In this video i play a selection of guitars in the demo to find out what kind of effect pedal this really is! My review is at the end of the video.

    On the 2nd tuning with the Roadie 3, When you tuned the A string, (just after 5:00) the rotating clip of the motor wheel moved your thumb onto the E-String tuning peg very slightly moving it.
    Have a re-watch. They do take a little getting used to. I snapped a couple of top Es myself when I first started using it. The 6th string kept tightening. Since I updated the software I've had no problems.

    It doesn't have a setting for Bass (or at least it didn't unless they have just added it). I created a custom instrument setting for bass.

    That Peterson Strobostomp is pretty great. I would however invest in a roadie if it could tune all of my students' band instruments, though I imagine they would have to increase the motorized appendages and include small tazers to correct lazy embouchures and low-dose muscle relaxers to correct the enthusiastic embouchures. Just one for the road. Another to get home.

    I would like to see a demo of tuning to a 1/2 down from standard and capo tuning on 2nd fret of 4th fret. Drop D in a 1/2 down seen simple. What about 12 strings?

    It would definitely be helpful for those that are new at tuning and even winding strings. Because there might be a situation where you're tuning the string too much and it breaks......just saying lol.

      Peterson has been around for something like 70 years and are depended upon by professional instrument techs/installers. They're used on all instruments in the manufacturing/repair industry such as pianos and pipe organs (the use I'm familiar with). I WAS considering the Roadie 3, not anymore. I'm confused. Was the real purpose to sell the Peterson? LOL, kidding. I bought an Ernie Ball clip on, wasn't happy with it's appetite for batteries. Turned around and bought the Boss TU-10 in hopes of higher accuracy. I never looked into Peterson having such a stomp, but I'm just going to get the Peterson (how's the clip on version perform though?) and call it good. Thank you for the video (albeit a touch long) selling me on the Peterson which (with the $ spent on clip-ons) I should have done initially in hindsight. :) Times Peterson mentioned in my post: 6

    Not sure i feel comfortable paying such a high price for such a finite product. When the built-in battery finally dies, there is no way to replace it. That's a deal breaker for me.

    Why not count the time it takes to power on the device & select the correct instrument??? That time would be spent manually tuning.

  • @anthonychilds8193
    @anthonychilds8193 2 роки тому

    You bumped the 1st string out of tune when moving to the 2nd string causing it go back out of tune (surely someone mentioned this in the 80 comments, but I don't have time to read all that)

  • @Koake1002
    @Koake1002 Рік тому

    Should have started the test in a full step down and tune to E standard on each test to be most accurate. Cause it might be faster or slower trying to tune if the guitar note is closer or further away than last untuned guitar test. At least if you started each test in D standard and tuned to E standard then it would be a fair and more accurate test

  • @JaaaaaaaC

    5:12 while you're tuning the a string you don't have it seated correctly and its accidentally turns the tuner on the low e string as well.

    I’d go with the Peterson Andy. I currently use the snark but you are right, you really need to take your time with it and if anyone even talks to me the snark picks it up.
    If they had one that did 3 strings at a time, that might be handy for live stuff and possibly look impressive. Brilliant as usual mate😀👍👍

    If only some well known guitar brand would take the Roadie robotuner concept one step further and permanently mount it to the headstock. That way we could have push-button robotuning and not have to worry about how we look while tuning on stage. Oh well, maybe in another timeline that exists. In the meantime, I'll take one for the road.

    One of the first things you say is it is for the bass guitar.
    It isn't. You need to buy a separate "Roadie 3 for bass guitar".
    It will tune electric, and acoustic guitars, mandolin, banjo and ukulele. Basically everything Except a bass.

  • @AdamPropper

    Good job showing the different modes of the Roadie 3. It was fun watching. I'm not a professional but you've convinced me to shop a Stomp tuner vs. Roadie. The Roadie is more work, and I agree that for professionals on stage, it isn't a good look to use a robotic tuner in front of an audience. Not cool!

    I had the original Roadie, then Roadie Bass which has recently given up and now the Roadie 3. I use the roadie on my non Floyd guitars to quickly tune them up without turning the pedal board on with the Strobostomp. I use the Stroboclip HD on my Floyd equipped guitars to do the same. Normally I just use the Strobostomp. I find the Roadie 3 to be less accurate to the Peterson tuners but it is convenient.
