- * apologies for the background noise * In February of 2020, we started a new series called "What's the Deal?" where Jess and I would go to a restaurant that she has never been to before. She then rates everything in her own Jess kind of way. The requirements are that it has to be somewhere new and it has to involve chocolate for dessert.
Our "What's the Deal?" series got sidetracked by some crazy virus, but a few weeks ago we made it back out into the community for lunch on the deck of the Boathouse Rotisserie & Raw Bar in Chattanooga, TN. Our food was absolutely delicious. The seating area was a little loud, but Jessica handled it well. We hope you enjoy this video. Jess is 32-years-old, autistic, and blind. Her favorite topics of conversation include getting a new dog, her friend Keely, her Aunt Sue, and cousin Donna. Jess collects CD’s of children’s music, cards, coloring books, and has a small collection of used up disposable cameras that she refuses to get developed. Favorite health foods include chicken and rice, chicken tenders, chicken nuggets, chicken biscuits, pepperoni pizza, and hash brown potatoes. Jess has naturally curly hair that she would rather not ever comb, brush, or cut.
Jessica’s multiple disabilities stem from brain damage that occurred in-utero, and from hydrocephalus. In addition to autism and blindness, Jess also has minor fine motor and gross motor deficits.
The food Looked DELICIOUS 😋!!! I Loved when she said no she was not planning on sharing any of her Brownie!! Lol 😂

I just found your channel and I thought this ‘What’s the Deal’ video was great. I am a speech-language pathologist in a public school setting. Thank you for making these videos. I am sure they bring peace of mind and hope to parents of younger children with disabilities. I have learned more from watching channels like yours than from the countless hours of professional development I have had over the 24 years of practice. Thank you for letting us into your daily lives and for being such a beacon of light to other families with similar situations! 🥰🥰🥰

She actually does do well with controlled chaos, with the exception of when she's tired and when kids/babies are crying nearby for more than a couple of minutes.
