- Jessica's favorite day of the week! PO Day! This time, we took our packages home to open since Nonnie is recovering from a partial knee replacement and we are giving her quiet, rest time to focus on healing. (She is doing really well).

Jess is 33-years-old, autistic, and blind. Her favorite topics of conversation include getting a new dog, her friend Keely, her Aunt Sue, and cousin Donna. Jess collects CD’s of children’s music, cards, coloring books, and has a small collection of used up disposable cameras that she refuses to get developed. Favorite health foods include chicken and rice, chicken tenders, chicken nuggets, chicken biscuits, pepperoni pizza, and hash brown potatoes. Jess has naturally curly hair that she would rather not ever comb, brush, or cut.
Jessica’s multiple disabilities stem from brain damage that occurred in-utero, and from hydrocephalus. In addition to autism and blindness, Jess also has minor fine motor and gross motor deficits. Hannah is Jessica's sister, and Marlow is Jessica's paid support staff (and Hannah's best friend.)
I really appreciate the way you are firm with Jess about her attitude of gratitude while setting your boundaries so these days aren't as draining on you. You are very balanced! Good job, Mom! 🥰

It was lovely to see Jess listening to the messages from her gifts that you read out Val it was calmer to watch Jess take her time with each gift and not struggling with them so much....

I was a dog trainer for many years and the easy walk is a great tool i recommended all the time, It’ll help Jessica when she walks Zoe for sure! I’d definitely recommend looking up some videos cause it can be a little confusing at first to put on correctly and it makes all the difference when you do it right!
That harness will be a game changer for sure! If she pulls it brings her around looking at you and she can go forward pulling...lol We love ours...
How the heck to you remember all the decks of cards you have? Your memory is excellent.

It appears that Jess has become a little bit greedy when it comes to her package day
This didn't only happen to her it has happened to a couple others that I watched daily and they have had to ask the people to please quit sending gifts because it was causing problems in their home.
I have asked the people instead of sending packages to them to please send him somewhere where other little kids that don't get any gifts for Christmas or birthdays would have a chance to have something for them.
I seen where you said you don't have a place to put everything have you thought about trying something like this.??

Greedy? I truly hope you were struggling to find the correct word to describe excitement and glee. Please think before you type because words can be hurtful and being kind is important. Especially when you’re speaking to/about someone who has only shown kindness and gratitude.

Calling someone's child greedy is rude.
SO MAYBE (LOL) I just overstepped a boundary myself by commenting on this post, but I was more than a little shocked.
I don't think greedy is the right word but I do understand what you're trying to say. We don't want our kids to start expecting gifts, that can really come across as unthinkable & hard to watch. Val slowing her down helps alot, gives Jess time to absorb everything.
Please remember that Jessica is a 33 year old adult with multiple disabilities including a communication disorder. At times she cannot express her anxiety, emotions, fear, happiness in a way that even a child would be expected to. My question is how do you know they don’t already donate to the less fortunate?

I had to come get me some Jess time cheering up. It’s been a long rough day with my husband. He just started dialysis yesterday and it was bad on him. Went to the hospital today because everything he eats and drinks comes back up. Anyway long story and long day.
