I had one pack left and smoked 1 cigarette a night up until my quit date. I’ve been doing really well, feeling really strong. My quit date was 8/27 and I haven’t smoked even with the opportunity to. Thank you for these videos, my mind power has been strong!!

These are the best tobacco cessation tips that I’ve found in decades. I don’t know this ladies name , but she’s my personal coach 😅. My patches and gum arrived in the mail for my May 11 quit date.
I’m in preparation stages now trying to find things to keep me active and replacing the cigarettes. I am also logging my entire day activities including breakfast lunch and dinner so I know how to fill the “scary hours.” I try to give myself small chores before having the cig and looking at the clock to plan smoking only on the hour and then if I’m a half hour away to tell myself to find a activity to do for the next half hour. Sometimes I find an hour or two has passed and I haven’t thought about the cig.
At the end of the day , I see my log and wow I got so much done, got so many steps in, and cut my smoking in half.
Soon I will focus on halving those smokes little by little. Maybe eliminating one or two at a time . That’s the strategy so far and feel half way there which in toll feels productive already.
    Are there anymore preparation strategies?
I have moved my cigs and where I have them and not always bringing them in the car or for walks with myself.
I really am leaning on this lady as my helper and she really does understand the psychology- the idea of a lifestyle without is scary when coping with everything with a cig for decades.
I really haven’t gotten to the part of envisioning my lifetime without. I am just focusing on todays successes and trying 5 minutes at a time .

What helped me was learning my trigger points when I realized what they were I learned to avoid them like in the mornkngbid jump out of bed get my coffee made and go outside and smoke a cigarette then another well that was a trigger point so instead I got a cup of coffee and went in the living room I did not go outside just learning what would kick start my wanting a cig I'd recognize it then avoid it it got easier and easier it will be a year already in July 2 2023

@@collettamunk5221 so funny to read this in the morning while saying to myself that I have to skip the morning coffee outside with two cigarettes!
Thank you for the encouragement and helpful advice. My father gave me the same advice 20 years ago regarding what worked for him. It seems to be the biggest hurdle of the day isn’t it , but once conquered it makes the rest less of a challenge. Congratulations on your life changing success!

Your reply is so perfect. I was just reading about our Habit Scripts today! And suggestions to change things up gradually. First we have to become aware of what are habit scripts are and what our replacements will look like .
Thought of my dad’s advice again barely two minutes ago and wrote my brother.
I’m wishing you success. We can do this ! I was just released from ER Sunday. Nothing major but an ordeal. I’m psychologically preparing for major habit changes that will change my life in major ways . Reviewing and really studying all my lab work. God I can see the cigarettes in my calcium plaque and C02.
I could literally change those numbers immediately by skipping the next cigarette. The C02 alone is instantaneous.
I was lucky to leave the ER on Sunday without surgery or terrible news. Still a mystery and following up dr.

Hi, you are contributing a lot for the benefit of mankind; thanks for that.
I quit smoking on January 1, 2020 and then smoked few times in June 2020, then I smoked few times in 2021. Similarly I remained smoking free in 2022 but smoked occasionally . This time the frequency was pretty more as compared to 2020 and 2021. Which means that it was motivational quitting that didn’t work. What to do now? Because I am still struggling, and swinging like a pendulum between smoking and nonsmoking.
