I used to do some remodel landscape in my teens as a 2nd job in between construction jobsites [45+ yrs ago] and I can say with experience behind these words that... this job you did for this elderly woman was a literal MIRACLE for her! I was raised by the "Golden Rules" from grandparents who were there for WWI and WWII, and Parents who lived thru the Korean and Vietnam wars when most folks had those good work ethics and a warm heart to help others and "Pay it Forward." As a physically disabled & low-income person, I can’t tell you how much your channel warms my heart. The fact that you & AP offer essential services that so many can’t afford or maintain, means more than you’ll ever know. The way you both treat those who are struggling, with absolute dignity, generosity, humility & respect, is a huge part of the services you’re gifting. Far too often, those of us who can’t get by, are belittled, ridiculed & admonished. NO ONE should have to endure that. And most certainly not when you’re already down. I agree with this sentiment. The money this country generates…. We should care for our elders, veterans, disabled, mentally disabled and struggling poor working class much more than we do. Middle class workers barely exist today. It’s a sad state of affairs.

Whoa! You're not kidding - that yard is about an acre; I thought I saw a Lawn Mower under some grass. I know AP usually works hard, but this time he really worked. AP did an amazing job with that area of the yard. I'm glad AP has common sense. I love AP's dancing. You two make a great team!

This reminds me of helping a lady once who had built a fence to hide a jungle in her back yard. I charged her $150 to cover my gasoline (in the 1990's) to clear the enormous back yard, and I paid some friends $10 per hour to help me. 5 friends, a full week. It was absolutely a charity effort, except for the $150 commitment on the lady's part. She was kind of rich and she wanted to pay me much more, but she ended up being told no by all of us.
She appreciated it so much that a year later when she shut down her business to retire, she called me to go move her to west coast Florida. i hired those same friends to load her truck, load her car, hook her car to the Ryder truck, and we said goodbye as I drove her to her new home she'd purchased sight unseen. Which, turned out to be a very nice home!
She thanked me, gave me a hug, told me "Please accept this bonus from me. I need to pay you a little extra to help me, help my conscience, just for my own peace." I'd already charged her $1,500 for the movie (a moving company wanted $10,000) and she directly paid my friends $150 per day for 3 days, and as I was leaving, she handed me an envelope with another $1000 in it. She said it still cost her 35% of what the moving company wanted to charge her, and they were actually cheap. Her high bid was $18,000. Her house was FULL! She was a hoarder.
I walked away knowing I'd lost $1,000's of dollars between the yard cleanup and the move, but it didn't break me. And I believe in Karma. Many good things happened to me after that, and to my friends... It went wonderfully for us for many years.
I don't know if anyone remembers the old government slogan in the 90's, their little TV commercial about doing good deeds for your neighbors, "Do something good, feel something real." And, that was a *government* campaign! You'd never see anything like that today with the complete level of corruption of the government, like a dead body of a cow left to corrupt on your living room floor. That's the government now.
But back then, 30 years ago, people still had some good in them. Governments, too.
It was a wonderful experience. KARMA IS REAL. Plant good seeds, reap good crops.

I super appreciate seeing AP dropping skills in the woods. You know the machine clears the opens spaces, but it's all the walking back and forth, the picking up, weed wacking and the chop, chop - in that one yard it wouldn't surprise me if you both walked 10 miles that day. Hey, as this goes on....you've saved her house. I pray once she can look outside again she'll regain some strength and get out and about improving her life in total. Just amazing to watch the care given to every area of the huge property. You are her super heroes!
That property was,once thriving…… a swimming pool, riding lawn mower, grape arbors, outdoor workshop…… seriously a really nice piece of property.
Her kids probably grew up and moved away, husband passed, she got sick and just lost the will to enjoy that beautiful home.
I hope you gave that back to her by your very very kind deed.

Great job you two! I know it must have really uplifted her heart, It is a terrible feeling when a project like this yard gets so big that you can't do it by yourself. The only thing a person can do if they don't have help is just try to ignore it and go on with life as best they can. Older ones face this issue every day and it is so nice to find hard working men such as you and AP who have compassion and go out of their way to help. It made me sad to see this yard because you could tell that 30 years ago it was cared for. You could tell it was an active family with kids and a husband who had projects, a garden and grape vines and there was a swimming pool for the grand kids...it was like time and vines just covered up all the traces of a family that once lived there. You guys are doing a great job helping your city and it is very inspiring. Keep, keeping compassion alive!

Holy cow!! That lady needed to rent a dumpster so AP could really make her cleaned up yard do her home justice by hauling away all that trash. So nice to see Al and AP together for a fun day doing what they so generously do. Love you guys.
It also looked like some home repairs are needed but if (as in my earlier comment) no church..or any other group would help with the yard they certainly wouldn't help with her house. Trust me I've needed some repairs and NO ONE wants to help.

How can anyone have anything but respect, admiration and warm feels about this? We don’t do enough as a society for our seniors and our disabled. Thank you guys! So much respect!
And so often the disabled are overlooked but the elderly given assistance just due to their age. This is difficult for folks who are Ill/disabled and need assistance but don’t make the age criteria. Often then they are stuck inside their homes in winter with no way out to go to grocery or pharmacy for example. 😬I’m glad there are groups like this and others in which we can speak up and out for needs so they are known and can get met.
I'm 70 and on my own , Loneliness is a deep devastation , Your kindness is a wonderful thing and I'm grateful to see it in action . I'm uplifted by your decency ,. May all you do ,be rewarded . our world has become rather cruel toward the elderly , .

When you buy a house, especially one on that much property, you have to realize one day you will not be able to care for it. You have to either plan for that, or sell it before it gets out of hand. It’s selfish to just let it get so out of hand that you have to be offered a handout.

Hi Al, I hope you are feeling much better these days. Try to remember that you are never alone and you can START YOUR DAY OVER ANYTIME YOU WANT. U don't have to wait until Midnight to Start your day over. I'm only talking about one day at a time. Yesterday is gone, and 2maro isn't even here yet. So Today is the most important day that I have any kind of control over.
