  • Brian rambles about why daily driving with track brake pads isn't a good idea. Even though they literally aren't designed for daily driving so that should have been obvious. But just how bad is it...

I had PS track pads all year last year. the only thing i disagree with is, no stopping, they stop just as well as stock even in 40s and 50s

They stop fantastic, it just takes 5-10 minutes for them to warm up. The first stop on my way out of the driveway was just dangerously useless.

Got these on my gt500 and the noise when braking is horrible. Sounds just like in your video and the dust is horrendous. I only have them on my fronts so the wheels go from bronze to black quickly while the back wheels are gold af

I use these with a set of 4 pot brembos on my white GTI for track. They turn the car gray. Also, did you get huge spark showers on track?

Thanks for the tastefully edited car wash scene. That could have gotten bad, haha!

Would you be willing to elaborate more on their performance on the street? I personally don't care about the dust, increased wear or the noise AT all. However, if they really do perform like you have no fluid in your system when cold then yikes. I personally don't drive a lot and when I do, it's 99% in town so I figured track pads would be fine but I wanna be sure and hear more from you.

Yeah basically they're just designed to work at a much higher temp then you're going to get to with even spirited street driving. They are more expecting to be fully slammed when going well over 100mph, so at normal temps they just don't have the bite. The same brand's street pads are by far superior for actual street driving, but they won't take the heat on the track.
Even the break in procedure for the track brakes is nuts; 80-0 10 times to get them to properly bed

@draza3083 I've been daily driving power stop track day spec pads for about 2 months now , which are even more aggressive than what's run in the video, you'll need more pedal pressure to get the car to stop when they're cold but you can still lock the tires, I haven't been in a scenario yet where I felt that I couldn't come to a stop fast enough. This being said there is noise when braking and the brake dust is comical it looks like I have different colored wheels front/rear. I used to have the powerstop z26s , but I glazed them just driving on backroads. If you don't care about noise/dust I'd go for it.

I'm running the track day pads on my car and it is slightly noiser than stock pads (fiesta st) and I do get some hum when they're cold coming to a stop. They're not too bad when cold for me, stock pads had a tad more grip when cold but it's not terrible.

I screwed up and ordered what i thought was the complete kit (last year) so when i came today to put them on i forgot what i ordered since i didn’t get to putting them on til a year later , i had noticed that the rears were drilled slotted and the fronts weren’t and i was like hmm wth. Come to find out my dumb Ass ordered the track day fronts and the z23 rears 💀 fronts squeak bad lol
I personally don’t care for brake Dusts but the damn squeaking .

I'm planning on going to a track next summer for my very first time. I have a 2020 mustang pp1 and the stock pads on the brembo are dusty too. Do you have good suggestion for daily pads that could get me through a day or so on thr track or should I just bite the bullet and buy a good set of both? Are you running a different brake fluid for the track?

I recommend finding a hybrid pad, so in other words, a pad that operates from ambient temps but has a high mu coefficient at hot temps. For my Type R, Paragon Performance makes a great "in between" pad.
