I was 62 when I went to LVN program - 64 Graduated - Now just turned 66 and Nursing strong - Seeking ADN Nursing Bridge Program - Holistic Therapist background for over 30 years - Nursing is a natural extensión - No retirement for me - You get where you get when it is time - loved Nursing College - love taking my pre.reqs for RN bridge - BSN is the next Goal -
Wow! You're giving me motivation right now. I'm 42 , a stay at home mom for 7 yrs , newly migrated and losing hope about career options here in the States.
Thank youuuuuu for posting this i'm so afraid to go back to school but after reading this i just filled an aplication for my local community college!!!!!
I'll be 50 in a few days. I'm currently completing my A&P + other prerequisites for my BSN (Class of 2023). Thank you for this video! I really needed it.
Turning 49 next month and finishing nursing-2 (ADN). hoping to bridge BSN by the time I'm 52. Maybe MSN by 55? Got 2 classmates same age as me but average age is 26 (probably 22 without 3 of us🤣). Wish i started earlier but glad i started, period!! Don't wait people, don't regret! Do it!!👍 Thanks for the video!!!
I'm 33 with four kids and have been a stay at home mum for 13 years! Im about to start nursing next month, this is the best video I could have come across, thank you so much!!
I'm 38 and have four kids too I'm on the fence though I feel guilty about taking time for me and studying everyone depends on me even my hubby but it's nice to see others following their dreams gives me encouragement!
I have been a nurse for 29 years and I just turned 50. Now I’m in a RN to BSN program and applying to a DNP program this summer to become a FNP. You’re never to old!!
I will be 64 when I complete my FNP. I plan to work well into my 70s. It’s more of a self-actualization thing for me. The upside to waiting this long is that I’m financially comfortable at this age and so I’m able to pay for this with accruing debt. I supported my husband in his career and put my daughter through her PharmD program, now it’s my turn!
I'm going to be 40 in June and I'm starting my nursing program in 2021 🤪🤪🤪....so exciting!!😍🙃😄💖💖👩⚕️👩⚕️. I put my trust in God in all my decisions 🙏😃!!
I was. CNA for 15 years and a LVN for 4. I'm finally starting the RN program this month at 45y/o. While I'm not thrilled about still being a student at this age, I am encouraged that I've seen plenty of nurses in their 60s and even 70s still going strong.
@@lindsay3793 Hi Lindsay, I just graduated a few weeks ago and I'll be taking the nclex soon. As for your question, it really depends on your specific situation. I dont regret becoming an LVN, but I do wonder if back in 2017 I should have finished my associate degree, and retaken the TEAS exam instead. I could have increased my point value significantly, which meant that I could have conceivably gotten directly into a program in 2018 or 2019, meaning I would have finished in 2020 or 2021. However, this would have also meant that I would have had to have kept working as a CNA for a couple more years and I was really tired of being a CNA. I guess just try and formulate both scenarios and weigh the pros and cons of each. Good luck to you 🍀
I’m 26 and reading the comments is really inspiring me to just go for it. I was scared because I feel like I don’t have enough time, but I had no idea I have more than enough! thanks for this video ❤️
I'll be 47 and starting my nursing degree in March. I began the university course at 18 and circumstances meant that I ended up dropping out 1/2 way through the 3 year course. I have regretted it ever since. I'm now at a stage in my life and maturity level that I'm ready. Bring on 2021.
You nailed it. I'm 48 and in prereqs for 18 more months. I have an A average even though I work two jobs besides my class. I'm going slowly until nursing classes. I'm a pastor and an advanced EMT and this helps so much. I was not sure if I was going to be able to go back this late in life but now I see that all those years are helping greatly. I am so thrilled to have this oppprtunity! I just have to do it the way it works best for me.
Went to LPN school at 55 years old /2019 took a night program because I had to work it took me 2yrs. I loved it actually miss it. I still stay in touch with a lot of my classmates. I graduated last June and I took the NCLEX PN passed that. Currently being careful with job assignments because of a bad experience. No regrets I did it always wanted to be a nurse and my mother died during the early phases of COVID 19.Spent several years taking care of my mother in Toronto I promised her that I would someday become a nurse. Very rewarding profession will pursue the RN route very soon.
I definitely think that nursing is one of those fields in which life experience is a huge advantage, and employers recognize that. I started nursing school when I was 27, after having my two oldest kids and then, I started NP school at 45 (after having my fourth child at 43, so I guess you could say I've fully adopted the "never too late" philosophy in all aspects of my life). Both times in school I found that a) I wasn't anywhere near the oldest in my class and b) having a little extra maturity and exposure to the ups and downs of life really helped. Now, as a new NP at 47, I had no problem finding my first job in primary care and I'm looking forward to a 20-25 year career as an NP!
Aura Truelove that’s amazing I’m currently nursing school and I’m 29 and keep thinking I’m getting old lol I guess I need to start working as a nurse to see if i want to go for np but also nursing hasn’t been easy for me which gives me doubts will I be able to do np?
Aura Truelove wow this was beautiful to read and very inspiring! I’m 29 right now, married with two girls and Bachelors degree that I’m not using and I started taking my prerequisites this past September to qualify for an ABSN program. I will admit I was feeling down in the dumps that I let 10 years of my life go down the drain but this was very reassuring
Just accepted into an accelerated BSN program beginning classes in October. Currently a respiratory therapist, hoping I can still learn what I need to and keep up with the youngsters. :).
Thank you so much! I totally needed this right now! I'm 49 and start nursing school this month. I've worked so hard to get accepted into a very competitive program, but beginning to have a little self doubt. Watching your video and reading the comments makes me realize...I've got this!! Thanks again.
I was in my late 30s when I graduated with my BSN. I went to college on the 20 year plan. Honestly I felt I had a definite advantage throughout my nursing education. I graduated #1 in my class. A lot of the other students were so young, seemingly barely out of high school.
The NP who changed/saved my life didn't finish her schooling until she was in her fifties. It doesn't matter how old you are, all that matters is what you do after you become an NP.
I'm 39 and a Housewife. I was born with Tuberous Sclerosis. I've been in and out of the Hospital plenty of times over the years. I had my gall bladder, right ovary and a hysterectomy took out all in the past 3 years. I also have LAM and kidney disease. BUT this is something I want to do. I've been thinking about it for quite some time and I want to be an LPN. I want to be a Nurse. I'm blessed to have a husband who supports me. I'm praying that I can do this.
2 words: *THANK YOU* You give me hope to believe in myself! I cried watching this. Such a sensitive topic in my heart. 💗 Edit: Regret is the worst enemy of a persons life.
Omg thanks for this video! I'm 38 and will start nursing school in May. I have a BS in Public Health and always wanted to be a nurse. I feel blessed to be able to fulfill my dream
I was just accepted to an accelerated entry level MSN and I will turn 50 right after I start! Go chase your dreams and, Liz, thank you SO much for the great video and the encouragement. I can’t wait!!!❤
@@marylee7989 My first semester is quickly coming to a close. I am loving every minute and the younger students have embraced me. Best decision EVER! Go for it!!
Thanks for posting this video. I am 46 and I want to become a CNM. When I was 31 years old I was accepted into a 2 year nursing program at my CC. At the time I was married and had four children who were 9, 7, 3 and 1. It was extremely hard and unfortunately I didn't have a great support system. I was dismissed from the program in my first semester as I didn't pass by a few points. Life happened and now here I am excited about pursuing nursing. I am in my second marriage, my children are adults and in their late teens and I have a great support system. I am currently applying to an accelerated program for Fall 2019. At one of the schools information sessions I asked them about the age range of their current cohort. They told me that the ages ranged from 19 - 61. 🤩
Yes! Its your time! So excited for you! A great support system makes ALL the difference in the world! And not having tiny children. That is also helpful
Hi I’m 38 and I also don’t have a good support system. It’s been a dream of mine to be a surgical nurse but I’m terrified to go back to college and to work. I’m always in my own head. I feel I’m to old and not smart enough to become a surgical nurse. I know if I don’t do this I’m gonna have big regrets. I’m just scared that if do this I’m probably gonna be on my own with my daughter and I know that I cannot fail at this. I don’t know what to do😔
I always wanted to be a nurse but due to lack of focus, insecurities and life circumstances, I have been stuck at my job as an ophthalmic technician for 15 years! I'm 35 years old now and still have the burning desire to be a nurse but my personal debts holds me back :( but deep down inside, i know I will accomplish it sooner or later! Thank you for this video, I feel is a sign from the universe :))
I’m a 44 year old outpatient coder at a hospital and am doing my prereqs for nursing school and was thinking this exact thing. Thank you for making feel better.
You are a coder or were? This was two years ago… I am 51 and in the medical and billing program and after a year I decided it is not for me… I am looking to apply to LPN program… we will see what happens since I’m not willing to take the vaccine😢
I'll be 32 when I finish my ABSN program. We have people who used to be engineers, librarians, respiratory therapists and chemists. Our youngest is 21 and our oldest is in their 50s. Thank you for making this video!
This made me so happy and it really was something I needed to hear! I’m 25 and my parents been on my back about school about how I’m wasting my life and comparing me to people younger then me that’s already graduated. Ive been through so much in my life and been through so many set backs I felt I could never achieve anything. After loosing my grandma in September I felt lost but mostly a failure because I felt that if I was a nurse I could’ve done more to help. I start nursing school April 2nd and I’m excited but I haven’t told my parents. I thank God to finally get this step and hope my grandma will be proud of me
needed to hear this i'm 38 going to be 39 in a few months and was thinking of going into nursing school.. i have my bachelors from a while ago and im scared im not smart enough to do this
I’ve struggled with this feeling too and went back and forth trying to decide if I wanted to put in the time and sacrifices to do this including painful prerequisites lol (I’m not a math or science person!!) Some people make career changes at our age from completely different jobs! Just do it and consider it your second chance 😉❤️💪🏼 for yourself and for your kids. Thats what im doing !
Imelda Reynolds I keep trying to tell myself that lol. I started school as a MA (medical assistant) I graduate in November. I will be applying to nursing school next year aug 2021 (lord willing) this pandemic put things off for me. I’m going to start slow go for my LPN. We can do it!!!
Christi Elise aw brilliant congratulations. You’re already in the healthcare so you’re on a roll now. Keep going. I’m a support worker here. good for you 👌 We can do it. We got this far. We ain’t quitting now 👍🏻💕💕💕
I really needed this! Reading the comments as well is so encouraging. I’m a 30 year old single mom of 3 and I thought it was too late. Currently taking my prerequisites for my BSN degree. I started in October 2019 and October 2020 I’ll be ready to start applying for the nursing program. I’ll be 33 by the time in a RN
Do it! You will never have to worry the rest of your life about how you're going to put food on the table or how you're going to put a roof on in the house or what you're going to do when you're my age. I'm 66 and I'm living on 987 a month. That's the extent of my social security. I'm going to nursing school now!
Hi I am 46 yrs old and I decided to finally to go for it. Being a nurse is something I have always wanted to do but never had the opportunity. I’m at the stage in my life where I can. I have been struggling with the fact that I am 46. I’m scrolling through UA-cam and your video pops up. Thank you so much. I really needed to watch this. I’m so excited to learn. In my younger years not so much. Thanks again. So happy I found your channel
Omg thank you so much! I’m 26 and still in Pre reqs... no previous degree, but when I say I WANT THIS. I REALLY WANT IT! This helps with my crazy anxiety on me getting my RN, and wanting to go on to grad school later!
I really needed to hear this today!! I’m (finally!) finished my prerequisites and applying to an RN program this June. If all goes well, I’ll graduate in 2022. I’d love to get my NP, but I’ll be almost 43 by the time I’m an RN. But I’ll still have a good 20-25 years in the workforce, so you’re right, it’s totally worth getting my NP!!
Sierra, I am 43 and graduating LPN in 30 days. Applying for the LPN to RN bridge which starts August 2020, Hoping to be an RN in Summer 2021 at age 45! We have got this!
Thank you. You just don’t know how relieved my 36 years old self is. I am starting this year with the prerequisites and in 3 years time will get my BSN. Amen
Thank you for this video. I'm 50 and have worked in healthcare for 26 years but I'm now starting an ADN nursing program in a few weeks. It is intimidating knowing I'll be the old lady in class but I have to just get that out of my head and do this and get through this.
Hi Liz This topic has been wrestling in my head and I'm so at peace with this video and the rest of the people following their passion. I've been losing sleep and beating myself up for not knowing and not chosing this path sooner. Im taking my prereqs currently. Love my classes, and have been in a different field since I graduated college.
I am in 2nd semester of an ABSN program. Most of my class is 30's and 40's aged people with a couple 20's and one plus 50. It feels entirely doable. I was worried about being "too old" as well. . . .But I think I can still work 20-30 more years for sure. Maybe shift into education in my older years if I'm still with it! Everyone I've met in my cohort are DRIVEN. The 40's and 50 yr olds are super grounded. I can feel their determination and like you said, an unflappable aspect! I'm someone who went to college at age 18 and was lost. Did many things all over. . insurance, florist, soap company. It never felt RIGHT. Wasted over 10 years just being a lost random person. Now I feel anchored. I love nursing school. I love having drive and challenge and purpose. It is so difficult but I can tell VERY WORTH IT. Just starting down this path I already feel I belong! thanks for the great video!
For some reason I teared up when I read your comment, especially the "lost random person part" lol. I totally feel like that, always have. I hope things are going well for you!
Thank you Liz! I so needed to hear this one. I just recently found you here and IG. I just started my NP program on 3/28/21. I took my 1st class and got an A!! Yes! I agree with you on the life experiences factor and being a little older going into nursing school. I got my LVN at 20, My RN at 26 and my BSN at 45.. I am now 55 and finishing my NP. I will work till at least 65-68 . I am a life long learner. We nurses are always learning. Thank you for confirming that we are never too old to do this on this episode. I have wanted to be an NP for a very long time and I know without a doubt, I would have huge regret not doing this for myself. So THANK YOU !! You are adorable and so full of good energy. I have loved listening to you.. Happy Mothers Day !!
Im 28 years old, single mom and fulltime veterinary technician doing anesthesia at a specialty hospital Hopefully will start pre reqs soon Thank you for this💞
Thank you for this video I Needed to here this some days I get discouraged about starting the nursing program in my late 20s. Or wishing I should have done nursing for my first degree. But I’m learning God time is the best. ♥️
This video is exactly what I needed to watch. I’m 30 years old, stay-at-home mom to 3 kids (ages 8,6,&4). I have no previous degree, always been a stay-at-home mom. I’m considering nursing school and thinking of starting pre reqs this fall. This video was really helpful.
I’m 31 and just now looking into taking this path. I had to drop out of college at 20 after my first year due to my health. I make pretty good money as a server in a nice restaurant and am a few months away from having my massage license. After I get some professional experience in massage I want to start my prerequisites for becoming a nurse. I don’t have kids yet but I want a happy family with kids and a stable income helping people. just felt like sharing since I enjoy reading others comments and stories.... thanks for the videos!! 💕
I cried when I saw this video. Wish I had found you sooner. I'll be 48 next month and have been thinking about doing this for a long time. I'm going to apply and see what happens. Thank you!
Liz, Thanx for the video, I’m 50 starting nursing school, my kids are teenagers & this is something that I have always dreamed of, I’m so excited! Love your personality & charm!
Thank you for this video. I’ve been a SAHM mainly for 16 years. My Husband has always been a Pastor so have helped him. We also have 4 children aged 5-15. Our life circumstances have changed and I want to go to school. I’ll be 38 in December and wish I would of went to school when I was younger. But I can’t go back. This video spoke right to my soul! Excited to get going!
This gives me hope and inspiration. 23 years ago, I completed CNA 1 & 2, program, then began an LPN school in a small school in NC. I struggled with test taking and due to an undiagnosed “comprehensive learning disorder”, I withdrew from the program in my last semester. I could kick myself for sure because I’ll be 50 in August and I’ve never felt successful. I’ve always worked full time in the medical filed. I was a phlebotomists in a small office for many years, then I was an office manager for a neurologist (the dr diagnosed me with ADD after 17yrs of withdrawing from LPN school). I love the field and now have my own business where I run errands and do home healthcare for seniors. I’ve always dreamed of working in labor and delivery or becoming a midwife. I’m military wife and my husband will retire in 4yrs. I’ve raised two children who are now 19 and 13yo. I have one more year homeschool my son, before he starts high school. I don’t feel like I’ve accomplished all that I was meant to do. I’m extremely active and feel like the older I get, the sillier it is to go back to school....since my memory is awful! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. God Bless!
Thank you sooo much Nurse Liz for this video!! I have been a cook for over 31 years. I was my mother's caretaker for almost 10 years. She passed away 4 years ago and the honor of taking care of her is the reason I believe I have found my "calling"!! I have been doing prerequisites for 2 years and now I will be starting the nursing program this August...3 days before my 50th birthday!! I will admit I'm nervous, but I am also super excited to start the next chapter in my life and to help take care of people!! I have a soft spot for the elderly and I actually want to steer towards geriatrics/Alzheimers. I actually feel her presence every day, guiding me through this journey!! You are NEVER TO OLD to go back to school!! I got this!!💯👩⚕️💗🤗
I always thought that I was too old.....I started school at the age of 37...just turned 38 on the 21 of july and I have just two more prerequisites left to take!!!!! Sometimes I wish I would have started earlier 😊😊
I am 50 years old and I graduated Nursing School after raising my 6 children... I passedmy NCLEX and I accepted a position in critical care. I am terriied but also excited. Praying to do well. I will definitely try my best
Hello Nurse Liz .. I just started watching your videos and really love it. I’m about to start nursing school and I’m 56.... but I care about people and have always wanted to do more my current career is a pastry chef ... and love that too but with the pandemic most hotels country clubs and restaurant has shut down leaving me out of work ...you are great in explaining .... and I always wanted to do nursing and now I have that chance ..thank you and merry Christmas
That is me right now... Something keeps pulling me and telling me to go to nursing school... I’ve always wanted to be a nurse.. I’m a certified MA right now with 10yrs experience and I’m 31 I’m trying to get my transcripts over to an accelerated program here in my city... I hope all goes well Thank you for this video! Also, I know if I don’t try now I WILL REGRET NOT TRYING. Another edit... Lol I agree with you 110%! I’ve realized as I get older the better I understand things like school work, life situations, etc
I'm 38 years old and just received my BSN in nursing. I started off as an LPN at the age of 27, started ADN school at the age of 29 and received that degree at the age of 31. I waited a few years to get my BSN because I said that I wouldn't get it unless I knew for sure that I wanted to work as an NP. I now know that I am ready to start my NP journey and I am so ready. I just filled out the application to hopefully get accepted in August of this year. No kids. I may have a least one. Good luck everyone.
Turned 35 yesterday, have 4-kids (ages 16-3), and I’m 1-2 semesters away from starting the core ADN program. It’s my first step of a decade long journey to become a Nurse Practitioner.
Thanks for posting this! Im 26, I just finished my undergrad and have spent the last 6 years of my life in the education and special needs field and I realized it wasn't quite right for me. I want to pursue nursing but I was really letting the fact that I'll most likely be 30 or a little older when I finish nursing school, get me down.
We are legit the same situation . (Almost) I’m coming from education ! I have been feeling the same way it’s so unexplainable. This video was very helpful! Good luck! I start this Fall.
This was great; I'm so nervous starting an Accelerated BSN program at 38. I was a trader for many years before deciding to switch careers. I hope I can do this.
This makes me feel so much better about going back to school at 39. I have an eight year old son and 3 year old twins. And I've been doing hair 20 years. I think that has given me great people skills.
I juuust turned 34 and I’m continuing my pursuit of ADN after leaving my prerequisites 5 years ago to start a production company. All I have to say is I have no regrets about stopping and starting again. The difference is now I’m more focused than ever! Thank you for your inspiration Liz!
Thank you for this, I am almost 30 and feel old, and unable to learn. I didn't believe in my self when I was younger, but I gave my life to christ and started taking meds and now I believe in myself enough to get my ADN. I am going to start this fall. Pray for me.
This is exactly what I needed to see today. Thanks Nurse Liz! I'm 40 years old and have been working as a lawyer for the past 15 years. For the past 10 years, the possibility of going back to university to study nursing had been tickling at the back of my brain. This year I decided to make it happen. I've got the (somewhat terrified) moral support of my husband and I've applied to university. Early offers come out next Friday and I hope to start my degree in the new year. I worry that people will think I'm crazy but I really want to make this change. Thank you for this encouraging video.
@Kylie Moloney: Oh gosh...I am also a lawyer (also a soon to be PhD in Law)...Law is killing me and I never has a courage to leave this field....However, getting into the nursing studies (or a social work) has been tickling the back of my brain since the past couple of years...and I am so happy to see I am not the only lawyer in the room who wishes for nursing :D.....Wish you all the best in your new path...
Thanks hon...this was very informative...when I told.my family I was gonna go to nursing school they looked at me like I grew a 2nd head...im 48...but im ok with that...ive been a caretaker for years an love the in an outs of nursing...i have seen the good an the bad so that part doesn't discourage me 1 bit...actually I expected worse from your description...my answer to anyone that has asked me why I wanna go back to school is " I finaly know what I wanna be when I grow up" 😁...thanks again ...I'll be following you closely
Liz thank you so much for this video and your honest opinion. I am also in my 40’s and have been an RN from 1997. Have BSN and now decided to go for FNP program which was a dream. I have an interview this week for NP program. I appreciate your approach towards these common questions pertaining to FNP program. Thank you and God Bless❤️
Thank you for this video! I have spent 15 years working up the corporate ladder and finally have my own office, and like you mentioned, I’m getting paid more than what an RN would make-but I want to quit and start school again and change careers at 43.
I'm 35 with 3 boys and I start my nursing program this August. I am excited. If I can tackle being a mother of 3 active boys I can definitely handle nursing school.
Oh My God! This made me feel great. I am 35 yrs old and I don’t think I’m old to go back to school. It’s been a while of course. But I have been toying with the idea of doing Nursing for a while now. I have been a Medical Assistant for 12 yrs and a Referral coordinator for 2 yrs. I have a six yr old daughter and I want to do this of course for me but also for her as well. I want her to be proud of her mommy. And it’s true what you say, I feel like now at 35 yrs old I am most mature and disciplined. I feel like now is the time for me to attempt this. So thank you for this motivation. You’ve gained a subscriber and IG follower.
Thank you for this!! I am 41 and hope to start my accelerated BSN in December. I worry sometimes that I will be the old lady in class, lol! But, as you stated, I am happy to be going on this journey as a more mature, responsible person. I am also making a switch from an allied healthcare field, I am currently an OT, so I already have a lot of hospital based healthcare experience. I am not making the switch to get away from OT, I still really enjoy it. I am making the switch due to job accessibility in my particular situation. Which is a mature, grown up decision, I suppose. Thank you so much for all of your videos, I have watched a ton of them and they are so helpful! I really appreciate how real and candid you are.
Thank you for posting this, Liz! I'm currently in grad school for a PhD in neuroscience but I've been feeling this calling to nursing for a few months now. I think I'm going to apply to ABSN programs and eventually become an NP like you! Hoping to be able to spin my experiences in research to my advantage when I apply to these programs. Your videos are awesome and you've made me feel so much more confident in my decision to pursue this path! :)
All these beautiful, strong people on here is so encouraging. Thank you to the young woman who made the video and encouraged this platform. Please ... let us continue to motivate each other. I myself will be in my early forties when I graduate with my RN degree and I plan on going all the way to the top ... DNP for me bc that’s my aspiration, that’s my passion. I will continue to age either way, why not do it with a degree or two under my belt. We ALL got this. See y’all at the finish line☺️
I’ll be 42 this year and will probably get into the nursing program this fall. I have 9 kids ages 8-22, and don’t regret staying with them all these years.
Girl!!! I take my hat off too you!!!!!!! I have 5 and I know it can be a lot! I'm currently in school with only two prerequisites left! Congrats to u girl and keep pushing!
Victoria tucker I wish I had people like you around me. You are a motivator I did all my prerequisites years ago and stop now I regret ever stopping. I am working as a CNA for over thirty years. I am in my early sixties and wish I could go back but I am embarrassed because of my age. Wish I had all these positive people.
I have been watching your videos for a year now and I finally will be starting nursing school in the fall. I have my bachelors in mass communications but I wanted a more fulfilling career. I’m a mom of two boys under 4 years and going back has been a scary thought. Thank you for this video 💙
You are so motivating nurse Liz and I’ve been watching you since the beginning of my journey since I started taking pre-Rex back in 2018. I am now over halfway through to getting my RN and I’m 35 years old. Keep doing what you’re doing you’re helping so many of us.
The comment section has given me so much motivation. I'm 37 with one child and caregiver to my grandmother. I work full time as a data analyst. This was a default career after being at my job so long. I enrolled to classes today and I will now begin my journey into nursing. I'm a little nervous because of my age and changing my career completely, but this video and your comments are giving me good vibes about this.
Not nursing related, but my first college stats class we had a student who had a child at the time and was probably in her 30s. But I applaud her for being in a course while being a mother and kicking butt, keeping some of us on track, and just working with us. The age gap is invisible when the stress or environment is the same for everyone. It's like everybody sees each other as a person they can rely on for that class or program. Especially with programs like nursing, or anything medical related. It's crazy the conditions they put us through and how those conditions make us come together! Love the video!

Wow! You're giving me motivation right now. I'm 42 , a stay at home mom for 7 yrs , newly migrated and losing hope about career options here in the States.
I am 67. I am going to MSN.
Thank youuuuuu for posting this i'm so afraid to go back to school but after reading this i just filled an aplication for my local community college!!!!!
Wow! I'm not alone. This is encouraging for me!!!
@@xtn_2014 career options are great in the States. I think if you want to change or start a new career it is truly the best place
I'll be 50 in a few days. I'm currently completing my A&P + other prerequisites for my BSN (Class of 2023). Thank you for this video! I really needed it.
You got this!!
Calvin you're an inspiration! And here I am thinking that 38 was too old. Good luck and congrats on believing in yourself.
That’s awesome! I’m thinking about doing the same...I’m worried about juggling my work schedule though.
Sweet, another man in nursing at a late age. I’m rooting for you brother!!!
Congratulations! You got this 🙏🏽
Turning 49 next month and finishing nursing-2 (ADN). hoping to bridge BSN by the time I'm 52. Maybe MSN by 55?
Got 2 classmates same age as me but average age is 26 (probably 22 without 3 of us🤣).
Wish i started earlier but glad i started, period!!
Don't wait people, don't regret! Do it!!👍
Thanks for the video!!!
Thanks for sharing!
Good on you for pursuing a dream, Raimus!
Awesome! You are inspirational to me, as I'm 44 going into the ADN program and hoping to keep going from there.
Raimus Prime Thanks
Thank you for this! I'm 47 just starting school.. I've been wanting to do this forever. I feel encouraged by this post ❤
I'm 33 with four kids and have been a stay at home mum for 13 years! Im about to start nursing next month, this is the best video I could have come across, thank you so much!!
You can do anything if you have four kids! Honestly, you'll be TOTALLY fine. Best of luck with you program!
You got this mama!!
I'm 38 and have four kids too I'm on the fence though I feel guilty about taking time for me and studying everyone depends on me even my hubby but it's nice to see others following their dreams gives me encouragement!
Michaela Walsh, You go girl! I’m 30, with 2 kids and I’m thinking of going back as well. I wish you the best of luck!
How are you getting on? That’s awesome!
Ill be 61 when I graduate and so will another woman I go to school with. I still need to work so why not be a nurse.
go you!!
Victoria Tucker I’m 56 and am thinking of going to nursing school. But thought I was too old. Maybe I can do this.
Amazing. Good for you.
Victoria Tucker thanks for what you said ,I am 66 ,do you think it’s to late for me ....
Ohhh congrats. That is awesome. What an inspiration.
I have been a nurse for 29 years and I just turned 50. Now I’m in a RN to BSN program and applying to a DNP program this summer to become a FNP. You’re never to old!!
I thought of you when I was working on this!
Rock on, Cheryl. :)
You really right chery, no one is too old, how you doing?
I will be 64 when I complete my FNP. I plan to work well into my 70s. It’s more of a self-actualization thing for me. The upside to waiting this long is that I’m financially comfortable at this age and so I’m able to pay for this with accruing debt. I supported my husband in his career and put my daughter through her PharmD program, now it’s my turn!
Average age in my ADN program was 35. Oldest was 62. Age is just a number.
that's awesome!!
Oldest in my graduation class was 67 and she got a job before mr. You go girl
my best friend became a nurse at 54 years old. Life and finances got in the way but she was awesome!!!
I'm going to be 40 in June and I'm starting my nursing program in 2021 🤪🤪🤪....so exciting!!😍🙃😄💖💖👩⚕️👩⚕️. I put my trust in God in all my decisions 🙏😃!!
Where are you starting your program? I live in Northern California and all nursing programs are in a waitlist.
I am 44 and may began this Fall or 45 Winter quarter. I am excited!!! Its better now then never! We got this!!!
Beautiful
How's it going...abt to be 37 in June and I'm feeling too old to start...
@@emjay4217 just go for it, I'm 35 and applying x
I’m 27. I’m starting RN school in August! I don’t think you’re ever too old. If you want it, go get it!
I was. CNA for 15 years and a LVN for 4. I'm finally starting the RN program this month at 45y/o. While I'm not thrilled about still being a student at this age, I am encouraged that I've seen plenty of nurses in their 60s and even 70s still going strong.
How is it going? Any updates? Do you think I should skip LVN and go straight to RN?
That's awesome to hear! Glad you're going for it and you got this!
You go for it girl.
You are sooooooo young. Life experience is a huge plus. Nurse educator here :)
I'll be 47 and starting my nursing degree in March. I began the university course at 18 and circumstances meant that I ended up dropping out 1/2 way through the 3 year course. I have regretted it ever since. I'm now at a stage in my life and maturity level that I'm ready. Bring on 2021.
I'm 54 and just finished prerequisites last week. I start the nursing program in the Fall! Never too old!
How has it been going?
You nailed it. I'm 48 and in prereqs for 18 more months. I have an A average even though I work two jobs besides my class. I'm going slowly until nursing classes. I'm a pastor and an advanced EMT and this helps so much. I was not sure if I was going to be able to go back this late in life but now I see that all those years are helping greatly. I am so thrilled to have this oppprtunity! I just have to do it the way it works best for me.
Yes!! Go you!
Jennie,
Your colleagues and patients are so lucky to have you! Congrats on not letting anything stand in the way of pursuing a dream :)
Yessssssss Jennie!!!! Wishing you the best of luck ❤🙌🏾
Wow!! I’m
Inspired. Thank you!!
Don't worry about age... Just lead a healthy lifestyle and keep yourself young at heart and soul...
I have been a nurse for 30 years and went to NP school at 55, no regrets!!!
Love it, Aura Truelove! Sounds like you're hitting your life milestones right on time!!! :)
That's awesome!! Congrats on your new job!
Wow! I'm totally inspired ✨ 😌 ☺ 🙌
100% agree!
I’ll be like 40 when I go back so never too late! Haha. I’m only ten years older than most of my RN new grad counterparts 😂
but you don't look 10 years older. That has to count for something right?
Yay for you, AlyssaAllDay!! I second Nurse Liz -- you look 25! :)
Me too.☺️ We’re awesome. 😆
Me too!
I'm 37 and thinking about it. Plus I have kids too!
You got this!! If you can tackle that, you can tackle this!
Take that leap and the net will appear.
I'm very sure that this is what I need to do..I'm 40. Started in January. And I'm doing 4yr training programme..I'm killing it. Loving it more.
That’s awesome!!
"I'm killing it" -- LOVE that! :)
Congrats sis!! ❤ this definitely gives me more motivation to move forward!

I'm 40 yrs old. Almost done with my ADN and I have enjoyed every single step of this process. I am going straight to my BSN after I'm done :)
Love the age range of your cohort! Your story is so inspiring - good for you! :)
I don’t know what to do😔
Go for it, don’t let anything stop you. Let God do the rest. Good luck.🙏🏽
@@bronxbludiamond2463 you can do this, it is possible. Did you do it?
What a cool spread of people! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing that!
I thank God to finally get this step and hope my grandma will be proud of me
I'm so sorry to hear about your Grandma :( What an incredible thing to use that experience to fuel a career. She will be so proud
Nurse Liz thank you😊 I’m a new loyal subscriber I’ve been watching all your videos prepping myself for this journey
Thank you for posting this. I’ll be in my 50’s when I graduate and hope to work for 20 yrs before I retire

Really needed to hear this I'm older (37) have kids and definitely feel like I've wasted time.
You have so much usable experience! And if you've raised humans you can do ANYTHING.
Same here I’m 38 a single mum and am starting my nursing degree a week from Monday. We can do anything 👌

How did you get on?
Do it! You will never have to worry the rest of your life about how you're going to put food on the table or how you're going to put a roof on in the house or what you're going to do when you're my age. I'm 66 and I'm living on 987 a month. That's the extent of my social security. I'm going to nursing school now!
Thank you fir coving this topic . I am in my 60s and having been thinking I am too old😊
Hi I am 46 yrs old and I decided to finally to go for it.
I'm so glad it was helpful! Fingers crossed for your application! And congrats on beasting through those prereqs!

Hi Liz
This topic has been wrestling in my head and I'm so at peace with this video and the rest of the people following their passion. I've been losing sleep and beating myself up for not knowing and not chosing this path sooner. Im taking my prereqs currently. Love my classes, and have been in a different field since I graduated college.
I feel the same girl, how did you go?
I love everything about this!!!
Im 28 years old, single mom and fulltime veterinary technician doing anesthesia at a specialty hospital
Hopefully will start pre reqs soon
Thank you for this💞

Rock it out, Nori!!! :)

If you can momma 3 humans, you will beast through nursing school. Or really anything you want. You got this!
I was in the same boat and gratuated with BSN May 2019. You can do this!! :)
I’m 31 and just now looking into taking this path. I had to drop out of college at 20 after my first year due to my health. I make pretty good money as a server in a nice restaurant and am a few months away from having my massage license. I don’t have kids yet but I want a happy family with kids and a stable income helping people. just felt like sharing since I enjoy reading others comments and stories.... thanks for the videos!! 💕

Congrats on school! You're gonna rock!
God Bless!
Thank you for this video. Turning 48 in August I seriously was very hesitate to pursue this but your video gave me the encouragement.
Same. I'll be 47 starting my degree in march next year (2021)
I’m 29 switching from elementary teaching. This was so helpful I love your videos so encouraging. I’ll be starting my program in January
You're gonna rock!
I agree with you 110%!
So excited that there's so many people out here that are older going to nursing school .....I'm 52 Starting in January
I wish I could "like" this video a million times.
I keep this one in my bookmarks for moments where I need a reminder/encouragement. You are the best Liz!
I’m proud of you(:
I'm so glad it's encouraging for you! You got this!!
What a phenomenal background to go into nursing!
So inspiring to see all the different ages people pursued their nursing careers here in the comment section. You won't be alone, Lexie! :)
Congrats. I will be accompanying you as well. Father of twin boys also. Looking for a career change from Realtor to RN.
Tina, SUCH great people skills! And I'm convinced if you have had TWINS you can literally do anything.
Totally agree! Plus, you probably have fabulous hair being a stylist and all! ;)
I juuust turned 34 and I’m continuing my pursuit of ADN after leaving my prerequisites 5 years ago to start a production company. All I have to say is I have no regrets about stopping and starting again. The difference is now I’m more focused than ever! Thank you for your inspiration Liz!
awesome!!!
Started the 4 year program bscn @ 36 with 2 kids.
So true! I just graduated at 34. My friend was 50. Everyone has their own timeline.
That will be such a cool background! And you could even incorporate the two if you ever wanted to do that! Best of luck with everything!
Hi Kylie, did you start nursing school? I see this comment was 8 months ago. Good luck!
Thank you for this video I'm 26 going to nursing school and I feel like I started too late. This video encourages me!
you got this!
You’ve gained a subscriber and IG follower.
what an amazing example you are setting for your daughter!
I'm 41 and starting nursing school for a BSN in Sept.
those programs are going to LOVE your research experience!!
Get it!! thats awesome!
I’ll be 42 this year and will probably get into the nursing program this fall. I have 9 kids ages 8-22, and don’t regret staying with them all these years.
Momma. If you have 9 kids, nursing school will be easy! And how lucky they were to have you home for them!
Girl!!! I take my hat off too you!!!!!!! I have 5 and I know it can be a lot! I'm currently in school with only two prerequisites left! Congrats to u girl and keep pushing!
Victoria tucker I wish I had people like you around me. You are a motivator
I did all my prerequisites years ago and stop now I regret ever stopping.
How exciting!! You're gonna rock!!
You are so motivating nurse Liz and I’ve been watching you since the beginning of my journey since I started taking pre-Rex back in 2018. I am now over halfway through to getting my RN and I’m 35 years old. Keep doing what you’re doing you’re helping so many of us.
You’re soo right… I have lived life and there isn’t too much that surprises me. Thx!
Soo so true! Stress can really bring a group of people together!
