This video has started an entire argument of misinformation. You could have made it very clear that Illyrians were not Slavs, and the most likely descendants of Illyrians were our neighbors the Albanians. This is very common knowledge you could locate just using AI like chat gpt or doing your own independent searches. You have a very big audience therefore i think you have a responsibility to spread truth and facts based on dna, research and hisotircal evidence. We now literally have slavs in the comments claiming they're Illyrians, its a bit of a joke.
You said that we don't know ilirian language there are still Albanian words today that ilirian use. Exampl word Troja the most of world knows Troja as movie. But to us Albanian word Troja has meaning Troja means to Albanian a country land fundament of house or city or country that is used today by us Albanian.
Naturaly as long as other people in there region realize that only my people are decednd from Illyrians and no other group whatsoever. We definitely have no Celtic,Roman,Greek and Gotic influence whatsoever 100% Illyrian. They also need to realize that due to that fact we are the only ones native to the balkans and everyone else kind of came along later. :P
@@agronacilius4584100% this. When the south Slavs came all the Illyrians in the entire Western Balkans/Former Yugoslavia packed up and moved to Albania where their descendants are. Everybody knows this.
@@Anonymous07192Do you think that most people could just pack and move where they like in the 7th century? The truth is that by the time the South Slavs arrived in what is today ex-Yugoslavia the Illyrians had already become Romanised a few centuries prior. When the Slavs took over these Romanised Illyrians were assimilated by the Slavs.
the slavs has arrived in Illyricum after 6'th sentury, of course a lot of them are half slavs and half illyrians....like in Croatia, in Bosnia or even in Slovenia.
Yllirians name origine can be explained by people who are their direct successors in the Balkans today, the Albanians. Ilir means free, to be free. They were the natives of these regions, and Albanian language today is still the oldest in Europe, and with Armenian are the only languages not branched to any other language in the world. Unique!
Did not mention the most famous emperors like Constantine the Great, who was born in todays Nish(Nissus), Serbia. Aurelian, Claudius 2, Maximus, Justinian the Great etc. Such a shame for this great youtube history channel.
Also, not a single word on the Martian invasion of 543 bc where Star Emperor Namrak III abducted the Cherusci people, taking them back in time and compelling them to build the pyramids.

@@DarkEagle99 As in archeological? Lingusitic? Writtten? Because you have none of those. The fact is Iyrians over the years assimilated with Greeks, Romans, Slavs, and everyone else who entered the region. That's where they went. Pythagoras means 'Heart of the Serpent', he was born in Sidon, a fishing Port in Phoenicia. His mother received a prophecy from the Oracle at Delphi that he would become a great Leader & Teacher. Sidon means 'Kingdom of the Fish', & the Essenes, who wrote the Dead Sea scrolls, worshipped Pythagoras. The Sarcophagus of Eshmun III found in Sidon names him as the 'Widow's Scion', aka Hiram Abiff, Founder of Freemasonry, of which Tyre was the premier Capital (at least equal to Thebes). In 911BC Rameses II married the Queen of Sidon, home of Jezebel (Daughter or consort of Baal, ie "Queen") founding Neo Assyrian Babylon, an alliance between Egypt & Hiram, Father of Jezebel, & King of Assyria; forming the Phoenician colonies, & building the Temple of Melqart to commemorate their alliance. The Si in Sidon is the basis of the Latin Exe, or X, and is the basis of the Cross, or Chi Rho that Constantine painted on his shields. Also known as the Cross of Tyre, or Cross of Baal, being Ra-El, or Ba'El. Using Euler's number to map irrational numbers also produces a Templar Cross: ie where Eclipses are most likely to occur, called the 'Saros' Cycle. This cross can also be seen around the neck of Nimrod in Assyria, consistent with the Union Jack, & Solstice Calendar found in the Vatican's Shiva Lingam. Shiva is the Hebrew word for 7, & their culture also found its way to Korea & Japan (via the Philippines) ultimately becoming Shintoism. It was the Phoenicians who gave their name to the Pole Star, _Phoenice,_ which they used to Navigate the Oceans using the Zodiac, that's what the Antikythera mechanism was for, & with it they wrote the Byblos Baal; what we now call the Bible. The first form of the Bible was written in 325BC & called 'Vaticanus Graecus', or 'Son of the Sacred Serpent', ie Sirius, the basis of the Sothic Calendar, which uses a Hex Decimal & base 60 system found in all Megalithic sites around the world. In the second century AD the Astronomer Valentinus Vettori transcribed it into a Lunar chart of 13 houses, what we now call the Zodiac. Horoscope means 'Star Watcher', or 'Time Keeper' & the Phoenician word for Saturn, or El, was *_Israel_* or _El,_ (Fruit) of Isis (Ishtar) & (Amin) Ra. Equally El is the 'Father' of Ra the Sun, & Consort of Isis the Earth Mother, ergo _'El Ptah'_ is the *Moon* or Set. Phoenicia was the interim between Egypt & Greece, with artisans & culture exceeding that of the Greeks, whom literally adopted the Phoenician Alphabet, which we still use to this day; sounding out words phonetically. 'Phoenician' is alliterated in 'Venetian', & 'Vikings', being Kings of the Sea, [Sea Pharoahs] El is the primary God of the Phoenicians, representing the offspring of Egypt, & his consort Astarte or Ishtar represents the Assyrian half of the alliance. Such lineages & alliances can be traced (through the naming of gods) to Ireland & the Vikings, Indonesia, the Americas; even as far away as Australia, & New Zealand. It denotes Sirius as 'Son' of Orion & Pleiades, which sits at 33 degrees of the Zodiac. The basis of the Sothic (Seth) Decan Calendar of the Egyptians. The New Moon in this position marks Rosh Hashanah, the Egyptian, Celtic, Phoenician, & Assyrian New Year, with the first New Moon of September, so called as it's the 7th House of the Zodiac, when the Sun is in Ophuichus. 'Phoenix', 'Benben', or 'Bennu', is Egyptian for 'Heron', or Feathered 'Serpent'. It baptised itself in frankincense & myrrh at Baalbek, then alights atop the Great Pyramid, upon the Holy Grail, or Altar of Ra, every 630 years to take three days off the calendar; during the course of the first New Moon of Nisan, which means 'Prince'. The Capstone of Pyramids is even called the Benben or Bennu. The Phoenix is found in all religions, which are all Astrological Allegory for the Moon travelling through the Constellations as a soul migrating from body to body. Thus is the basis of Joseph Campbell's Monomyth, or 'Hero's Journey' with the cycles & orbits of the planets serving as portents, omens, allies, etc. Thus Astrology was the Science of the Bronze Age & Reincarnation was the early teaching of the Gnostic Christian Church, & relates to the lineage of Kings: "The Pan is Dead! _Long live Pan!"_ The Bennu is the Egyptian Phoenix, to Phoenicians the Hoyle, Etruscans saw birds as sacred too, as did Celts, & Picts. Hebrew & Iberia have the same root; meaning _'over'_ ie _'overseas'_ or 'those [whom travel] over [the] sea'. A colony called Iberia also appeared on the Eastern shores of the Black Sea, with the same Dolmen & Megalithic culture originating in Ireland and Brittany circa 4500BC. _Phoenician_ means 'Scion of the Phoenix', the first Bible: Vaticanus Graecus; 'Scion of the Sacred Serpent' (Prince). Then there's the Essenes; :Sons of Light', the Tuatha De Danaan; Sons of Light, Anunnaki; Sons of Light, Arthur Pendragon; Arthur [Thor] 'Son of the Dragon'. Chertoff is Russian for "Son of the Devil" & Dracula also means 'Scion of the Dragon'. Masons call themselves the "Brotherhood of the Great White Serpent", & the Ziggurat of Anu denotes her as a great white Serpent too, while at New Grange & the Bru na Boinne, Ireland (4000BC) the white quartz ramparts also denote the Moon. The Moon itself travels either side of the Solar Elliptic by 5 degrees through specific constellations in a serpentine fashion that is always changing, but repeats every 19 years, the time it took to train a Druid or Magi, Magi meaning 'Teacher'. The Phoenix is also associated with this sacred number 19. "Pharoah" means 'Great House' or 'House of Light' & Cairo used to be called Babel. Pharaohs were called 'Commander in Chief' & wore a hooded crown representing feathers, as do Native American Chiefs, ie the Feathered Serpent. Aztecs also had 'Serpent Kings', (Canaan means Serpent Kings, & Sidon was a Son of Canaan & Great Grandson of Noah) who were called to lead with "cunning & guile" being the virtue of their "right to rule"; being seen as "just" in public, while shrewd in private. "As wise as Serpents, (while appearing as) _gentle_ as Doves." The old Egyptian flag of an Eagle holding a Snake is also reflected in the Modern Mexican flag, denoting the Constellations of Serpentis (13th sign of the Zodiac) and Aquila. The dimensions & 12 mathematical constants of the Great Pyramid are also expressed in New Grange, & Stonehenge, as well as in Watson Brake, (2500BC) & Teotihuacan, which correlates to the Phoenician/ Sumerian Seximal system, which is what our modern systems of time are based on, unlocking a fractal pattern reflected in the musical chord, electrical resistance, relative Planetary orbits, indeed; throughout _all_ creation. Officially no one knows who invented Astrology, the Zodiac, navigation by the stars, or time keeping. But whoever built the pyramids, & pioneered the 24hr clock in Egypt 5000 years ago already knew the exact dimensions of the Earth, & the speed of light. Because these can all be calculated using these Megalithic sites as a Surveyor use a Theodolite. Specifically at Teotihuacan; 230 degrees opposite Cairo, & with the exact same footprint. The ideal positions to determine the speed of light using the transit of Venus, allowing for accurate Longitude for Maritime navigation. Capt Cook did the same thing in 1774 when he 'discovered' Easter Island. The only culture that fits the bill was wiped out "not one stone upon the other" by the Romans in 146BC. Tyre, the capital of Phoenicia (Israel) sat just offshore from Ursu Salaam: City of the New Moon; City [or 'Rock'] of Peace; root of the name _'Jerusalem'_ & was also seized by Rome in 70AD after a 3.5 year siege. The gap between is 216 years (6x6x6). Greek Dionysians built the Temple of Solomon (now called the Temple of Melqart) representing the Solar Lunar (Solomonic) Metonic Calendar on which this system is based. They also carried mirrors, a practice associated with Magi, Druids, Greeks, & Egyptian scholars. These Mirrors are Astrological charts called 'Cycladic _Pans'_ & record the cycles of the planets. The first Temple of Melqart ( Phoenician Horus, Hercules, Pan, Thor) represents the 13th Constellation of Ophiuchus or 'Serpent Bearer' (hence Orphic Serpent worship) & had pillars of Emerald (Jasper) & Gold, ie Isis (Tree of Life) and Osiris (Tree of Knowledge). The Jerusalem Temple only took payment in "Shekels of Tyre" a currency minted during the Jewish rebellion against Rome, hence _"give that which is Caesar's unto Caesar"_ When Alexander sacked Tyre in 332BC they moved to Carthage meaning "New City" or New Jerusalem, & built a second temple with Pillars of Bronze. Nebuchadnezzar also sieged Tyre for 13 years, taking the City captive in 573BC: the same time as the biblical account of the Jews, (& again the Romans in 70AD after a 3.5 year siege, also consistent with the same biblical accounts). Palaset was the name of a tribe of the Sea Peoples, Pallas _Set_ denotes the New Moon of Ammun Ra rising in Gemini, the *Pallas* Constellation of the Twins "that stand before Orion", due West of the Temple between the Gates [Pillars] of Gibraltar; "Gabriel's Altar", ie 'Pallas Stein', or Pallas Stone, 'Phallus' or Philosopher's Stone: the _"Rising Son"._ So 'Wormwood', like 'Tyre' means 'Bitter Rock', for the same reason; as the Son rising from the 'Bitter' [Salt or 'Black'] Sea of the Underworld; The 'Black Rock' or 'Gatestone' 🌑 The Cross of Tyre or Ba'El ❌ represents Lunar maximums & minimums & correlates with the Cross Quarter days of the Solstice Calendar. Align the Cross ❌ Chi Rho Christian ✝️ & Star 🔯 to the Zodiac, & you have a Compass & Timepiece that correlates to the Nautical Mile; allowing for global Maritime navigation. It is in fact an Astrological allegory for a Sothic Metonic Saros Zodiac Calendar using Accusations in a Mirror 🪞 *A Phoenix **_Cypher_*

Thank you for making a documentary about Ilirians. Albanians are the only remaining authoctonous peoples group that still have preserved and use the Ilirian language customs and Names, although Ilyrian DNA is to be found from Croatia all the way to Northern Greece (Epirus). Ilir ( i lirë) in Albanian means free, referring to the free tribes inhabiting the whole Ilirian peninsula ( the concept of the Balkan Peninsula was created much later by a big blunder of the German geographer August Zeune in 1808, Balkan means 'chain of wooded mountains in Turkish). Albanians still use names as Agron, Teuta, Genti, Taulant, Afërdita, Adri-an/atik to name their children and this practice it is common. For example: the name Bardhyli ( king of Dassaretis) means White star ( bardh-white; yll-star), many other names can be explained or broken down in their meaning by Ilyrian-Albanian embryomorphemes. Even the name of Dua Lipa has a meaning (dua - want/wish or love)
Genetic testing has shown that Croats living along along the Dinaric Alps (both sides of the Croatia and Bosnia border) have up to 71% Illyrian DNA. Genetically, northern Albanians have about 20% Illyrian DNA and even less in the south.
@@libertas5552 I am sceptic about DNA % ( unless hard evidence of large groups of DNA tests in Croatia and Albania are made). Fact is that those Ilyrian tribes that were far north although gave the slavic tribes their Christian religion ( and might have retained purer DNA in the alps also in Albania) over the years were asimilated by the slavs and adopted the slavic language and customs. Albanians and Dardanians are the only Tribes that have retained the language and were convertet to Islam ( one of the reasons) in order to retain their Identity. In fact in all the other regions in the Ilyrian peninsula where the Ilyrians remained Christians, Catholic in the North or Orthodox in the south were asimilated and with the centuries are no longer considered Ilyrians. I can say that is true for christian Albanians living in regions of Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia and Greece. Because the Church proclaimed that only Greek, Latin and later on Cyrillic languages were languages of liturgy and as such the only ones accepted by God , all the other languages were considered cursed and destined to vanish and were discouraged and no longer used even in the family nucleus. " If a mother does not teach her own language to a child that language is destined to die"

To make a documentary about the Illyrians, and not having the courage to elaborate on their direct descendants until our days, is an intellectual weakness and a superficial approach to the issue. It is unprofessional to include their heirs in just one sentence, "as a result of modern nationalist movements"! - Sometimes there is one kind of defensive nationalism that can simultaneously be based on some scientific truth. Is there proof that Albanians are the descendants of the ancient Illyrians? Yes, there is proof: 1: Albanian has words from the ancient Doric dialect. Why is this proof? Well, Doric‐Greek went extinct 2000 years ago, meaning that those words, even if they are loanwords must have entered at least 2000 years ago. This proves that Albanians must have lived close to Dorians (or the Dorians themselves were part of their Illyrian origin). 2: The Albanian vocabulary consists of a high percentage of Latin (Vulgar) loanwords. Meaning that Albanians must have lived in, or close to a place where Latin (Vulgar) was spoken. 3: We do actually have some remnants of the Illyrian language. I introduce Messapic: Messapic inscriptions. Messapic was an Illyrian dialect and it does show simulaties only with Albanian. 4: Albanians (or Arbanians) were first mentioned by Hecataeus of Miletus (550-476 BCE) under the name Abroi (Ἄβροι), Arboi, Abros (since 6th century BCE, in fragment 69 of Periodos ges, cited by Stephanus of Byzantium in 6th century CE). The name of the tribe is recorded in Ancient Greek as Abroi. But Ptolemy (egyptian astronomer, mathematician, and geographer) is the first authors who mentions them under the name Albanoi, in 150AD (2nd century CE), in his geography he cites the "Albanoi" as an Illyrian tribe living in Albanopolis, Macedonia (now central Albania). From a single tribe the name spread to include the rest of the country as Arbëri and, finally, Albania. The archaeological site of Zgërdhesh, thought to be the site of the ancient city of Albanopolis, city of the Illyrian Albanoi tribe. It's a huge site, with well preserved walls & towers, & the remains of stepped 'streets' cut from the rock. 5: Those few language elements which are known as Illyrian can be explained through the Albanian language, and no other. Linguists point out many technical similarities between Illyrian and Albanian words. Illyrian toponyms, ancient Illyrian place names for cities, rivers, and mountains, are preserved today in the Albanian language, and only in Albanian. The names of Balkan villages usually lasted only a few centuries, for villages were often destroyed altogether during wartime. Cities lasted longer, so their names were usually older. But rivers, lakes and mountains endured through the centuries, and their ancient names usually continued in use. Even new inhabitants usually adopted the old names, just as American colonists adopted many old Indian place names in the United States. Accordingly, Albanian linguists have found more than 300 names of ancient cities like Shkodra, rivers like the Drin and mountains like Tomor which were mentioned by ancient Greek and Roman geographers or historians and which are still in use in Albania. Scholars show how the rules of historical phonetics explain any changes of spelling over the centuries from Illyrian to Albanian, as Scupi to Shkup, Scodra to Shkodra, Lissus to Lezha, Durrachium to Durrës, Drinus to Drin, Mathis to Mat. Certainly the Albanian language is derived from the Illyrian (Cabej 1985, 42-62). Illyrian proper names continue in use among present-day Albanians. Many of the individual Illyrian names of persons were preserved on epitaphs and inscriptions on coins. Then the names of other people like the Illyrian rulers Agron and Teuta were mentioned by Greek or Roman historians. The Albanian scholar Mahri Domi have identified 800 of these (Liria 15 October 1982; 1 November 1983). The numerous marine terms for sea plants and animals in the Albanian language show that these people lived along the coast on what would correspond with Illyrian territory (AT 1983, 1:44-45). Then there are other words in Albanian which Greek or Roman writers long ago explicitly identified as Illyrian in origin. Down through the centuries many once great peoples have been either destroyed or assimilated by others so as to disappear altogether. But the Illyrian people with their distinctive dress, music, customs and especially their language have persisted in their shrinking territory along the western shore of the Balkan Peninsula. With no record or tradition even hinting at their extermination or assimilation or migration, one can only assume their unbroken historical continuity. There seems to be no question but that the present-day Albanians are the historically uninterrupted descendants of the lllyrians who were known to have inhabited that same region in early Greek and Roman times. 6. The latest genetic (DNA) data prove the same scientific theory, that today's Albanians are direct heirs of the Illyrians, Illyro-Thracians, or this paleo-Balkan people. Read more: rrenjet.com/the-albanian-dna-project-rrenjet/ - Although historical logic places the burden of proof on those who oppose the direct lineage of the Illyrians to the Albanians (if they can find evidence to the contrary, let them present those), however, even though the Illyrians have left little data, we can still prove this continuity.
There was no written ethnic language in the ancient time. Albanian is a hearth language, a vernacular one. Still, their written language used to be their religious languages Latin and Greek, because Latin and Greek are NOT ethnic languages, but Sacred ones. The written language has always been an attribute of the religion because it has been created for liturgy. This is the simple reason, you don’t find and you will never find in the future, any Albanian inscription, or Thracian one, or Illyrian one, Epirotic one, or Macedonian one, you always will find them in “Greek” or “Latin” the languages of their religion. Info + Illyrians predated Slavs in the Balkans. Greeks and Illyrians have in common both being directly Yamnayan language (in addition to that remaining pre-Indo-European Neolithic incorporated into the Indo-European identity) which only Albanian, Greek, and Armenian are today. Otherwise, many orthodox Albanians from the north and east ethnic regions of Albanians, were assimilated into south Slavic identities (such as Serb, Croatian, Bosnian, Montenegrin, and Bulgarian/Macedonian; also the many other orthodox Albanians of the south region, were assimilated into the new Greek identity. This is a percentage of these south Slavics of today and Greeks of today, who have some Illyrian DNA (through assimilated Albanians). The latest genetic (DNA) data prove the same scientific theory: today's Albanians are direct heirs of the Illyrians, Illyro-Thracians, or this paleo-Balkan people. Various words from the Thracian language have been recorded in 6th BC, the people who were the second most numerous of all and inhabiting most of the Balkans according to Herodotus, and linguists say with certainty that the Albanian language has no relation with the paleo-balkan Thracian language following a thorough comparative analysis of structure and vocabulary.

While the Illyrians are largely recorded under the ethnonyms of Illyrioi (Ἰλλυριοί) and Illyrii, these appear to be misspelt renditions by Greek or Latin-speaking writers. Based on historically attested forms denoting specific Illyrian tribes or the Illyrians as a whole (e.g., Úlloí (Ύλλοί) and Hil(l)uri),the native tribal name from which these renditions were based has been reconstructed by linguists such as Heiner Eichner as *Hillurio- (< older *Hullurio-). According to Eichner, this ethnonym, translating to 'water snake', is derived from Proto-Indo-European *ud-lo ('of water, aquatic') sharing a common root with Ancient Greek üllos (ϋλλος) meaning 'fish' or a 'small water snake'.The Illyrian ethnonym shows a dl > ll shift via assimilation as well as the addition of the suffix -uri(o) which is found in Illyrian toponyms such as Tragurium. Eichner also points out the tribal name's close semantic correspondence to that of the Enchelei which translates to 'eel-people', depicting a similar motif of aquatic snake-like fauna. It is also pointed out that the Ancient Greeks must have learned this name from a tribe in southern Illyria, later applying it to all related and neighbouring peoples. The name Enchelei is thought to have meant "eel people", as in Ancient Greek ἔγχελυς means "eel", like in modern Albanian ngjalë "eel" < Illyrian *engella, possibly cognates to Latin: anguilla "eel" and Lithuanian: ungurỹs "eel". The connection with Albanian ngjalë makes it possible that the name Enchele was derived from the Illyrian term for eels, which may have been anciently related to Greek and simply adjusted to the Greek pronunciation. An Indo-European pre-form of the root still can not be reconstructed. For this reason, Robert S. P. Beekes considers it Pre-Greek, which matches the timeframe of an early Illyrian origin of the ethnonym through the legendary story of Cadmus and the Enchelei. The term taulantii is connected with the Albanian word dallëndyshe, or tallandushe, meaning 'swallow'.The ethnonym Chelidonioi also reported by Hecateus as the name of a tribe neighboring the Taulantii is the translation of the name Taulantii as khelīdṓn (χελιδών) means "swallow" in Ancient Greek. The name suggests the practice of animal totemism, which was widespread among Illyrian peoples.
The area by the Lakes and Black Drin River where northern Greeks and southern Illyrian tribes met it`s known for having an unusual large number of eels.

I have not watch other documetaries you have created, but this one on Illyrians seems pretty vague. You say a lot, and than you say nothing. Additionally, I do not understand why you have to be so cynical and passive aggressive in your comments. What nationities do we have in todays Ballkans? We have Greeks who were called Helens, we have south slavs (Croats, Slovenians, Bulgarians, and Serbs) who came to Ballkans in VII century and than we have the Albanians who are the direct descendants of Illyrians. If you do some digging you will find out that only through Geg - Albanian you can understand names such as Pirro, Aleksander, Aferdita, Bardhyl, etc. We Albanians are proud of our history, and there is nothing wrong with that. No matter how much the world has tried to erase us from the face of the earth, we have managed to survive to the XXI century. Empires have come and gone, but we're still here. We still speak Geg Dialect of Albanian language, which is the oldest language in Europe. So please, in the future work a little bit more on the content. The Illyrian language is said to have possibly survived and adapted into Albanian. The word Ilir means free, the Latinization of Illyr could have caused these letters to change. Also 11:28 Agron is still a name used in Albania, especially Teuta 11:57. Teuta (at least today) is not pronounced "Toota" but more "Te-oo-ta". Both names are still used today in Albania. Naturally we cannot be certain of pronunciation with how much the language has changed over the thousands of years.
Aha, yeah right...tell that to the goats the Albanians were brought to herd and watch over from Asia in the 13th century. Albanians are goat herders brought to Balkans in the 13th/14th century, originating from Middle Asia and Caucasus, they have nothing in common with Illyria apart from occupying that particular living space. Albanian language has no similarities whatsoever with anything ancient apart from present day Greek from which they incorporated many words and some Turkish words as well.

@@horizongtrx1417Aside from genetic connections (ev-13 gene) with the Illyrians there are many others, both in etymology and in culture, I'll name a few as examples, first and foremost we have the "plis" (pileus) hat worn by ancient Paleo-Balkanic people it is an integral part of the Albanian folk costume, after that we also have the "fustanella" it's origin is sort of disputed but all theories support an ancient origin as these types of skirts were very common in Ancient Greece, Illyria and even Rome, on top of that we also have the "xhubleta" it too has an ancient origin. Moving on from clothing, we have the Albanian Iso-polyphony a very rare type of singing which is also under protection of UNESCO, thought to originate from Illyrians a similar type of singing can also be found among Croats from Herzegovina and is called "ojkanje" (or ganga). We also have the Pyrrhic dance of Rugova. Then the tribal system which appeared in Albania during the middle ages, it was inherited from ancient Illyrian social structures. Then we have "Gjama e burrave", men's lamentation of the dead or just Gjama in the south performed by women, you can look up the videos of gjama and then I'd recommend reading "Achilles lamenting the death of Patroclus", you'll find striking similarities, almost identical. On top of that we have the Dita e Verës (days of summer) which connect back to Illyrian worship of the sun, along with zjarret e vitit, bonefires which are lit on the summer day, I can continue on this connection but the comment will be too long. In Byzantine literature, references to Illyria as a defined region in administrative terms end after 1204 and the term specifically began to refer only to the more confined Albanian territory. in the acts of the Second Council of Nicaea from 787, Nikephoros of Durrës signed himself as "Episcopus of Durrës, province of the Illyrians". After all of that we have etymological proof, as I've already mentioned "plis", referring to the pileus, then "thika" meaning knife/blade in modern Albanian, as you may know the most famous sword Illyrians used was the "sica", after that we have "shpata" derived from the Ancient Greek/Roman "spatha", then we have Illyrian toponyms (connected mostly to animals and plants as part of Illyrian naming tradition), dardhë (pear) - Dardania; delmë (sheep) - Delmatae (later Dalmatia); dallëndyshe/tallandushe (swallow bird) - Taulantii. The fact that the majority of loan words in Albanian are from Latin and that there's a good number of rare ancient Greek loan words should also tell you something. If you want me to I can name over 15 historians/scientists who support the Illyrian thesis, even the university of Belgrade (subject Balkanology) offers three possible origins of Albanians, Illyrian, Thracian and Dacian.
The truth hurts, but the truth is that Albanians are of Iliro-Pellasian origin. Albanians are the only ethno-linguistic descendants of the Illyrians. It is accepted that the Albanian language descends from Illyrian or an Illyrian dialect. Fun fact: the name "Molossi", the tribe to which Pyrrhus and Alexander the Great's mother belonged to has an Albanian etymology (origin). This is an indication the Pyrrhus of Epirus and Alexander the Great's mother were Illyrian/Albanian.
The Shqiptare are the most brainwashed of all the Balkan peoples. A modern nation created in 1912 of people brought in from the caucuses and created from converts to Islam and the treacherous fleeing communists who were turned into "Illyrians" by the communist Hoxha to claim land. The connections are all fabricated or exist from the converts they absorbed.
Just theories. According to modern scholars Albanian probably descents from Dacro-Thracian rather then Illyrian at least linguistically. Also Mollosians were a confirmed Greek tribe and not part of the the Illyrians.Firstly they participated in Olympic Games, secondly there are many inscriptions written in their Greek northwestern dialect (mostly found at Dodona) and last they had Greek costumes-religion.
@@most_wanted_gsxr4221 According to the majority of modern linguists, Albanian descends from Illyrian or an Illyrian dialect. They use the following arguments for their conclusion. There are toponyms in the Balkans that have acquired their modern form following proto-Albanian phonetic rules. Example: Naissus became Nish following proto-Albanian phonetic rules. Astibos became Shtip. Aulona became Vlonë and then Vlorë following proto-Albanian phonetic rules. This means that proto-Albanian was spoken in these regions (where the Illyrians lived). There are also toponyms, ethnonyms and anthroponyms which have an Albanian etymology. Example: Dardania originates from proto-Albanian "darda" (pear). The Illyrian name Bardylis originates from proto-Albanian "bardza". The Albanian word "thikë" (knife) is believed to have originated from the Illyrian "sica" (short dagger). I could go on and on. As for the "Molossi" having an Albanian etymology, you don't have to take my word for it. Look up the etymology of the Albanian word "Malësi" (highland). It is related to the ancient tribe of the Molossi. Malësi comes from the word "Mal" meaning "Mountain". The Albanian word "mal" is believed to have originated from Illyrian "mol-on". That means that the etymology of "Molossi" is Illyrian/Albanian and that is an indication that the Molossi were Illyrian/Albanian. The last name "Malushi" is common among Albanians which is very close phonetically to "Molossi". Considering that Pyrrhus was adopted and raised by the Illyrian king Glaukus this makes all the more sense. There is no doubt that the Albanians are the ethno-linguistic descendants of the Illyrians and the Illyrians were much more influential than they would have us believe. Only Greeks and Slavs deny this truth. But the truth is difficult to hide.
Correction: 1. at min 2:26: "Illyria" was not as large, the real Illyrian land was called "Illyrii proprie dicti" and was much smaller, and that map should be used. And it is also not known whether Mesapisn were Illyrians. 2. at min. 3:24: Roman and Greek authors mention Albani / Albanoi as an Illyrian tribe, and in the same region there are still people who call themself Albanians, so how you can say, its nothing known? The question of origin has not been fully clarified, but the fact that people still identify with the same name cannot be ignored. I think it's a pity that you are politicizing. ( Taulantier is Dallendyshe (swallow) in Albanian, Dalmatia is Delm (Sheepland) in Albanian, Dardani is Dardhe (pear) in Albanian, see Matzinger & Schumacher ) 3. pity that the time of the Barrack-Emporer/Illyrian Emporer is not thematized, the centralization of the Roman power on the Danube Legion

When discussing the Illyrians, it is essential to recognize that this was a region inhabited by various tribes. It’s straightforward to identify these tribes, and the closest modern descendants are the Albanians. Ancient Illyrian kings' names and tribe names can be translated into Albanian. This also applies to tribe names, which indicate that they were pagans based on their nomenclature. The region of Illyria, a name given to them by outsiders, can be translated in Albanian to mean "the free people." The Macedonians spoke the same language as the Illyrian tribes, although they frequently fought each other. Alexander the Great managed to unite these tribes under one banner. Similarly, the Spartans, Athenians, Illyrians, and Trojans were all essentially the same people. The Romans didn’t fight all the Illyrian tribes collectively but rather engaged with individual tribes. Most Illyrian tribes did not resist Rome; instead, they assimilated into the Roman Empire. We must also consider that nationalist ideas did not exist in ancient times. Most people protected their region, even if they spoke the same language. To understand the Eirian history and its people you must understand the Albanian traditions and study the Albanian language and the answer is simple. You will find it in Albanian including the ancient gods starting with Zeus.

I am an old fan of your channel, but very disappointed that you totally ignored the albanians as direct descendants of the illyrians. Our culture, our distinct language, our folklore are proof of that. They hate the idea of the Albanians being autochthonous to the region. Greeks do not care but Serbs loose their minds. The Oxford latest genetics study on the Albanian had 3 Greek professors in it confirming ONCE again that Albanians descend from The Illyrians.
Illyrians may be one of the most enigmatic story ever told in Europe. They were giants, too huge to stay out of sight, yet we know so little about them! How can an empire of this nature exist for so many centuries, and we have nothing of their literature? Nationalism aside, I truly believe that Albanians have very close connection to Illyrians, or Dardans in particular. Apart from that, the only people have an ancestry of that old may be Hungarians and Romanians. But I cannot undestand how slavics can claim the origination to Illyrians when they came there at least 1,000 years later to Balkan. If you're asking if they mixed, then of course, every people is mixed, even greeks are 100% greeks, but please explain someone how slavs can claim to be ancestors of Illyrians, i am serious?
Croatians and Slovenes are Slavs by language because of the similarity/"simplicity" of Slavic language and it's strenght in numbers which lead it to dominate the area probably since the 8th century. There was mixture of languages troughout history from Latin, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Slavic, Albanian... In each willage in Croatia there was slight variation in dialect and etymology from all of the above languages. We the indigineous people of Dalmatia were simply outnumbered by immigrants and several time we went trough the process of loosing our real estate property, language and cultural identity. Medieval Montenegrian Historian Pop Dukljanin divided the Illyrian area into White Croatia and Red Croatia. Iliryan name and Croatian name was used as sinonym. P.S. regarding height. With my 190cm I am considered short in my family.

The Illyrians were a group of tribes who lived in the western Balkans during antiquity. The closest descendants of the Illyrians are generally considered to be the modern Albanians. This connection is based on linguistic, historical, and genetic evidence: 1. Linguistic Evidence: The Albanian language is considered by many linguists to be a direct descendant of the ancient Illyrian language. While the Illyrian language itself is poorly documented, certain linguistic features and vocabulary in Albanian suggest a continuity from the Illyrian language. 2. Historical Evidence: Historical records and accounts from ancient sources place the Illyrians in the regions that largely correspond to modern-day Albania, Kosovo, and parts of Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia. Over time, as the Roman Empire expanded and the Slavic migrations occurred, the Illyrians were assimilated or displaced, but in some areas, especially in mountainous regions, they retained their distinct identity, which is believed to have evolved into the modern Albanian identity. 3. Genetic Evidence: Genetic studies have shown that the populations in these regions have a significant degree of genetic continuity with ancient populations, including the Illyrians. While genetic links alone are not definitive proof of direct descent due to the complex history of migrations and mixing in the Balkans, they do provide supporting evidence. Thus, while it is difficult to draw a direct and unbroken line from the Illyrians to any modern group due to the complex history of the region, Albanians are widely regarded as the closest descendants of the Illyrians based on the available evidence.
@biljanakovacevic-og1tc gave us these documented facts about this migration. I usually read it from Serbs this theory, but never founded anywhere in history books. Give me the book name so I can check. I wish isn't Serbs history for elementary school.
I am Albanian and Illyrians were a bunch of different nationalities. Albanians history starts at Principality of Arbanon in 1190. Prior to that we have no history written anywhere. So dear albanians. Stop talking this bullshit online because u are making the rest of us look stupid.
How do you not know that many of the names you mentioned have meaning in Albanian? “I lire” means free. “I lire jam” means I am free. Bardhyl means white star. The strangeness of not mentioning the Albanian language connection to Illyrian is just weird and unscientific. The Albanian language is the only other big language besides Greek in the area to survive to this day. I am glad you made a clear distinction between when the Slavs arrived, as that is what happened. They came after the fall of Illyrians and had nothing to do with what happened there whatsoever.

Intresting fact Pear in albanian is Dardh So dardh in dardania? I think language can explain a lot. Di = Know Dua= want Dita= day Deti= sea Dy= two Yll= star Yje=stars The few names and words in etruscan illyrian and mesapian are enough to get the connection. Find me another language except illyrian in the world from which albanian is supossed to originate! If you think we fell from the sky or crawled from the underground that than we can stick with that but saying we came from turkey or whatever is just wrong and is supposed to offend but it does not.
Illyrian in Albanian means "Free people" and Illyria " Land of the free people". Many of their king names translate in Albanian etc. I believe some of these races such as Taulantii, Dardanii are the today Albanians. As for their language it is a shame that we do not have much evidence but my assumptions is that it was not much different from the spoken Albanian language of 12th century. Albanian term "appeared" after the disappearance of the Illyrian term which makes sense since they are a continuity of them.
Albanian language is mix of Latin/Ottoman/Greek and some pre Slavic ones! So it doesn’t mean NOTHING in Albanian, it means that Albanian has elements of other languages that match that

@@rodm8113 Me too...
'Phoenician' is alliterated in 'Venetian', & 'Vikings', being Kings of the Sea, [Sea Pharoahs]
El is the primary God of the Phoenicians, representing the offspring of Egypt, & his consort Astarte or Ishtar represents the Assyrian half of the alliance.
_Long live Pan!"_
The Bennu is the Egyptian Phoenix, to Phoenicians the Hoyle, Etruscans saw birds as sacred too, as did Celts, & Picts.
The Jerusalem Temple only took payment in "Shekels of Tyre" a currency minted during the Jewish rebellion against Rome, hence _"give that which is Caesar's unto Caesar"_
When Alexander sacked Tyre in 332BC they moved to Carthage meaning "New City" or New Jerusalem, & built a second temple with Pillars of Bronze. Nebuchadnezzar also sieged Tyre for 13 years, taking the City captive in 573BC: the same time as the biblical account of the Jews, (& again the Romans in 70AD after a 3.5 year siege, also consistent with the same biblical accounts).
Palaset was the name of a tribe of the Sea Peoples, Pallas _Set_ denotes the New Moon of Ammun Ra rising in Gemini, the *Pallas* Constellation of the Twins "that stand before Orion", due West of the Temple between the Gates [Pillars] of Gibraltar; "Gabriel's Altar", ie 'Pallas Stein', or Pallas Stone, 'Phallus' or Philosopher's Stone: the _"Rising Son"._ So 'Wormwood', like 'Tyre' means 'Bitter Rock', for the same reason; as the Son rising from the 'Bitter' [Salt or 'Black'] Sea of the Underworld; The 'Black Rock' or 'Gatestone' 🌑
The Cross of Tyre or Ba'El ❌ represents Lunar maximums & minimums & correlates with the Cross Quarter days of the Solstice Calendar. Align the Cross ❌ Chi Rho Christian ✝️ & Star 🔯 to the Zodiac, & you have a Compass & Timepiece that correlates to the Nautical Mile; allowing for global Maritime navigation.
It is in fact an Astrological allegory for a Sothic Metonic Saros Zodiac Calendar using Accusations in a Mirror 🪞

Illyrians were tall , not short big headed albanians

Yes, there is proof:
1: Albanian has words from the ancient Doric dialect.
I introduce Messapic:
Messapic inscriptions.

- Although historical logic places the burden of proof on those who oppose the direct lineage of the Illyrians to the Albanians (if they can find evidence to the contrary, let them present those), however, even though the Illyrians have left little data, we can still prove this continuity.

Illyrians predated Slavs in the Balkans.

We need part 2
😂
The area by the Lakes and Black Drin River where northern Greeks and southern Illyrian tribes met it`s known for having an unusual large number of eels.
All ancient peoples went through the stage of animal totemism in the development of their religions.

Albanians are goat herders brought to Balkans in the 13th/14th century, originating from Middle Asia and Caucasus, they have nothing in common with Illyria apart from occupying that particular living space. It's still unknown, who knows Illyrians might have connections with Italo-Celtic group or same group family with Greeks, Albanians, Armenians, Thracians and Dacians (Paleo Balkanite)!
Correction:
1. at min 2:26: "Illyria" was not as large, the real Illyrian land was called "Illyrii proprie dicti" and was much smaller, and that map should be used.
( Taulantier is Dallendyshe (swallow) in Albanian, Dalmatia is Delm (Sheepland) in Albanian, Dardani is Dardhe (pear) in Albanian, see Matzinger & Schumacher )

Guys thank you so much for spending so much time on Balkan history. If i wasn't a cheap Balkan man I would definetly join patreon; alas....

Not to mention that we are the only European people to inherit names such as Ilir, Dardan, Tulant, Teuta, Agron, Glauk, Bato, Pirro, Genti etc. We even live in the exact same territory for fs! You could at least speculate about it.
Yliria in Albanian means freedom, to be a free person, freedom of speech etc. Bardyli in Albanian means white star, Bardh Ylli. The Albanian language is similar to none other on earth. Servian language is similar to russian-mongolian languages. Serbians also looking like russian mongolian faces.
Check the credits of the video. It's literally "researched" and "written" by a Greek. Of course Albanians will be shunned.

LIBURNIA or LEBURNIA, Albanian Words only we Albanian can understand and translate for you.
To all Balkan people, what does "Illyria" mean in your language ?
😂 You’re wasting your time. Evidence doesn’t count for some people. Greeks are descendants of the Hellens but Albanians are not descendants of the Illyrians even that father DNA line says that we are and the language says that we are. You can’t make this up.
In Albanian it means the free ones
@shpirt1ilir greeks aren't no descendants of Hellenes. They are them. Officially it's the Hellenic Republic. Greece is what others call them which comes from latin Greacian (a greek/hellenic tribe in south Italy)

Funfact theory I read: The name illyrian may be based on a missunderstanding on first encounters by the romans as the sentence from old albanian " i lir jam" means "I am a freeman".

The Illyrians were a group of tribes who lived in the western Balkans during antiquity. The closest descendants of the Illyrians are generally considered to be the modern Albanians. This connection is based on linguistic, historical, and genetic evidence:
There is a little' problem with your theory - Albanians migrated to the Balkans 200 years after Illyrians were gone.
@biljanakovacevic-og1tc gave us these documented facts about this migration.
I usually read it from Serbs this theory, but never founded anywhere in history books.

Proud to be Albanian-Illyrian! We feel in many aspects our deep rooted autochtone connections. Our language survived for thousands of years and will survive until the earth will exist. The fact that you cannot find clear evidence about our language is understandable. At first, because there is not much written evidence by our ancestors, and then by the influence of other closeby empires and the continuous efforts to erase or overwrite our history by peninsula invaders (specially slavs) and all the other occupiers that have been present in our territories. 🇦🇱🇦🇱🇦🇱
