I remember the game Assassin's Creed: Origins had a DLC that was on Nabatean. But I never questioned how historically accurate the DLC was until now. Great video.
Great summary of the Nabataean era! Comprehensive and visually entertaining but it misses two important points: - The Nabataean script used for writing Arabic and Aramaic eventually gave rise to the modern Arabic alphabet which is still the second most widely used script in the world today. As an Arab people, the Nabataeans influenced other Arabs in the interior even before the rise of Islam and indirectly continued their influence well into the era of Muslim caliphates. - The video largely ignores the southern half of the Nabataean kingdom located in modern Saudi Arabia. Although shown in maps used for the video, the locations and history do not get a mention. The city of Hegra within that region functioned as the second capital for the Nabataeans after Petra! They conquered the area from the Dadanites to consolidate their control over the spice trade and left many architectural marvels there to this day. Framing them as a Levantine group does not do their civilization justice as they remained intertwined with their Arabian ancestors to the south and flourished in northern Arabia as one contiguous kingdom.

What a unique people and time period, I always wondered who built Petra, and what they believed in.
Edit: Gonna try to revive them in CK3
This was a good video 🙂
I cant wait for you guys to cover the numidians i think that they deserve an vidoe of their own since they fought both the Romans and the Carthaginians
I love this series of ROme 2 factions I never played because they seemed boring. First Ilyrians and now Nabateans
So much great content and so little time to see it.
Very informative ❤
Petra was the main city of the Arabian trade network it seems.

The people-group vids are always bangers lmao, love to watch
I will never not love this channel
Video idea: The Origins of the Ancient Israelites

I waited and you guys delivered. I really like that this channel covers civilizations and events that are covered by others yet you have succinctly put a better summary.
Amazing Vídeo.
I wish kings and general make a video about South East Asian history like Siamese-Burmese wars

Very interesting people 👏👏👏👏
Hey kings and generals, love your videos. I’m curious to know how you make your maps - I’m trying to teach people how big creators make their content. Thanks!

At some point
Not sure if you looked into this but the people of thamud and Aad are ones i would love to hear about. They were two people destroyed by God in the Quran but I would love to hear what archeology has found about them.
It was quite unprofessional of Kings and General editors and map workers to add cities like Baghdad and Basra, meanwhile dated on top of the video 106 CE @ 10:14. Those names and cities didn't exist at that time. Just gets me out of the video. I expect more precision in these videos. Otherwise, many more history channels are doing perfect work, but seeing these rookie errors on Kings and Generals would not make me hopeful for the channels' future. (Baghdad should have been Ctesiphon, and Basra did not exist at all in 106 CE)
while i agree, technically speaking, Baghdad is not in the exact same location as ancient Ctesiphon and they are about 20 miles apart.
@@WillOfEternity Not sure why the location is important here, important thing is that they are making stupid mistakes on these videos, I just think the channel has gotten too lazy with it's content and has fallen behind some of the other history channels.
Petra is so amazing a city carved inside of a mountain basically. It’s crazy how they did so much with there Stone Age and Bronze Age tools
Petra is perhaps the most beautiful thing produced by Arab architecture after the Alhambra Palace in Granada
