The funniest thing about this movie is that it was clearly meant to set up more shit (They were genuinely planning on doing a show about the secret history of Transformers on Earth), but within a week or two of its theatrical debut the marketing switched up to imply that this was the last one
Honestly, his music is too good for these movies. Like the music is so cool and inspires so much emotion, but the movie does nothing to actually match the emotion implied by the music. So in that way, the soundtrack is great as music, but not so much as a score. Like the music will be grand and emotional. But then the stuff on screen does nothing to reflect that, so it ends up feeling like the music is trying to compensate rather than elevate. This is what i like about rise of the beasts' music. While the compositions aren't as impressive as Jablonsky's per se, they're a lot more apropriate for the emotion the film intends for us to feel.
The thing about them being "canonically" called Transformers in this film and the one before this that makes it infinitely stupider is that they have for THE LONGEST TIME been known in other media and in the fandom as "Cybertronians". It's literally a devolution of already established lore.

I'm a hard-core Transformers fan. Been collecting the figures and following the media since I was 10 back in 2004. That said, I despise these films. It's been a delight rewatching these films and mocking them with you
You despise all of them ? because for me I grew up with the movies I enjoyed 1-4 but 5 not so much but after rewatching the films recently I only like 1 and 3 I think the films could have went in a better direction if they just got new writers and a director to work on the films after 3
@@giovonniiclayton 1 is the one I'm closest to liking, and parts of 3 and 4 are entertaining. The film series overall is embarrassing for me to look back on. The racist/crass humor hasn't aged well and the action (while spectacular) is messy and cluttered. All films in the series have bits of that. What makes me despise the films is the stigma around them. When I meet someone irl and they learn I like Transformers, the movies always come up. When I say I'm a diehard Transformers fan, I'm saying I like multiple series about cool robots with goofy names having a political conflict with equal parts cosmic horror themes or looney tune esqe humor or genuinely touching character moments. But in general, the public just associates Transformers with low-brow humor, hard to follow action, and shoddy filmmaking. I like some of the edgy film designs and the music by Steve Jablonsky always slaps, but the rest just makes me cringe.

I’ve heard that the Bumblebee movie was originally supposed to be about Bumblebee fighting the Nazis in WW2 but after the Last Knight bombed Bumblebee was reworked into the fun coming of age film we got and also left room to be a jumping off point for a possible reboot, which makes sense considering how much the new movies don’t make sense as canon to the bayverse.

@@demon-goat Yeah I had that question as well and it bothered me. I had to ask some friends who were more knowledgeable. But indeed they are not canon despite what some publications might say. From what I’ve gathered Bumblebee was originally suppose to be canon to the bayverse but as time went on it went in its own direction. At this point with how much Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts has deviated from the bay canon I don’t think it can be considered the same universe (unless of course they do some major retcons). I mean all the autobots look completely different and more closely resemble the original Gen 1 designs
The sheer level of how entirely fucking obliterated our planet would be is so funny that it gets brushed over. Like we have a planet attached to ours? Gravity, fucked, atmosphere likely getting pulled out into space, tides. Humanity is gone in like a decade tops.

When optimus said "what has happened to my world?" He was referring to why the planet has vegetation, separated into pieces connected with cables, and the fact that it's significantly smaller than it was in dark of the moon. Cybertron never looked like that in the previous movies. So, Optimus actually asked a valid question
That is because, when the Space Bridge was destroyed in Dark of the Moon. Half of Cybertron was able to survived the black hole, that sucked half of the Planet. Quintessa destroyed like half of any Planet that’s close to Cybertron. Some of them were organic, that mix with what’s left of Cybertron.

The funniest thing about this movie is that it was clearly meant to set up more shit (They were genuinely planning on doing a show about the secret history of Transformers on Earth), but within a week or two of its theatrical debut the marketing switched up to imply that this was the last one

Honestly, his music is too good for these movies. Like the music is so cool and inspires so much emotion, but the movie does nothing to actually match the emotion implied by the music.
So in that way, the soundtrack is great as music, but not so much as a score. Like the music will be grand and emotional. But then the stuff on screen does nothing to reflect that, so it ends up feeling like the music is trying to compensate rather than elevate.
This is what i like about rise of the beasts' music. While the compositions aren't as impressive as Jablonsky's per se, they're a lot more apropriate for the emotion the film intends for us to feel.

The thing about them being "canonically" called Transformers in this film and the one before this that makes it infinitely stupider is that they have for THE LONGEST TIME been known in other media and in the fandom as "Cybertronians". It's literally a devolution of already established lore.

I'm a hard-core Transformers fan. Been collecting the figures and following the media since I was 10 back in 2004.
That said, I despise these films. It's been a delight rewatching these films and mocking them with you
You despise all of them ? because for me I grew up with the movies I enjoyed 1-4 but 5 not so much but after rewatching the films recently I only like 1 and 3 I think the films could have went in a better direction if they just got new writers and a director to work on the films after 3

@@giovonniiclayton 1 is the one I'm closest to liking, and parts of 3 and 4 are entertaining. The film series overall is embarrassing for me to look back on. The racist/crass humor hasn't aged well and the action (while spectacular) is messy and cluttered. All films in the series have bits of that.
What makes me despise the films is the stigma around them. When I meet someone irl and they learn I like Transformers, the movies always come up. When I say I'm a diehard Transformers fan, I'm saying I like multiple series about cool robots with goofy names having a political conflict with equal parts cosmic horror themes or looney tune esqe humor or genuinely touching character moments. But in general, the public just associates Transformers with low-brow humor, hard to follow action, and shoddy filmmaking. I like some of the edgy film designs and the music by Steve Jablonsky always slaps, but the rest just makes me cringe.
1 and 3 are great imo, and Rise of the beasts was so bland, it actually made me go back to rewatch TLK, and i kinda appreciated it.

I grew up watching the movies as a kid, and I will admit they do have nice action sequences, music, etc., but there’s so much against them that I just don’t really care for the Bayverse as a whole. Hell, I infinitely prefer the reboot timeline with BB and ROTB, like at least they got rid of most of what made the Bayverse intolerable

I’ve heard that the Bumblebee movie was originally supposed to be about Bumblebee fighting the Nazis in WW2 but after the Last Knight bombed Bumblebee was reworked into the fun coming of age film we got and also left room to be a jumping off point for a possible reboot, which makes sense considering how much the new movies don’t make sense as canon to the bayverse.
are they even meant to be canon to the michael bay ones at all? like even if it’s not outright confirmed or clarified they seem completely standalone and a reboot right (as someone who has a very casual awarenes of these movies)

From what I’ve gathered Bumblebee was originally suppose to be canon to the bayverse but as time went on it went in its own direction. At this point with how much Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts has deviated from the bay canon I don’t think it can be considered the same universe (unless of course they do some major retcons). I mean all the autobots look completely different and more closely resemble the original Gen 1 designs

The sheer level of how entirely fucking obliterated our planet would be is so funny that it gets brushed over. Like we have a planet attached to ours? Gravity, fucked, atmosphere likely getting pulled out into space, tides. Humanity is gone in like a decade tops.

When optimus said "what has happened to my world?" He was referring to why the planet has vegetation, separated into pieces connected with cables, and the fact that it's significantly smaller than it was in dark of the moon. Cybertron never looked like that in the previous movies. So, Optimus actually asked a valid question
That is because, when the Space Bridge was destroyed in Dark of the Moon. Half of Cybertron was able to survived the black hole, that sucked half of the Planet. Quintessa destroyed like half of any Planet that’s close to Cybertron. Some of them were organic, that mix with what’s left of Cybertron.
