Doesn't selective etching means etching only enamel?In the video it is mentioned that in selective etching,after etching enamel ..the dentin is etched for not more than 20 sec...pls clarify
In my understanding , omit the deeper portions of the Dentin towards pulp and etch the remaining part of the cavity for selective etching . And any portion be , not more than 20 seconds . I don’t know why doctor mentioned 40 seconds which is way too lot as we are using self etch bonding agents.
I like to add etch on enamel first for 10 seconds and then add etch on dentin letting that sit for 10 seconds. So enamel gets etched for 20 and the dentin for 10. Rinse

If the tooth is stable, then you can create a biobase and then give overlay over it. It'll last for years if you're bonding protocol is right

Self etch not needed in your inventory. the universal bonds will do the same job

Yes. The term is actually confusing. Enamel and dentin both have to be etched. Dentin no more than 20 sec
