I find both dangling under and and at the top to look quite scary and dangerous and I've never tried it for myself for that reason.

Under the car is far more dangerious, you could get a foot etc. caught up somewhere. I have no problem with hanging from properly designed, certified and inspected climbing gear.

Dangling under the lift car seems more fun so dangling from the shaft top might be more scary...
