  • Adam from Midwest Panel Builders gives a quick overview of the GNX 375. This new navigator from Garmin combines a WAAS GPS with an ADS-B transponder. This is a good solution to save money and panel space with the smaller form factor. With the latest G3X updates you can flight plan on the G3X and transfer to the GNX 375. This extra space is especially useful for Sling 2 aircraft panels.

      Where do you find that? I haven’t been able to find it and Garmin, when I called them, didn’t know if it.

    Can you tell me what the power / current requirement for the GNX 375 is? I can't find it in any Garmin documentation, and I'm trying to do a power budget.

    Adam, Just noticed with your Sling display panel you are unable to shoot an ILS or VOR approach? the GNX 375 will need to be a GTN 650Xi

    • @MidwestPanels
      @MidwestPanels  4 роки тому +6

      No you can't shoot an ILS or VOR approach however you can certainly shoot an LPV approach with similar minimums and which really is the future. Our home airport has either a VOR Alpha which is unavailable at night or RNAV/LPV no ILS. This is the case with many small airports that is most common for the average pilot. For those that do want ILS capability though we do order the GTN 650Xi.

      Nearly every airport has an LPV approach that’ll get you down to near ILS minimums. Having a Nav radio is obsolete and waisted space and money.

    The GNX is capable of Mode S transponder built in? Or is that controlling a remote transponder? I thought it was ADS-B in/out only.

    • @MidwestPanels
      @MidwestPanels  2 роки тому

      Yes the transponder is internal to the unit it’s equivalent to GTX 45/345 series transponder.

    I know the GNX 375 doesn’t have a built-in com radio, but can it control a remote com radio? I’m wondering, what if my G3X fails, can I use this unit to control the remote com radio?

    • @MidwestPanels
      @MidwestPanels  4 роки тому +2

      No, it does not, in the event the G3X were to fail, the radio would revert to 121.5.

    Can I upload a flight plan from the Garmin Pilot app to this box via flight stream ?

    • @MidwestPanels
      @MidwestPanels  3 роки тому

      I flight stream needed, you can connect to the GNX through Bluetooth and transfer. No G3X required.

    Is it approved for helicopters like the Scweizer 300? Can it mirror the screen to an iPad ?

    • @MidwestPanels
      @MidwestPanels  4 роки тому +1

      I don't think the STC has included helicopters. No it cant be mirrored to an iPad. Mirroring is an Avidyne feature but we have not found it useful. You can connect the iPad through Foreflight though to transfer flight plans and also take advantage of the AHRS built in.

    Is the GNX 375 unable to do RNAV due to the limits of that GPS unit or the rest of the panel used for the video?

    • @MidwestPanels

      The GNX 375 can do all the published RNAV approaches.this particular setup is indoors on a bench so there is not an antenna hooked up.
