    @6:49 you set the Engine Page Layout to Separate and state that the compressed MAN IN and RPM opens up another data block displaying AMPS, however, AMPS was already displayed in the initial layout. Does this "Separate" functionality actually open up another data block for EIS or just adjust spacing as it appears to in this video? It doesn't appear that any additional data is actually displayed. Thanks for the videos, very informative!

      We put some things out of order in this video - it does indeed open up room for a data block, however because we had already selected some items to be "Text Only" in our setup (another 9.31 feature), we had already crammed more items in.

    One more question: This video shows doing an approach using the G1000 with AP and it says you disconnect the AP at the DA (and many comments say the same thing). Is that not true with my GTN/GFC setup? I have an instrument checkride (in my Sling 4!) in a week and I don't want to do the wrong thing... ua-cam.com/video/RFzsoRR6Iug/v-deo.html

      @MidwestPanels День тому

      In the G3X/GFC 500 environment, as long as you have a minimum airspeed set you should not have to disconnect the AP. Give it a try to see if it works in your setup before the check ride.

    Great video guys! One question: If the TOGA button pitches up for climb, why is it also necessary to hit the IAS button?

    • @MidwestPanels
      @MidwestPanels 4 дні тому

      The go around commands a climb in degrees that is programmable in configuration (we usually set 7 degrees). Though this could work, the airspeed will vary with conditions and alitutde so for a more predictible climb we recommend switching to Indicated Airspeed.

      @@MidwestPanels thanks for the response. I understand only one database at a time for the G3X, but I don’t see a way to put the new database on a second SD card in order to have it ready to go in the airplane when the old database expires. Garmin won’t let me install the new database until it becomes current. That seems like a HUGE flaw. And thanks for your videos. They were a huge help in learning how to fly behind my G3X/750Xi/GFC500. ******Edit******* I was finally able to update the G3X to the new cycle one day before the current database expired. In another forum, some folks stated there was a recent problem with the Garmin server, so perhaps in the future I’ll be able to update to the new cycle even earlier than one day prior.

    I’ve been using both the older GTN 650 & GTN 750. Yes the GTN 750 is nice because if you don’t have a G3 X it gives you some extra real estate for your map. When I use the GTN 650 I use it on the default NAV page, where as I don’t need a map, I use that on my iPad following along with ForeFlight. This is true with some of the aircraft still have 90% steam gauges.

    I’ve been to FL250 with my 915 on 91 non oxy fuel with no issues and indicating 53 psi on only the main pump. Granted it’s a HW with a belly tank which feeds the 915. Not sure what psi would be considered low enough to worry about issues?

    • @MidwestPanels
      @MidwestPanels Місяць тому

      A high wing with a header tank will have less of an issue with this for sure since you have gravity acting on the system. The pressure before the main pump is what most will never see since nobody monitors this and there will never be an issue after the pump if it is being supplied with a good amount of non vaporized fuel. Not every flight will produce a problem since the proper conditions may not always be there but we have seen several situations where the engines have either run very poorly or stop all together.

    • @MidwestPanels

      53 PSI seems a bit high by the way, you might want to look into that.

The kit for this mounting option wasn’t available when mine was built. Also, I have a Kavlico sensor, which I don’t believe compensates for MAP like the Rotax sensor. They say consistency is the most important thing and since my pressure never fluctuates that that’s my normal and not to worry🤷🏻‍♂️ Anyways I appreciate what you guys do for this category and the Rotax community and for pointing out my fuel pressure so I could educate myself better.

    My RV-10 has a G3X PFD & MFD as well as a G5. Being IFR my aircraft is equiped with a 20amp B&C backup alternator & 6ah TCW Ibbs. At present with my Master switch off & the avionics running on the 6ah battery my VPX-Pro is off line. It leaves me with only the PFD running. No coms, no transponder, no AP, no trim or flap indication…. Is it feasible/ reasonable to have the VPX also able to be powered off the TCW? I could then continue to use it for controlled load shedding. Maybe have a panel circuit breaker for the VPX so that it could be pulled as a last resort. However I would still have the G5 as a last last resort!

  • @akschu1
    @akschu1 4 місяці тому

    Hmmm, seems like the pump failing would require you to switch to the other tank and service as soon as possible as the stock system is probably a lot more prone to vapor lock with the extra pump, filter, and elevation you need to draw the fuel through.... I suspect the controller figures this out and tells you given the sensor.

    • @MidwestPanels

      If what you are talking is that the boost pump failing would cause it to be more prone to vapor lock due to restriction, the answer is no more than it not being there at all. The Gad 27 is a different box and has great function. Being a Kitfox you may or may not want to use it since you are manual flaps and usually trim is one switch in the center. The GAD 27 does give extra discrete inputs if you like to have different alerts and it also has useful lighting busses for dimming equipment or cockpit lighting.

      @@MidwestPanels Thanks for the explanation. I will see what my limitations or lack there of will be with my current AVI layout. I’ll keep this gem in the back pocket for expansion later on if needed. Have a great day, Matt

    Do you have to have a radar alt for the AGL mode to show?

      Garmin has the GHA 15 which is a height advisor. We have a video on that too.

    I love my IFD 440 couldnt understand why I would spend 3k-4k to get a 650 when replacing my old 430.
