Thanks for the knowledge and video. I just installed the GNX 375 and GFC 500 in my Comanche. I’ve only had it back from the shop for a week, so I still need some time to familiarize myself with it and use it to full capabilities. I feel like the visual approaches are going to be super helpful on my VFR cross country flights. I also have a panel mounted Aera 760 hardwired to the 375. I have to see how they interact together but so far really like the 375 as a GPS and transponder solution. 👍
thanks. Yes the visual approaches are very helpful. Just did one tonight into a rural airport at night. Glad the vid was helpful. Good luck with the new equipment.
Your not to far from me I got my pilot license in Valpo and I leave my airplane in Griffith I am really struggling with learning my 375 garmin thank you for the video
glad it was helpful. I am learning a new plane with a 750 in it. Learning the 375 helped. Also download the garmin training app. Helps with getting familiar. I did so with the 375 and now the 750. best wishes. Scott
I really like it. Got lucky on the timing (or garmin was smart). Spent a bit more than planned (over a 430 plus stratus) but this will last me a long time.
@@BlessedtoFly Yeah I bet. I'm bouncing between the idea of that or a used 530W and GTX335 combo. I don't have any NAV radios in the airplane currently so I'm starting to lean towards the 530W. I wish I could just afford the GTN 750 with remote Transponder so I didn't have to worry about it lol.
Thx. Good luck with your evaluation and decision. About 18 months into my ownership and i really like it. Good value for the money. Love V tails. I ride in my friend’s S model quite a bit. Awesome plane.
At 8:30 you talk about using your iPad via Bluetooth to load a flightplan. One important question I have, does this flightplan transfer capability work with ForeFlight or just Garmin Pilot? I really want to put one of these in my Cherokee. I fly IFR too but I don't have any GPS capability yet... tight budget. Everyone keeps telling me to install a used Garmin 430W/530W, but I would much rather have something more modern that will hopefully be supported for a long time.
Yes, works with ForeFlight and Garmin. I really like it. I had the same dilemma. Used 430s were $4-5k when I wanted one. Wanted a used 430w but purchase and install cost were really high so I bit the bullet and went for the 375. I had to do adsb at the time. I had to buy a compatible CDI too (MD200). Long term support was part of my decision too. Suggest talking to your avionics shop and watching for any deals. I shopped several avionics shops too and that saved quite a bit. ProAv at KPHD did mine.
@@BlessedtoFly Thanks for the response. It gave me the confidence to move forward with the upgrade. I pulled the trigger yesterday and should hopefully have the GNC 355 (The NAV/COM version of the GNX 375) installed in my Cherokee by the end of the week. My airplane already has a Garmin transponder and I like flying with my ForeFlight Sentry for ADSB-in situational awareness. Both original NAV/COM radios in my airplane are at least 40 years old, so I'm really excited about having a modern Garmin COM radio as well as WAAS GPS capability all in one unit. I'm also having my 40 year old King KA 134 audio panel replaced with a Garmin GMA 340 audio panel. Did you install a missed approach switch? I'm thinking about having one installed so I'm not having to work a touch screen if I ever find myself having to go missed at minimums in turbulence (not something I would ever plan on doing, but we all know how quickly weather can change). Great videos. Keep them coming.
I think you will like everything about it but paying the bill. It is soooo nice to have modern equipment in our 50-60 year old planes. This will keep them modern probably for the rest of our ownership. I did not get a missed approach switch (didn't know there was one) but hasn't been a concern. They did install a traffic alert acknowledgement button but I have only used it a couple times in 18 months. I am way behind on videos due to other priorities. Some future vids might be electronic ignition and maybe one on commercial pilot maneuvers. Started working on commercial but have been stalled. Thanks and safe flying.
I just use the scratch pad in ForeFlight. Could use paper and pen as well. I make columns for L and R tank then track the time and fuel remaining in each tank based on my burn rate. I think the 375 can do this too I am just hesitant to change from something that has worked well for me. I should check it out on my next uneventful flight. Like the Vcalc I might learn to like it. thanks for watching and your comment. Scott
Getting ready to install the GPS 175 Same unit without the transponder. Just wondering is there a fuel timer built into the unit anywhere? I have a garmin 496 and use the fuel timer on it all the time and will miss it if there isn't one on the 175.
Yes it has a nice fuel planning page in the Utilities tab. Garmin has a free simulator for iPad you can download to get more familiar with it on the ground. Do a search for garmin 175 simulator. I used this and it helped quite a bit as this was my first Garmin gps. Thanks for watching and your comment.
No, this gps has ads-b in and out and Bluetooths it to you iPad or device you are running ForeFlight on. You won’t need a Sentry or Stratus (unless you really want redundancy). I sold my Stratus. All I had to do was connect during preflight just like I used to do with my stratus. hope that helps.
@@JabariHunt Haven't tried without gps but should work as long as it can connect with bluetooth. Only benefit I could think of is you can upload your flight plan. Not sure how adsb weather and traffic would work without gps but it might.
75% at 6-8k ft typically get about 160 mph true. Found some notes from a flight at 11k ft. At 55% was trueing 140 mph. WOT got it to 151 mph TAS. That’s pretty close to what the POH says it will do. Thx
Yes, the plane has an Stec 60-2. It works well but won’t fly holds or sharp intercepts without help. i switch back and forth between heading and nav modes as needed. An auto pilot is huge for me on cross country flights or if I get task saturated in imc. if you skip to the end of that vid I think you’ll see it. Glad you enjoyed and thanks for your comment.
Prior to doing a review of a product you may want to thoroughly read the user manual. The comment you made to Garmin was “Come on Garmin” b3cause they didn’t have the OAT on the main map page. The only thing stopping the OAT from showing up on the main map page is you. I am a fellow Comanche owner. Glad to see there are others doing some Comanche videos.
Thanks John. I expected to be able to configure the OAT to the map screen. The user manual said I could and the trainer tool could also do it. After a call to garmin I took mine back to the avionics shop. They couldn’t do it either after calling garmin. Told me it wasn’t available in the software version I had and might get it fixed in a future upgrade. So that’s good news for me if others can configure it now. thanks for watching and your comment.
Well, I still stand by my comment. Just came from the avionics shop today 8/27/21. Received the latest software update and still no OAT available to configure onto the map screen. We called Garmin tech service about it and they could not help. Said maybe in a future update.
@@BlessedtoFly I apologize for the critical comment. It was my understanding that Garmin had this working but I haven't had a customer request this option so I have no experience trying to connect an OAT probe to a GNX-375. It's so simple I can't even imagine why Garmin is struggling with this connection. Thanks for the update.

yes, no problems with it. Still consider it one of my best investments into that plane.
Is the 375 limited to only RNAV approaches?
Yes, since it does not have navcoms it cannot do ILS and localizers and only does RNAV, LPV, plus gps guided visual approaches.
