If it helps you to know, Tuomas, Marco, and Tarja are over it. Tuomas has said that he is more than passed that time in his life, but he is rather stuck with it, because there is the music behind it, which will live longer than him; but for the emotional aspect of it, he's well passed it. Marko and Tarja are friends again, just as Flor and Tarja are friends. Both even went out as far to wish each other happy birthdays. Marko has done the same for Annette as well, let alone congratulating her on passing her certification exams. Now in addition to being a musician, she's a fully registered nurse. And even when it comes to business, Tuomas and Tarja are at least cordial. From what I've heard about business issues, they are cordial on things. We've even seen the band re-release Phantom of the Opera from End of an Era on their official channel, so that says a lot about where they are. So in all honesty, the ones that need to get over all of that mess from 16 years ago, are the fans that keep bringing it up. They'll come to realize that life is too short to keep up the pettiness.
Couldn't agree more. I don't understand how so many people STILL complain, it's just embarrassing. They can listen to the old albums and Tarja's/Anette's own music, no one is forcing them to listen to new Nightwish if they don't like it.

I think Tuomas is guy who feels very deeply and because of that we have these great songs, but it comes with downside that you can't so easily let go of those feelings and thats whats going on between Tuomas and Tarja.
@@regun2434 To a degree. Everyone is over it. Floor and Tarja have always been friends. Marko has even performed with Tarja and wished her happy birthday on his and her FB page. Tuomas and Tarja are (as what I hear) at least cordial when it comes to business. The problem we have is that since a lot of his feelings came out in song format and those songs were popular, he's stuck with having to play those songs (and his feelings of hurt from back then) every time they perform. That's why they say that "music is forever". He's well beyond it, but the music will never die or let it go. It's because of this thawing and that they are becoming friends again which is why Floor will never perform Bye Bye Beautiful and Master Passion Greed will never be played live.
Floor sings the way, she wants to sing. Not how you want her to sing. She never copies Tarja or Annette and she always makes it her own. Most reactors think Marko is growling and not Floor so they camouflaged it. The Viking sings and the Goddess growls. Hail Nightwish
First thing Kai giving you a shout-out was cool. Next thing this song is just delicious and dark full of fire and darkness. Floor's growls are just powerful and prove she can do everything.
I completely understand and appreciate Wolfkain having difficulties due to his attachment to Tarja. It’s evidently interfering with appreciation of Floor and her incredible range of colors, octaves and storytelling inherent to every performance. He has openly stated that she is talented but often in an offhand or even dismissive manner. I submit that he was inadvertently pleading with himself to better handle Tarjas departure but presenting it as an appeal to everyone else. His research rich response to “Greatest Show” was extraordinary and his skills are deeply appreciated by me in most every video but I cannot feel good about being told to let it go as if we are all in an uproar in the same manner which he found himself caught up in. Recalling the end of “Dead Boys Poem” where Floors *regular* voice harmed the song because it wasn’t done in Tarja style. Floor makes songs her own in very creative ways and is gifted in that endeavor. Apologies to all Tarja fans but she is somewhat short in both range and storytelling when juxtaposed with Floor. Variety and emotion are Floors trademark and the two singers diverge on those points. I can easily enjoy both as separate performers but never judge Tarja as needing to sing in Floors style. I note differences yes, we all do. Apologies but the presentation of “you all stop this” is difficult to dismiss and accept freely without making this statement in return. Especially when the first sentence at the end is, in effect “Tarja might have difficulty with this song”. Let’s actually appreciate what’s in front of us, stunning performances by all.
I concur 👍 (great reaction on the reactor!!) Tarja might….. hahaha, operatic growling that would be the day. Sweet dreams. Tarja hasn’t the power nor the ability. Oh yes she’s great but in a different way but less versatile. Nevertheless last 6 months I really enjoyed the (very) old stuff. But live music addict as I am, the quality of the singing and music is never matched with the last 10 years. On emotional level she makes some great scores and a difference. This song is simply impossible for her, she can’t produce the needed and required violent tone (which Floor delivers perfectly) Also gave myself the assignment to listen to ‘Anette’s songs and albums. The albums and many songs are great but the lack of live footage underlines my initial feeling. She’s a mediocre singer at most and it reflects on the band playing and adjusting. As already stated we’re lucky and blessed with a new singer and new bandmembers but I miss the fantastic interaction between Marco and Floor. Nothing comes close to that level also outside NW. Can’t wait for the new material and album and hope Floor is ok and concerts end of November take place. 🙏

For example, when the band released their Decades collection in 2018, they could have sung on the Floor all the past songs for the Decades collection. Instead, they published songs sung by Tarja and Anette with an interpretation by the original performers. This is Nightwih directly to the heart. I'd love to see Nightwish on a sold out Wembley stadium. And regarding the singers, I don't say one is better than the other. They're different. Tarja is the operadiva, Anette is the poprocker, Floor is the diverse one that can do whatever Tuomas can dream up. Floor did a lot of growling in After Forever and ReVamp.
2.May 2021 at Wembley Arena, if not canceled. Will be my third time seeing them there. They never played Wembley Stadium. 90K is a bit much for them to fill.

Floor's Growls on this song are straight fire. Those last ones give me chills each and every time! What a powerful vocalist. I have a request from the Annette era though. Turn loose the Mermaids. That song fits her vocal style perfectly!
I was at this gig back in 2015. It is probably the most electric atmosphere I've EVER experienced at any concert. Absolutely brilliant. Even now...whenever i watch the live DVD of the show...it brings all those feelings and emotions i felt that night rushing back

I so understand Wolfkain’s opinion about the singers of Nightwish. For me it is the same with Deep Purple. I grew up with the music of Deep Purple (amongst others) in the Mark II ‘configuration’ with Ian, Ian, Ritchie, Jon and Roger. And I was so used to that sound that is was hard to listen to another vocalist or another guitarist, but every change brought new perspectives and new sounds. In fact it enriches the music.......... It is the same with Tarja, Annette and Floor. I first listened to Nightwish around 2008, looking for similar music as Within Temptation. And that was Nightwish with Annette. I loved the albums she sang on. Started listening to older albums with Tarja. At first I wasn’t that much into the operatic style, I listened for a few songs at the time but I had to stop and listen to something else before my head exploded. In time I started to appreciate Tarja more. I ‘broke’ with Nightwish after hearing some bad live versions of the Annette period. It’s only a few years ago I rediscovered Nightwish with Floor as the vocalist, and I was hooked. Now I listen to all three and everyone of them has their merits.
Unless the independence day would be so close, I think using "Finlandia" as the background music would have been better option. The national anthem called "Maamme" (literally "Our country") is a more simple song.

I saw Nightwish the first time when it was a local band nobody knew. I'm that old. 😂 I've seen all the different eras, I feel like I've grown alongside them. And totally love the current situation. No hate, just love.
Very old? Or oldish like me? I'm 58 and discovered them last year through De Beste zangers and can't stop listening to them. Though the operatic voice of Tarja i struggle sometimes with ( two songs is fine three songs is to much opera for me).

I love all the singers of Nightwish, all for very different reasons! Tarja's voice carries so much emotion. Anette was so clear and concise! Floor's range and versatility?! And Marco is one of my favourite male vocalists of all time! They're ALL wonderful, and they all really brought something different and amazing to the band.
I think this is the only Nightwish song where Floor growls - correct me if I'm wrong. It just shows her incredible vocal range and capabilities. Thanks so much for this great reaction!

Loved the reaction as always, but I wanted to give you a special shout-out for using--and linking--the instrumental-only version of this song. Many years ago I bought the version of Dark Passion Play that had the extra instrumental versions of those songs and treasured it, but it never occurred to me that the same thing would be available for this album. Went to Amazon and bought it instantly.
Fully agree to your statements in your introduction!! Re-recording older Nightwish songs with Floor singing would be like rewriting history, both Tuomas and Floor stated in interviews.

As a long time Nightwish fan (since 1999), I am in love with every single one of the singers. I watched live all three of them many many times. They all have their unique and beautiful style. There’s absolutely no need to be toxic about this. Just get over it and move on FFS.

Love what you say about the previous vocalists. Although I am a huge Floor fan, I respect Tarja and Anette. They all contributed to what Nightwish is today.

@HalfLifeSistah She's like me. When the music is that good. The emotion becomes too much. Crying releases the intensity of that feeling. But many times, it causes a slight emotional breakdown which causes a flood of tears. It's a heavily emotional reaction to music. We are very rare because music affects us on such a different level that it does others.

In fact it's very actual. And note that it was written way before the Am. elections. I borrowed this: The original lyrics seem to talk about people using the internet to their narcissistic advantage. It seems implied anyway, especially with the correct line, "Of screen name verbal vanity", and the mention of Narcissus and so on.
Another example of a legitimately angry Nightwish song would most definitely be Master Passion Greed off of the Dark Passion Play album. That song is pretty much six minutes of pure spite. This is a great second song of the show after "Shudder Before The Beautiful" - just to get the audience started. The only thing a would love more on this is if they had mixed her vocals a bit higher than Marko's, so we could hear her growl better. It's an amazing song!
I do recall Floor being asked on a Instagram ama what she thought of reaction channels and she wasn't terribly bothered about them. She did specifically say she was particularly unimpressed with reactors who claim to be voice coaches but they don't explain what she is doing when she is singing. Plus Floors had some really bad experiences with social media in the past so I think she stays away.

Once again, a great reaction (as expected). I wholeheartedly agree with Wolf's rant regarding the vocalists. I've been a NW fan since 1998, back in the day I didn't think Anette would fit, but I liked her when Imaginaerum came out and Floor is, well Floor (been a fan of her since 07 -ish). However, this silly arguing over A is better than B is better than C is entirely moot. Because Nightwish IS Nightwish. TomH🇫🇮 P.S. The Finnish national anthem was a nice touch.
I always thought it's a precursor to Noise lyricwise. It seems to criticize online harassing and badmouthing, with the chorus saying "Whatever you keyboard warriors do, it doesn't affect me, and if you think you're troubling me, well Yours Is An Empty Hope". Marko wrote this song, or at least the lyrics, and I think it's significant what happens in the chorus: you know the traditional gothic metal cliché of the beauty and beast vocals, with a male grunter and an ethereal clean female voice as a contrast? This song turns that cliché on its head: Floor is the beast, Marko sings the cleans. I believe that that was fully intentional, and may be a sort of feminist statement on Marko's part. Now if I combine my two conjectures, I might be tempted to think that this song may be a FU answer to some online shit that Floor got when she joined-either of a "you're not Tarja" or of a creepy/sexist nature. But of course I could be, and probably am, wrong.

I don't know if you reacted to Shudder Before the Beautiful, opening song of the Endless Forms Most Beautiful album and that Wembley concert? If you haven't you must, it's nuclear energy! :) When it comes to Nightwish I'm an OG fan since Oceanborn album and I like every era of Nightwish, but still I wish they would redo those 2 Anette albums with Floor's vocals, they would sell like crazy :) She has time, instead of making those covers she should get into the studio and sing those 2 albums :) And when it comes to David Gilmour driven Pink Floyd I love it so much, Momentary Lapse of Reason & Division Bell are amazing albums with so many fantastic solos.
I was wondering if you guys know/like Therion, and if not, would you be interested in checking them out. They are the pioneers of symphonic metal and have released a myriad of unique, iconic songs, their live performances always include extraordinary musicians (the line-up keeps changing over the years, though). I really think you might enjoy their music. One of their classics should be a good introduction, like "Son Of The Sun" (ua-cam.com/video/mvib_KtR9Iw/v-deo.html) or "An Arrow From The Sun" (ua-cam.com/video/YpLdVgCl834/v-deo.html). In these two classics, the symphonic metal queen Lori Lewis takes the lead. The second song is more vocally varied though, so it might be more interesting.
The High Hopes cover is what made me realize that Marko is a lead singer in his own right. And you're right, it's wrong to try tp compare Tarja, Anette and Floor. Yes, I prefer Floor, but the other ladies had their day in NW, and now have their own solo path to follow. Empty Hope is a lot of fun!! People are so SHOCKED when they hear Floor GROWL! And it's a BANGER!! Hey, who's that carrying around EV 1? Is that Emppu, EV 1's driver? This one, and Romanticide, are angry songs, about being wronged and fighting back. Floor can kick butt and take names!

If it helps you to know, Tuomas, Marco, and Tarja are over it. Tuomas has said that he is more than passed that time in his life, but he is rather stuck with it, because there is the music behind it, which will live longer than him; but for the emotional aspect of it, he's well passed it. Marko and Tarja are friends again, just as Flor and Tarja are friends. Both even went out as far to wish each other happy birthdays. Marko has done the same for Annette as well, let alone congratulating her on passing her certification exams. Now in addition to being a musician, she's a fully registered nurse.
And even when it comes to business, Tuomas and Tarja are at least cordial. From what I've heard about business issues, they are cordial on things. We've even seen the band re-release Phantom of the Opera from End of an Era on their official channel, so that says a lot about where they are.
So in all honesty, the ones that need to get over all of that mess from 16 years ago, are the fans that keep bringing it up. They'll come to realize that life is too short to keep up the pettiness.

Couldn't agree more. I don't understand how so many people STILL complain, it's just embarrassing. They can listen to the old albums and Tarja's/Anette's own music, no one is forcing them to listen to new Nightwish if they don't like it.

I think Tuomas is guy who feels very deeply and because of that we have these great songs, but it comes with downside that you can't so easily let go of those feelings and thats whats going on between Tuomas and Tarja.
@@regun2434 To a degree. Everyone is over it. Floor and Tarja have always been friends. Marko has even performed with Tarja and wished her happy birthday on his and her FB page. Tuomas and Tarja are (as what I hear) at least cordial when it comes to business. The problem we have is that since a lot of his feelings came out in song format and those songs were popular, he's stuck with having to play those songs (and his feelings of hurt from back then) every time they perform. That's why they say that "music is forever". He's well beyond it, but the music will never die or let it go.
It's because of this thawing and that they are becoming friends again which is why Floor will never perform Bye Bye Beautiful and Master Passion Greed will never be played live.
There is no Team Tarja or Team Floor. There is one: Team Nightwish

I completely understand and appreciate Wolfkain having difficulties due to his attachment to Tarja.
It’s evidently interfering with appreciation of Floor and her incredible range of colors, octaves and storytelling inherent to every performance.
He has openly stated that she is talented but often in an offhand or even dismissive manner.
I submit that he was inadvertently pleading with himself to better handle Tarjas departure but presenting it as an appeal to everyone else.
His research rich response to “Greatest Show” was extraordinary and his skills are deeply appreciated by me in most every video but I cannot feel good about being told to let it go as if we are all in an uproar in the same manner which he found himself caught up in.
Recalling the end of “Dead Boys Poem” where Floors *regular* voice harmed the song because it wasn’t done in Tarja style.
Floor makes songs her own in very creative ways and is gifted in that endeavor.
Apologies to all Tarja fans but she is somewhat short in both range and storytelling when juxtaposed with Floor.
Variety and emotion are Floors trademark and the two singers diverge on those points.
I can easily enjoy both as separate performers but never judge Tarja as needing to sing in Floors style.

I concur 👍 (great reaction on the reactor!!) Tarja might….. hahaha, operatic growling that would be the day. Sweet dreams. Tarja hasn’t the power nor the ability. Oh yes she’s great but in a different way but less versatile. Nevertheless last 6 months I really enjoyed the (very) old stuff. But live music addict as I am, the quality of the singing and music is never matched with the last 10 years. On emotional level she makes some great scores and a difference. This song is simply impossible for her, she can’t produce the needed and required violent tone (which Floor delivers perfectly) Also gave myself the assignment to listen to ‘Anette’s songs and albums. The albums and many songs are great but the lack of live footage underlines my initial feeling. She’s a mediocre singer at most and it reflects on the band playing and adjusting. As already stated we’re lucky and blessed with a new singer and new bandmembers but I miss the fantastic interaction between Marco and Floor. Nothing comes close to that level also outside NW. Can’t wait for the new material and album and hope Floor is ok and concerts end of November take place. 🙏

Yes Nightwish cares about its past. For example, when the band released their Decades collection in 2018, they could have sung on the Floor all the past songs for the Decades collection. Instead, they published songs sung by Tarja and Anette with an interpretation by the original performers. This is Nightwih directly to the heart. And regarding the singers, I don't say one is better than the other. They're different. Tarja is the operadiva, Anette is the poprocker, Floor is the diverse one that can do whatever Tuomas can dream up. Floor did a lot of growling in After Forever and ReVamp.
If it ever happens it's probably going to take 15-20 years still. The Wembley stadium concert.

I was at this gig back in 2015. It is probably the most electric atmosphere I've EVER experienced at any concert. Absolutely brilliant. Even now...whenever i watch the live DVD of the show...it brings all those feelings and emotions i felt that night rushing back

The evolution of their sound across all three singers, but yet still retaining that signature flavor is one of the things I like about them.
Floor and growling. A good combination. Visit Floor in her old band Revamp and listen to Disdain and The Trial of Monsters. Floor on the heavy tour. I like it.
I so understand Wolfkain’s opinion about the singers of Nightwish. For me it is the same with Deep Purple. I grew up with the music of Deep Purple (amongst others) in the Mark II ‘configuration’ with Ian, Ian, Ritchie, Jon and Roger. And I was so used to that sound that is was hard to listen to another vocalist or another guitarist, but every change brought new perspectives and new sounds. In fact it enriches the music.......... It is the same with Tarja, Annette and Floor. I first listened to Nightwish around 2008, looking for similar music as Within Temptation. And that was Nightwish with Annette. I loved the albums she sang on. Started listening to older albums with Tarja. At first I wasn’t that much into the operatic style, I listened for a few songs at the time but I had to stop and listen to something else before my head exploded. In time I started to appreciate Tarja more. I ‘broke’ with Nightwish after hearing some bad live versions of the Annette period. It’s only a few years ago I rediscovered Nightwish with Floor as the vocalist, and I was hooked. Now I listen to all three and everyone of them has their merits.

I love all the singers of Nightwish, all for very different reasons! Tarja's voice carries so much emotion. Anette was so clear and concise! Floor's range and versatility?! And Marco is one of my favourite male vocalists of all time! They're ALL wonderful, and they all really brought something different and amazing to the band.

Loved the reaction as always, but I wanted to give you a special shout-out for using--and linking--the instrumental-only version of this song. Many years ago I bought the version of Dark Passion Play that had the extra instrumental versions of those songs and treasured it, but it never occurred to me that the same thing would be available for this album. Went to Amazon and bought it instantly.

In fact it's very actual. And note that it was written way before the Am. elections. I borrowed this: The original lyrics seem to talk about people using the internet to their narcissistic advantage. It seems implied anyway, especially with the correct line, "Of screen name verbal vanity", and the mention of Narcissus and so on.
Another example of a legitimately angry Nightwish song would most definitely be Master Passion Greed off of the Dark Passion Play album. That song is pretty much six minutes of pure spite.

This is a great second song of the show after "Shudder Before The Beautiful" - just to get the audience started. The only thing a would love more on this is if they had mixed her vocals a bit higher than Marko's, so we could hear her growl better. It's an amazing song!

I do recall Floor being asked on a Instagram ama what she thought of reaction channels and she wasn't terribly bothered about them. She did specifically say she was particularly unimpressed with reactors who claim to be voice coaches but they don't explain what she is doing when she is singing. Plus Floors had some really bad experiences with social media in the past so I think she stays away.

I've been a NW fan since 1998, back in the day I didn't think Anette would fit, but I liked her when Imaginaerum came out and Floor is, well Floor (been a fan of her since 07 -ish). I always thought it's a precursor to Noise lyricwise. It seems to criticize online harassing and badmouthing, with the chorus saying "Whatever you keyboard warriors do, it doesn't affect me, and if you think you're troubling me, well Yours Is An Empty Hope".
Marko wrote this song, or at least the lyrics, and I think it's significant what happens in the chorus: you know the traditional gothic metal cliché of the beauty and beast vocals, with a male grunter and an ethereal clean female voice as a contrast? This song turns that cliché on its head: Floor is the beast, Marko sings the cleans. I believe that that was fully intentional, and may be a sort of feminist statement on Marko's part.
Now if I combine my two conjectures, I might be tempted to think that this song may be a FU answer to some online shit that Floor got when she joined-either of a "you're not Tarja" or of a creepy/sexist nature. But of course I could be, and probably am, wrong.

When it comes to Nightwish I'm an OG fan since Oceanborn album and I like every era of Nightwish, but still I wish they would redo those 2 Anette albums with Floor's vocals, they would sell like crazy :) She has time, instead of making those covers she should get into the studio and sing those 2 albums :)
And when it comes to David Gilmour driven Pink Floyd I love it so much, Momentary Lapse of Reason & Division Bell are amazing albums with so many fantastic solos.
I was wondering if you guys know/like Therion, and if not, would you be interested in checking them out. They are the pioneers of symphonic metal and have released a myriad of unique, iconic songs, their live performances always include extraordinary musicians (the line-up keeps changing over the years, though). I really think you might enjoy their music. One of their classics should be a good introduction, like "Son Of The Sun" (ua-cam.com/video/mvib_KtR9Iw/v-deo.html) or "An Arrow From The Sun" (ua-cam.com/video/YpLdVgCl834/v-deo.html). In these two classics, the symphonic metal queen Lori Lewis takes the lead. The second song is more vocally varied though, so it might be more interesting.

The High Hopes cover is what made me realize that Marko is a lead singer in his own right. And you're right, it's wrong to try tp compare Tarja, Anette and Floor. Yes, I prefer Floor, but the other ladies had their day in NW, and now have their own solo path to follow.

Everyone already said everything the song. Floor growls, I agree that it's a FU song, directed at critics, media, angry fans, it's one of the heaviest, although "Master Passion Greed" (Marko on vocals) goes waaaayyyyy heavier, etc.
