It amazes me how many of the jobs you do where you find previous poor repairs! It's probably a silly thing to say but it would be nice to see how you 'bag up the vehicle' on one video as always looks so neat! Great job.
What a top bloke, you always go the extra mile to do a good job of undoing someone else crap job fella, silver is not very forgivable and thats how you separate the men from the boys, Cheers mate and take care.
also have u ever tried doing very small areas, like inside door jambs with an air brush? I tried it yesterday, and it works pretty good.. I had to thin the mettalic basecoat abt 30 percent, and the clear 20 percent and boost the air pressure to the airbrush..occassionally the gun would clog, and I clean it out with brake clean.. the upside is your not spraying alot of overspray into the car.. I just layed a towel on the seats.. for blending in the edges, I use urethane reducer.. works better than the high priced rattle can blender.
I used an ancient paasche and it did pretty good.. I will revisit my airbrush box, as I think there are different sized needles that may give me a slightly bigger or smaller spray circle.. I would like to refine my skills, to a point where I could repair a small ding with just a 4 or five inch circle.. @@grantssmartrepairs
Hi mate I'm a panel beater myself in South Wales.. been in the game a long time and I'd just like to ask... Was it expensive to start this business up i.e van etc.... And do you carry the paint mixing scheme on the van to mix all the colours.. I really want to start up on my own.. any advice would be appreciated p.s have or do you get any complaints regarding overspray
Fantastic job there Grant I don't think the previous repair did you any favours regarding the re-repair but the main thing is you have the skill to sort these problems out 👏👏👍 I keep meaning to ask you what you use to get any crap (IE bugs dirt and hairs or fibres) out of the clear while it's still wet, I've tried some fine tweezers but end up chasing it around then it ends up looking like a snail trail in my clear 😭🤦♂️🤣 thanks Grant 🤗👍
Like I said before grant my daughter had the damage on her polo she bought off her grandad same crease right on the pointed tip were it meet some the quarter chipsaway did it and you can still see it!
Another cracking job Grant that hair dryer is still doing you proud lol. Are you still going to be doing some more paint on the golf cab, stay safe mate and battle on respect.
Turned out fine in the end that's the main thing but you could do without it,are you finding it difficult to stop at a certain point on jobs because as you say you can end up doing the bumper or a whole panel etc bit I suppose you can only do what your paid but great job👍
Hi, I really enjoy your videos! But i have a question, how do have power for all your tools? Do you use clients electricity or do you have a power inverter in your van or other solution? I'm interested in hearing how you handle this!
what is the smallest area you would try to repair and blend.. I have a small door ding right in the center of my drivers door, and trying not to paint the whole door..
I have it to a 10x10 area, just have to sand the edges... wish me luck.. no paint shops around me will spot blend, they all want to do panels,so this tells me its not an easy skill, but Im going to master it.,. bought a chrysler 300c, and the right front fender had a big dent in it, I pulled most of it out, then bondo and primed, and painted it,, there was the door ding, also the rear bumper cover is gouged in several places I have to fix,.. the shop wanted 2000.00 so far, Iv have less than 100 bucks into it.. I bought a pint of factory color match paint on ebay, and a quart of clear coat and a can of high build primer.. plus sand paper... paint used to be unavailable in smaller quantities than gallons for auto paint.. so being able to buy small quantities now, I can do my own work ALOT cheaper.. the sucky part is im learning on a silvery blue mettalic, that has ALOT of mettalics in it.,.,, its called chrysler steel blue mettalic.. do you know of a quality repair that can be done to the plastic bumper covers.. mine has a gouge all the way thru it, that created a small flap.. I have had some success melting plastics together on atvs, but never tried car plastics.. thanks . @@grantssmartrepairs
tried yesterday., and it stood out like a turdd in a punch bowl..but when I blended the front fender, previously its 100 percent better. when I really looked closely, the color of the paint I ordered is quite a bit darker than the factory paint on the car.. I ordered a pint of paint from a different company and will try again,, the car is an 06, but was garage kept and low miles, so I dont think the paint is faded. when I get the new paint, im going to do a spray out of the old and new paint and see what the difference is. the paint, chrysler PA4 has ALOT of flop and ALOT of mettalics . and the color difference is more noticable in low light conditions.. I considered painting the whole top part of the door, as it is seperated by a molding, but the color difference is quite profound, and it wouldnt perfectly match.
theres always something to ruin the day,at least you spotted it rather than moving on and making it worse (been there) 3 times last week so just took 4 days off😀
