The odds are much too generous towards Juan Estrada. He neither has the power nor endurance to hold a young lion like Bam Rodriguez off. I've seen plenty of "changing of the guard" fights--Larry Holmes-Mike Tyson, Julio Cesar Chavez-Oscar De La Hoya, and Shane Mosley-Canelo Alvarez are just a few examples, and it always ends up poorly for the older fighter. This will be no exception. Bam is hitting his prime, and Estrada is at the end and hasn't been busy enough. Look for a highlight reel stoppage by Rodriguez. I'm guessing in the 8th or 9th round.
All good points. Yeah, the more I think about this, the more I can envision Estrada have a relatively flat performance. It might be clear within the first couple rounds that this isn't Estrada's night. But there's also a possibility that Estrada starts flat... and then begins to rally back in the 2nd half. That could be exciting.
Bam, got this.
I think so too. Would you have still taken Bam if this was Estrada from 2-3 years ago?
@@WhatsGoodWoog idk? But I would definitely go for bam.
real excited for this fight
I am too. I'm hoping Estrada doesn't come out with a flat performance.
I can't wait to see pitbull Cruz, fight again.
He’s fighting Rayo in August on Crawford’s undercard.
@@Loveseatlegendit's going to be good.
Yeah, he's fighting August 3rd vs Valenzuela, who's coming off of that vicious KO win over Colbert in their rematch.
As an Estrada fan, I'm hoping he still has enough in the tank to pull off this upset. The long layoff for Estrada isn't great but I'm not sure Bam has ever faced a fighter like Estrada. Not only the experience but the movement and combination punching Estrada brings. Can't wait to see it.
I agree that Bam hasn't fought anyone like Estrada. He's got more power than Sunny and better feet/movement/boxing than Cuadras and Rungvisai (although Rungvisai has a win over Estrada and is a southpaw, like Bam). I just wouldn't be surprised if Estrada looks too flat to hang with Bam.
@@WhatsGoodWoog You were right on this one. Man it was hard to see Estrada take punishment like that and finished that way but it was always a very real possibility. Estrada didn't give up and went down on his shield, which is all you can ask for when you're being outmatched like that. Estrada clearly does not have the movement and fluidity he once had, he kinda looked stiff in there at times.
I can't hate Bam, he did what he was supposed to do, win and be entertaining. I also liked what he said in the post interview. The guys who are claiming to be top dog in their respective divisions should be trying to become undisputed.
Woog , I'm taking bam all day
I think so too. Is it because Estrada is likely past his window? Or would you have still taken Bam if this was Estrada 2-3 years ago?
@@WhatsGoodWoog I'd have to take a look at Estrada again actually 🤔. I've seen more of bam so I admit I'm more biased towards him 🤷🏾♂️. Bam just seems to have some dog in him like Virgil Ortiz , Crawford to name a few🤷🏾♂️
Thank you so much for responding. I absolutely love your commentation and break downs of various fights. Your very well spoken 👍🏾
@@kendelcody2124thanks, I always appreciate your support and quality commentary.
@@kendelcody2124Yeah, Bam definitely has dog in him. Estrada, to me, has Juan Manuel Marquez-level fight in him. Maybe their stance and facial look just remind me of each other. But Estrada is one of those guys who gets emboldened as the pace picks up and gives and good as he gets. I dont know if that, at 34, will be enough for Bam, who’s either in or is approaching his prime. I think that Estrada might start out flat, but then can rally back and make it interesting. Or he might surprise us and start the fight aggressively (more risky because he can tire later). Or, if he doesn’t have it anymore, he gets beaten up for as long as it lasts.
Of course Naoya Inoue would be a fight everyone would like to see. But if it somehow happened in the next 12 months, Bam gets stopped inside 5.
Naoya is accustomed to considerably heavier hands than Bam's at this point, thrown by larger men, and I don't see how Bam gets any respect from the elder Inoue.
I am of the opinion you need to knock Inoue out. Ain't gonna out-pretty or out-slick him -- if you try you're not making it to the bell.
Nery caught Inoue flush and couldn't stop him. Nery is _much_ heavier-handed than Bam.
Agree, I might be getting way ahead of myself with any Monster vs Bam talk. Bam doesn't appear to be in the same galaxy, power-wise. There might also be a handspeed gap that favors Inoue. Plus, his in and out movement and explosiveness.... then Bam has to move up multiple divisions. Yeah, you're right. I don't see it. Not anytime soon.
