Thank you so much, great video. We are in Australia and have a john deere e110, with the cost of everything going up by the day, and its our mowing/bushfire season now, this is great to know how to more cheaply keep our mower going,
great video. could you please tell me where you got the bearings rebuild kit and how much you paid for it? in your opinion would a bad spindle bearing cause the mower to bog down even on the highest deck setting? And when it bogs down I can turn off the PTO switch and it comes right back up to speed. clutch seems to be fine you can hear and feel the magnet inguage when the PTO switch h is turned on. Thanks for your time
I purchased all the bearings and seals from a Deere dealer. I don't recall how much, but bearings are around $25 each, seals I think $8 each. It adds up fast. A bad spindle could be causing your issue, but it could also be a combination of worn components, not just a single source.
By the time my blades wobble and the bearing shot, the sloppiness just eats away at the housing which makes it unusable on my X300. They are sealed bearings and in order to get grease forced inside, you need 80 hand pumps on the grease gun. Yes 80, and not 8. A UA-cam video showed a guy proving this by using a different color grease which he verified by removing the bearing plastic seal. So this should eliminate my spindle bearing wear cause I’m on my 2nd pair of spindles.😂 I have the torque specs on the spindles on my channel.
I hope the spindles on my 455 and my 245 are that easy....I have a X710 also but he has reality low hours....The 455 and 245 are rescue mowers that that were abandoned after they started having some problems...
Very helpful, and a great job explaining the steps!

Rookie question….how do I know that my spindles are shot and need to be rebuilt or replaced? Great video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Great job sir 👍

Part number could help…nice job on rebuilding yours.
Can you post parts list for rebuilding spindles?
MTD is pretty much std but not all of them
Best to take apart and order them
I noticed that the bottom bushing had the grooves outward, but you said that the grooves go towards the inside on the top bushing. Why is that?
Are they both the same bearing

commerical 48" and 54 walk behind calls for 120 ft pounds, looks very similar to yours,,,pulley is different
All I do is rebuild them for customers
Plus I fix them to take grease
Last for ever if greased regular
Well… learned how to put grease in my hand 🤔
