Looks like a racer and not so much a world cruiser, the helms are pretty exposed , though I’m sure this could be taken care of. She’s a beauty, thanks for the tour Toby.
Been waiting for this one! Great video! Thanks! Cool boat, though feels more like a day boat than a passage maker. I guess that's what the owner wants. Feels to me like a missed opportunity.
Half of the comments are just plain ridiculous. Y yachts are designed and used as high performance cruisers. To then complain that it doesn't look like something it's not designed to be just seems like the most fatuous of pursuits.
This style is becoming a little generic, like the iPhone and Apple products. This minimalistic look I mean how far can you take it? A completely flat feature less deck? I just see a big wave washing every one away. Also, the towels on the stairs not good. One last gripe about a boat I cannot afford (i doubt I could afford the tender) what if all the hand loops are forward. Ok one more, those chairs you would have to call on your iPhone the person sitting opposite for a conversation.
The last sentence shows your house very small... this clearly a party boat, with plenty of floor space for a waiter or catering peoppe to circulate between the chairs...
Great video as usual, Toby, but I think this yacht is a hard pass. They should have named it the "Widow Maker" because the flat expanses of patio that serve as the helm and the foredeck would be a no-go in anything higher than F6. It looks like they scaled up a bath toy into an 80 ft multi-million dollar monster that will scare the bejeezus out of friends and family while underway. I can't imagine looking after children or adolescents - pretty much an instant MOB. Pretty to look at for some, but dreadful in the service of being a yacht that protects her crew while underway on our northern seas.
@@hughtattersall7583 Wow that whole last specs slide is a mess isn't it?! Normally I do it in a spreadsheet and gets double checked once it goes in as a slide but something's gone wrong between then and rendering the video, sorry all!
Thanks for sharing... I'm afraid that I don't like it. I think that the quest to make a super-sleek yacht has left a deck that is devoid of anything useful to hold on to for either passengers or crew, making it dicey for working on whilst underway. I have the same comment about below decks - it is impractical, and potentially even dangerous for people who can reach the strops hanging in various places from the deck above their heads. It just isn't a very practical boat in my opinion.
Looks cool from afar but it has to be one of the worst sailing vessels i've ever seen! ZERO practicality, zero safety for the crew no rails no safelines nothing, all for aesthetics. Borderline criminal for anyone who would actually want to cruise long distance and has any logic in their brain. They call it minimalism but it's simply very very bad use of space, aesthetically it's literally "nothing" , feels like the have forgotten to put things on and in the boat. More like a concept art. "Lead designer of Apple" being involved explains a lot of things i guess. The argument could be "it's for racing". Well is it? More like how people get Ferrari's for "racing" outside the cafe. And i'm pretty sure the designer knows this very well, even if he himself would actually race.
Would like to make clear i am not (nor will ever be) in the market for sailing yachts like this. As a designer I can say this yachts makes no sense. Everyone has its own taste, but for this yacht you don’t need taste, it’s way too generic, there’s no love in it.
As a designer I'd disagree. Its purpose is not the same as Kraken's. This one is a glorious day-sailer for perfect weather, with a nice party space below for catering waiters to circulate between twenty-some guests while parked in Monaco marina on a nice summer evening... I think the design here suits its purpose perfectly; in fact if you find the design as not good it simply means you misunderstand the purpose of this yacht. Its closest competitors are the recent Grand Soleil 72, a Vismara, a smaller Southern Wind or a Wally...
What do you mean "semi raised"? Either it is or it is NOT raised. Nice boat . Good info. Can it hit a container mid pacific and live to tell about it? How protected is the rudder ? How is it up wind ? How does it handle waves ?
@@thegram9207 I have sailed across the Pacific 5 times and across the Atlantic 11 times, plus a great deal of other sailing. I have never even seen a container in the water. There are perhaps three areas of the world where I would be worried about striking a log in the water - the gulf of Panama, Indonesia/straits of Malacca and the strait of Georgia/inside passage/Salish sea in the Pacific NW. It's easy to cruise those areas without a heavy boat by avoiding night passages and keeping your speed low.

Hahaha, there are no stormy sea conditions for the owner or this yacht: - only a perfect day out on the water or a party in the evening... When its stormy, its owner will be safe and warm at their estate on land...

Have to agree with most of the comments: silly. Basically an 80' day sailor. But I'm probably saying that because I can't afford an 80' day sailor.

The displacement number at the end is wrong. 85k lbs is definitely not 8.8k kg.
