Amazing. And no expense was spared…all carbon, telescopic keel, advanced sail control systems, sumptuous finishes, plus dedicated space for 5 crew… YW should do a bonus video with owners titled ‘how I afforded my super yacht’
Beautiful indeed, though I feel like the client had a bit too much input from a functionality standpoint. Good point about lack of protection for the crew, not just in bad weather but not even any shade at the helm.
I struggle to understand the concept of a yacht like this. The same yacht at 60-90' for cruising from port to port in the Med with a family and doing the occasional club race makes sense. But to have a 111' yacht that is nonetheless entirely unsuited to doing any kind of serious crossing/passage making in any kind of security/comfort is odd. Ferrari doesn't make sports cars the size of semi trucks, though they'd certainly be beautiful.
If they ever want this yacht across an ocean they can call me! My button pushing finger may be sore by the time I reach my destination, but it will heal.
Fantastic boat. Although, if I were to own this boat I would not spend so much effort and money on keeping the crew hidden away. I would want to join in the fun of sailing her. And those golden fittings in the bathrooms! Taste is subjective, I guess.
I'am not a salior but i have one question: It is safe on storm sea with big waves? Stering wheels are exposed and distianece to do samething with sails is big. I think that itcan be dangerous. Yes?
Another great analysis and presentation what struck me was the lack of grab rails on the coach house and below decks these yachts are more like apartments on the water all the lounging areas on deck not much use crossing the Atlantic in a bit of a blow . Beginning to wonder are there no small boats being built for the person starting to sail like in the 1970s just a thought.
Like burddog said. The actual owners of these superyachts rarely ever use them except when they're at anchor or in a marina, to host important guests or show off their wealth to people. The crew is charged with making sure the boat is docked somewhere by the time the owner arrives on their private jet. And waiting on them hand and foot when they do. That's why in many superyachts the galley is in the crew quarters
Wow, spectacular! Thanks Toby. That owner’s stateroom is unbelievable. Leather handrails and cashmere carpets? Never heard of that on a boat, but yes…I need it. I want it!
If you don’t like having crew around, get a smaller boat and you don’t have to! That is what these rich owners don’t get, the joy of sailing/cruising comes from sharing it with loved ones, not from prancing around in fancy boats. That is why they need to upgrade their toys so often. If 72ft of expensive boat doesn’t satisfy you, 110ft won’t either.
Quite a simple answer actually. They are not true sailors at heart. With some practice you could sail this one single handed. Such a sweet sailing boat with a simple layout. Love the lines and layout. Deck is extraordinarily clean.
Maybe someone will be able to answer these questions. 1. When sailing for long periods, where do they sit while at the wheel? 2. Is there any protection against the elements when sailing? 3. Didn’t see any sign of a toe-rail, would that make it a little unsafe while sailing?
The answer is that for most of the journey you don't need anyone at the wheel. With self tacking jibs, electric main sheet winch, and autopilot, you can sit in the comfort of the cabin and make any course adjustments you need while underway. The only times you absolutely need someone at the helm is when you're close to a harbour, close to the coast, it close to a shipping lane.
All of these new performance superyachts look the same. Solaris, Second Wind, Swan, Baltic... Actually, all of the "smaller" bluewater cruisers look the same now too, basically like an Oyster with the wraparound black windows. I'm looking forward to a brand coming out with something new, or something old, or just something not the same as everyone else.
what percentage of the time will this boat be motored with the sails wrapped up? I'm guessing 95%+ LOL the self tacking jib rubs the sheets against the deck. this is goofy
OMG. Engine room is claustrophobic for me just looking at it :) Do you have to tie yourself in very hard harsh weather? Do you need people outside in harsh weather to steer the boat at all times or autopilot or ??
Give the oligarchs Nord, Dilbar, and Eclipse. Let them have their floating hotels, their monstrosities. CeFeA's knee buckling beauty is one with the sea.
well if you have the money for something like this I can easily see why you would spend it like this. the boat is amazing looking and the details put into keeping crew happy as well is outstanding.
So this is how rich people have fun and show off between each other? The project has one drawback, which is probably crucial for the yacht's guests, because it makes their trip so pleasant. I think they just enjoy it when people feel uncomfortable and that's why the owner of the yacht organized a shared toilet for his crew next to their own cabins. He probably thinks he is a genius at organizing a good environment that motivates them to work more efficiently, i.e. even greater servility. Moreover, a vacation on such a yacht can motivate guests to get even more out of people in the future too. In my opinion, it is enough to move the toilet for the crew next to the washing machine, but I am afraid that the yacht owner will not like this idea at all. It's just looks like he want to prove that it's possible to achieve happiness by tormenting and abusing people in a sophisticated way. He's good at it. After all, it's just a small flaw in the yacht's design and who would even care about the crew's comfort? Just enjoy me dear friends the direction and place you are sailing to on my yacht.
Thanks for showing us around Toby, it is pretty, lovely clean lines but loads of wasted space and not a brilliant layout (my opinion anyway). The aft cabin, tiny heads, why?? I've seen bigger in a 50ft yacht. Still, different strokes for different folks.
@@paulthew2 depends, I like to ponder things whilst I'm having a time out and I don't like a cramped "moment". And when the boat is that large, why not. I'm not talking about dining area size, I'd probably just split it to be a separate shower room and separate head. However, it's all irrelevant because I couldn't afford it!! 😉
What is with all these boats that have no covering, awnings, or sheltered wheel houses. You're completely exposed to the elements and big crashing waves. You can only really practically use this on extremely nice/clam days, which is very few if you plan to travel a lot or across oceans. It seems like a waste of money to me. Bad design in my opinion. Each to their own though. You wouldn't catch me on that thing. Other than that, nice boat.
I suspect she will never venture out of the Med, where a comfortable luxury hotel is always within an hour or two sail away. No need to expose the owner and guests to horrible circumstances such as inclement weather.
For repair It could probably have a crew of 3 if it was rigged normaly, but 5 is needed to repair and maintain all these complicated automatic systems. It is clear that the owner that ordered this yacht have never repaired anything in his life.
There are a ton of systems that need attention. Docking a boat that big requires at least 3 people on deck and preferably 4 or 5. Cooking and cleaning for a boat that size is a lot of work if you don't want the boat to deteriorate. When you buy a boat this big you can afford to pay other people (who earn decent money) to do the things that allow you to enjoy the boat.
This not so small ship sets a new decoration standard. It is the total opposite of glassy flashy shiny surfaces found on first class range yachts interiors.
about as close to art as i’ve seen from a yacht. would be interested to here opinions of cruising both from the crew and guest’s perspectives, things they like and any significant flaws or complaints.
No, no, no, no, no! Playboy bimbos would be falling off the stern at alarming rates. Under no circumstance would I allow guests on this boat unless it was tied up to a dock.
Well I can't say I'd want a vessel like that. For me as a sailor it embodies all I dislike about sailing -> the boat is built for un-seamen-like owners to be carried around. The boat will most likely only go out in warm weather and with a light breeze. The whole design cries for being in a marina... I much prefer a sailors boat that is capable of getting me the "real" excitement of the oceans rather than this posh, artificial and distant experience.
@@slapshot1343 i would usually agree with you, but the presenter said a few times that the point of the design was to provide an experience for the owner where they are completely "segregated" from the crew which leads me to think it's intended as a kind of chauffeured experience for the owner. regardless, i'm sure this thing can rip so hopefully it does get used to it's full potential.
