  • I headed up to the Rockcastle Shooting Center recently with the Armalite AR-50 50 BMG rifle. We shot it between 800 and 1500 yards with some pretty impressive results. Here's what I think of it overall.

I shot an AR-50 in a narrow, concrete-walled indoor range. Recoil wasn't bad, but that muzzle blast was brutal. I was basically flashbanging myself.

yeah that shit sucks. a buddy of mine stuck an after market muzzle break on his ar that makes it ten times worse. even at an open range. it's not enjoyable to shoot.

Good god... at an INDOOR range? These are not for indoor use. Your basically firing a scaled down cannon indoors.

I recently acquired one of these and took it to a range on a Monday morning. After firing 30 rounds a
Range Safety Officer advised me to change my point of aim (I was destroying the back stop) and to never
bring it to the range on a weekend since the hideous blast wave from its discharge would make me a
very unpopular person, very quickly. That being said: WHAT A RUSH! Be well each of you.

Love your channel sir! Subscribed right away. I've been an AR50 fan for a long time, and my current AR50 BMG has been next to my safe(it's too big to fit inside!), for almost 10 years. I've put several thousand rounds through it without any problems, and my best groups have been with my current scope, a NF 8-32x56 NXS. The rifle is capable of much better accuracy than I am, and I can consistently hit a 30" gong at a 1000 yards. In the hands of a skilled shooter, this rifle would be scary. Thanks again for the review sir, and I look forward to future vids.

I am interested in this gun because it was the first 50 BMG I shot, and I remember that experience like it was yesterday. Then, maybe I can upgrade to the semi-auto .50 cal rifles.

I don't think there are any true down sides to the rifle. Price for all of these larger rifles are ridiculous to begin with, but this is relatively inexpensive.

Blue Dragon I'm in pa I could never live in Jersey, main reason is the gun laws. A mean black bear has more rights than law abiding citizens. Lots of Jersey and NYers moved to Pa. after 911 and brought with them their liberal voting views. Seems they are breeding like mad.

I got a chance to fire a few rounds through an AR50 at my local range. He had a very light trigger on his (under a pound) and a big f-class type bipod. It wasn't uncomfortable to shoot, but every round set off one or more car alarms in the parking lot 15 yards behind us.

Nice rifle trying to find one looks like possibly no longer made? Like your bipod,, but the scope probably won't last long. Rule of thumb for my rifles is the glass usually costs as much as gun and in most cases more depending on application. Lesson from 30 yeas of shooting in the military and professionally.

Using a 20 moa riser should get you zeroed from 100-1500 yards. pop on an adjustable riser for greater distances. And put a heavy duty sling on it so you can actually carry it. And a tripod mount.

  • @danm7298
    @danm7298 Рік тому +1

Id recommend putting a sling on it. makes it way easier to carry. And get a stealth tactical tripod for a mount. Id also recommend berrett 0 gap rings. even tho the ar 50 is the lightest recoiling bolt 50, you still need to mitigate recoil. With the 0 gap rings you might be able to use a 30mm scope which would normally be too small and not hold up to the recoil. And a 20 Moa riser. In addition to that i keep one of those risers that go from 25-200 moa.

Comes with a case with wheels I do believe the muzzle break is the same though, don't quote me on that , local shop has one just under five grand . If I was in the market I go with yours and save the 2000. Yes Any thing that size is a blast. If it isn't for you you should look into a different hobby. Thanks did we had it's about 2 bucks a round. Unless your loading your own . Then I think it's like $.50 less .

i still think the Taclite (T1) .50 BMG upper for AR-15s is still a better and somewhat cheaper alternative and in my opinion, it being only an upper receiver is a HUUGE plus, because of modularity. But then again, I do have a little bias tendency towards dedicated and proprietary rifles.

Just like my 338 Lapua. Satisfying every time I pull the trigger. Even my reloads are expensive.

Heard those are addictive like the milsurp bug, at least with this addiction you don't smell like cosmoline, you just spend iPhone prices for ammo

And now the military is going to the 300 Norma. I guess if the weapon gets into unfriendly hands, ammo will be hard to get.
Back to the 50, I remember someone writing years ago about shooting this without the break to see how hot the stove was and they said you only touch a hot stove once.

I have many Glocks and I like them a lot. BUT I have a Gen 3 19 that stove pipes and hits me in the face often. Just stating the facts. I shoot competitively and probably shoot about 20,000 rounds from pistols each year. Your correct, I'm sure it's me limp wristing it. Whatever makes you feel better about your Glock
