There are a few different types of 50 shooters. There are the ones that like playing around and blowing stuff up. There are those that appreciate the collectible value and don’t shoot it a ton and then there are those who are more interested in pursuing extreme long range marksmanship with it. The first group tends to get bored with it over time and eventually may get rid of it. The last group often pursues reloading with it and may be involved with competitive shooting. If you want to get serious with your 50, you got to get into reloading it yourself. Just because a 50 is capable of hitting targets over a mile doesn’t mean anybody can do it. Hooyah!!
I always wondered what it would be like suppressed...had a T&E gun from ArmaLite to do a series of videos...i wish i didn't have to send it back..kinda fellin love with it...
For long range shooting excellent gun. Low recoil due to weight. Down side being so heavy its a pain to move far. I generally use a car or SXS to get my AR50 to the shooting bench. Its close to 50lbs with all the accessories including suppressor.
Unless there is no one living beyond those barrels for 5+ miles, that 50bmg can travel 4-5 miles. Plus if you're aiming that low and your bullet hits that high and you can't adjust for that, you definitely need to change something.
Being my other comment, you have all that pitch and you couldn't Z at 100 yards...i used a Swaffa SS 10x with nothing but the 20 moa rail and zeroed mine at 100 yrds....that must be some extreme long range scope...
If you cant your rifle so your angled optic is on top it should be fine, I have shot red dots on AR's that were canted with no issues. I have not personally tested your question so I can't say for certain. I don't think people would use a canted optic for long range it just doesn't make sense. So the question about dope really wouldn't apply. Best bet is to go out and test it!
@@brokedadfilms9702 I guess I'm talking about how the top rail on the barrett comes angled from the factory. Would that mess up most online dope readings because the angle wouldn't match the scope since they aren't parallel
I see what your saying. Some rails come with built in MOA. Typically 20 or 30 MOA. I have shot out to 1925 yards with my old Barrett M107 A1 and the rail did not affect my scopes functionality but adds to its range. Example when most scopes are sighted in you are pretty close to the center of its adjustment. Meaning you truly only have half of your scopes adjustment once your zeroed. When you have a 20 or 30 MOA rail you are now zeroed down towards the bottom of your scopes adjustment. This means you have more to dial up to compensate for drop. A built in MOA rail will not affect your scopes hash marks they will still be accurate and not affected in any way. Once your zeroed you can do a hold over or dial up with your turret. I hope this makes sense. Short answer: you will be fine!

How bad does a angled rail/ angled rings mess up the dope when using drop hashes on a scope?

What are you using for your optics?
Vortex with MRAD EBR Reticle in First Focal Plane. There decent scopes but NF scopes would be a better option if you have the coin.
