So, Liu Kang is a literal god now that can easily annihilate some of the most powerful fictional characters ever? In the past, when I was young, Liu Kang was a badass that saved the day, but he was still just a normal human. But now he's a legit GOD? That's pretty cool. That seems to be going around. The same was done to Doomguy in the Doom franchise. Back in the classic games, he was just a badass, super pissed off human. But in the Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal lore, they changed it so that he's a literal demigod 'chosen one' character.
To give more context, in the last game (MK 11) Liu Kang fused with Raiden and took his power to defeat a crazy time god. After Fire God Liu Kang defeated them he rewrote the timeline to create a peaceful one that is in Mortal Kombat 1 (Liu Kang has definitely evolved to say the least haha)
