Chad's high screams are some of the best screams I have ever heard in metal. I listen to lots of deathcore and metalcore and stuff like that, and Chad's highs just stand out. I miss Mudvayne so much
cuz a lot of the screaming nowadays is done so carefully as there's all these "correct" ways to scream without damaging your vocal chords... i've only see the whole blowing your voice out thing happen with singers who don't rely on a safe technique, and that would include chad gray from this era. he was not doing it in a controlled manner, he literally destroyed his voice for L.D.50 and you could hear it in the long term.
i probably come off as "i don't like his screaming" but holy fuck if i had to say chad gray from l.d.50 era and corey taylor from the self-titled era i think have topped what cannot be topped ever, and are my all time favorite metal singers along with dax riggs and mike ix

Guy has helped me through some serious shit🤘I don't know him personally but 2004-5 I was in a bad place (14yrs old) 😂 I had "problems". Xbox, lost and found, my bc rich warlock and him n I would play sing and scream and you'd swear we were brothers/twins 🥲 I gave up on my dream😞 Ive probably missed my chance in music. Still I want you to know that my 14-year-old self and my 19-year-old self and my 21-year-old self and now my 31-year-old self, begin listening to your music, and we thank you!!! Thank you for getting us through some immensely difficult times and not going to killing myself! You've helped me get through the worst times in my life Chad, now here you are doing it again. Thank you so much man you don't know me but you know me and I don't know you but I know you. We know we know. Oh and not just you but all of Mudvayne! All of mudvayne Nation!!!!!! I love you guys don't never ever ever change who you are, mainly because you fuckin can't!!! Now, STAND IN THE CORNER AND SCREAM WITH ME!!!!!!! 🤘😆
They were/are nu metal, but these guys were one of the very few who were actually deep and complex. Most everyone else was top 40, studio radio friendly stuff that just kept repeating the same 3 sentences with cheap generic beats. Mudvayne was on a whole another level!
I feel like I will be like my old man one day. Saying "they dont make music these days like they used to." These boys brought it good and hard, Pioneers of the sound. holy cow, I cant get enough!!!
Had this concert on dvd - was absolutely mesmerizing and powerful in a way few things are. I would crank my system so loud my neighbors (I lived in a house with space between homes) would politely complain to me. Really, my house shook. It was fucking awesome. Very cathartic. I miss those days.
I lived it. Summer Sanitarium. First concert ever at Seahawks Stadium aka The Clink. The entire city heard that concert. The entire line-up kicked ass. Big whoop, wanna fight about it lol
This band was first heavy metal band I ever got into. By heavy metal, I just mean, Heavy, Metal, not the genre of Heavy Metal that people have listed. Still till this day I absolutely love this band.
It’s funny to see Matt with hair. If you watch the making of their music video for Dig, he explains how he wants long hair because he thinks he’s not sexy. Just shows he went through with it with the coming of their second album. Lol
@@adelineinactivity yeah the making of digs music vid was done a year previously so i think he actually meant it when he said he wanted to grow out his hair
I wish the next era in metal would hurry the fuck up and get here..I miss those times when every new song was anticipated, new album listened to over and over and over..things are pretty stale at the moment
Yeah, that'll never happen again bro. Everything is just being recycled, someone needs to come out and actually innovate. Seems like technical talent is growing but creative talent is dying.
Everybody is tuning down to Drop B and sounding the same with the vocals and breakdowns - and if it isn’t that then it’s technical sweep nerds like ^ this guy mentioned. WE NEED THAT GROOVE AND BELTED OUT VOCALS AGAIN
Vildhjarta is king of anticipation imo and have a unique sound, if anythign Vildhajrta/Humanity's Last Breath have taken over this feeling for me and have delivered. Might be something you want to check out.
I was there, man. And you are or wrong. Summer Sanitarium Tour @ Seahawk Stadium. Ft. DEFTONES, MUDVAYNE, LIMP BIZKIT, LINKIN PARK, & METALLICA. It was so loud, the entire city heard it.
Chad is such a charismatic guy ! I remember watching this video in 2009 and then it didn't feel so awkward to think that it was 6 years ago, now it kinda is when you think that this performance took place 12 years ago :(((((((((((((
Fidel Perez i agree but the pantera one wont ever happen vinnie and rex hate phil and vice versa and also good luck findin a good enough replacement for the great dimebag, but the mudvayne one is a very real possibility, they still all talk 2 each other and have disscussed a reunion multiple xs

Ah yea rip vinnie one of the greatest !! 👊
Best part is the fact that i grew up to this shit and i still enjoy hellyeah as well.... Must suck for some of you guys lol. I see when chad passes away a lot of these haters will be like OMG I LOVED HELLYEAH TOO!

Misfit-Los I think that no matter what, anything chad does is a fucking masterpiece! I mean, Hellyeah has recently become amazing and sounds more like mudvayne. But I think it's ultimately up to the bands. And I think that he is still the best songwriter/singer/artist alive to this day.
He is still a badass and your still a keyboard warrior. His badass level equals ten your on the other hand is plummeting to whiny little bitch levels...
I still to this day cant believe more bands didn't adopt a Ryan like bassist. He adds so much depth to songs
And he adds so much energy !! Most underrated bassist !!
Do you know how hard it is to find a bass player like that who will join a metal band? Especially back then.
Chad's voice in the early to mid 2000s was fucking epic. Unreal
greg does a nice job too at backup vocals
They were in their prime back then
Seriously.
Just saw them in Denver and this is fucking haunting in comparison. For obvious reasons...can't fault him for aging haha.
@Misterious there still just as good they are touring again
Matt is one of the most underrated metal drummers ever plain and simple!

Oh yeah..... This year marks the 20th anniversary of LD50
Was at this concert, mudvayne, Deftones, METALLICA.... IT WAS AWESOME (Great stadium acoustics)

LD .50 , a true work of a bands undying drive to make metal. Forever top 10 in my book.
It’s funny to see Matt with hair. If you watch the making of their music video for Dig, he explains how he wants long hair because he thinks he’s not sexy. Just shows he went through with it with the coming of their second album. Lol
I'm pretty sure even in 2001 he was growing his hair out
@@adelineinactivity yeah the making of digs music vid was done a year previously so i think he actually meant it when he said he wanted to grow out his hair
i always think of him saying that when i see him with hair lol
He even dyed his hair a mix of purple and green late 2001 he really did do what he said he’d do in that video
