    Oh my god, that tip with the settler and salting the earth is amazing, I had no idea you could do that.

    All good tips there, Waervyn :)
    I often use the Settle/Salt the Earth trick where I'm racing an enemy Settler to one of those perfect city locations. Usually can do exactly as you show in the video, occasionally I'll keep the city up until I can get another Settler there, then Salt. Well worth gaming it to get a strategically vital region or a location with multiple + approval anomalies & such.

    Tip number 1: Why even fight with the necrodrone? Can't you just retreat, thus not even losing it?

    I think the correct word is "besiege" not siege as a verb. A besieged town is under a siege. Sorry for mentioning that like a grammar nazi. Your video and explanations are great. I am very lost in this game, and I just started playing it after close to 1000 hours of Civ VI and Civ V. Late to the party, but the game is pretty fun.

    How did you create your army with 6 units??? I am stuck with only 3 units, it says that there is not enough slots.

    Pretty sure unspent production and research is lost, it even says so in the tutorial. Can't say for certain without testing it though

    • @WaervynsWorld
      @WaervynsWorld  8 років тому +12

      Yes, if you have that leftover at the end of your turn it's lost. However, if you researched something and that finished on your turn, but it cost 10 science, even if you had 20 science from last turn. You can still spend that 10 leftover science on your current turn, even if you hadn't queued anything up yet. Hope that makes sense.

    • @gfsvc

      Just tested, you are correct. Not sure why I thought otherwise

      +Angus Davies , you are not alone, i recently played the tutorial, and it still tells you to always have something in que because resources get wasted. It appears that the tutorial is simply outdated.

    Great video :-)
    2 comments, on tip number 1 it's not really viable on early game, and on tip number 2 by tier 3 you usually don't have any more region to settle in, so the improved speed level 3 is a bit useless, and you will rather use the improved speed level 1 in early game.
    Another thing, are you sure your production or science isn't wasted when there isn't anything queued? That seems weird to me ^^

    • @WaervynsWorld
      @WaervynsWorld  9 років тому +4

      +Sire Triste Hey! Thanks for the comments! Science and production is wasted if you don't produce something for an entire turn (i.e. it doesn't transfer to the next turn). However. Let's say you have 200 production and you're building a unit that costs 100. That means that next turn the unit will be finished, but you will also have the 100 production left over (leaving you with 300 production next turn). Hope I'm explaining that ok.

      Waervyn's World The explanation is good, I got it, thank you.
      But I really never thought it could work like this, as it seems quite weird to me...
      I will try it for sure ^^

      @@WaervynsWorld from what I understood in the video, I could go 5 turns with no construction/research and then chose something taking 6 turns and then finish it in 1 turn as if the science or production are ressources that can be stored...
      Question? Later in the game when you can reasearch and build stockpiles, does that allow you to actually "save up" research and production?

    Salting the earth.. I hate it when people exploit game mechanics in multiplayer. Just like in Starcraft where people use buildings as walls - it totally breaks the immersion for me.

      Haha! Yeah. But I doubt they attacked the farmers' houses with their swords until they started burning ;)

      It's actually the reason I never play games like this in multiplayer. That said, I found the tip and thought it would be useful for people that do play 'competitively'.

      Well it is all about your imagination. I see this temporal city more like a temporal camp.

    • @SoronMuuch

      Using buildings as walls in Starcraft isn't exploitation like salting the earth in this specific case, I doubt that the designers intended it to be that way, besides the fact you can settle and salt the earth in one turn, so maybe it is?? But back on topic, using buildings as walls, especially for Terran was completely intended, this is seen specifically in Starcraft 2 with the fact you can lower and raise supply depos to act like a gate, also Terran struggle to deal with fast zerg units early such as zerglings(which is the basic/first zerg unit). Also Terrans struggle vs rushes, hence why building a wall with buildings is almost always required in order to survive early game pressure/cheese. So point being, not everything that is used a unique way is exploiting, and is actually quite intended. Using buildings as walls is seen in most real team strategy games(rts) to this day regardless. Ever play any of the age of empires games? its a quite common tactic among players. I can't imagine what triggers you if 'using walls as buildings' bothers you. Hope I enlightened you just a little, even though this is 5 months after the post.

      To me, the "salting the earth" trick would suggest that the settler represents a large number of population, large enough to form two units of militia. Therefore, when attacked, any settler unit should theoretically have two units of militia spawn to defend it. Unless we assume it's a matter of preparation (when attacked while traveling, settlers don't have enough time to form the militia?).... or what's likely the case here - game balance, since Amplitude Studios wanted settlers to be cheap. But then, maybe new cities shouldn't spawn with two militia right away?
      Also, it's a real life tactic - the Roman Empire was famous for having its armies build temporary forts every day while traveling. The only weird thing in Endless Legend is that only settlers can do it, while in history it was often the soldiers who built fortifications while on the move.
      As for Starcraft, using buildings as walls is very much intended by developers. Many similar games simply let you build walls. Blizzard chose to go with buildings as walls because it makes the game simpler (one less building for players to manage) and also less work for developers, as this saved them a lot of coding and artwork necessary to make nice looking walls for each faction.
      Personally, I'd only be salty if other people in multiplayer were to use actual bugs and glitches to their advantage.
