As a licensed property claims adjuster, now retired, I worked, catastrophic storm events all over our nation, And was NF IP, certified to adjust flood losses. The NF,IP flood maps do not account for all of the flooding that takes place in our nation. If you’re home or business does not fall within the NFIP flood map you cannot purchase flood insurance. The young woman suggesting that I and you should know your flood zone map is absurd. Most people with an IQ over 85. Do you know whether or not their home is subjected to or vulnerable to flooding. If so, they should read books. And make preparation’s. Dependency upon government agencies, to save us in advance of a catastrophic event, is stupidity. Take your own life into your own hands in advance of a catastrophic event, which from my experience can happen to anyone.

I was in the Navy for 4 years and worked for MWR, which included managing the Child Care system until around 1998 when Child Care became it's own Federal entity supported by congressional dollars. My point is that active duty military and their families get orders to move every 4 years, not every 1-2 years. It is still a hardship, but this woman is uninformed.
