Far too old female UK gamer here, been playing for aeons. When I play a game - and if given the choice I play as a female - I WANT to play as a pretty woman, why the heck would I want to look frumpy. I simply don't understand these sad people.

One little mistake and her sexy long hair could easily get cut off. It would be a high score for realism if that was actually possible in the game, and if it happened, you were stuck with it. Add stuff like scars, and realism, you could start pretty and become progressively worse for wear, until healed up.

My daughter and I were watching the Studio Ghibli movies in order this weekend to get ready for them to be in theaters this summer and I can't believe I never noticed just how many have a female lead, honestly never picked up on just how many. I’m a white guy and when I was like 15/16 years old, I had a black girlfriend that literally came over and hung out with me and my other few white friends as well as my other few black friends (but we didn’t look at it like this. The 90's and early 2000's was when the whole "color-blind society" thing really started to take off. Developers are just going to have to decide what's more important. Catering to consumers and making a ton of sales, or catering to activist sociopaths and getting good reviews/awards from failing activist journos. I actually love the fact that Hyung-Tae Kim insisted on keeping her long ponytail. I used to draw women similar to EVE all the time including the long hair. Also the fact the game gives you the option to shorten it shows they’ve listened to fan feedback from people who find it distracting. Not me though I think it really adds to her appeal. Hyung-Tae Kim and his team are true artists.

That part about the cease and desist really got me thinking...
Here in Scotland a new law comes into effect this month that can see anyone found guilty of offensive speech jailed for up to 7 years. Yes, offensive speech! So, someone like BGG could potentially claim to be a victim, as they have here, and declare they are deeply offended and hurt by someone's words and get the arrested! This seems utterly nonsensical. Yet, I received a notice from police Scotland that I must remove posts from my FB and X accounts for being anti-inclusive and anti-LGBTQ+ or potentially face prosecution when the law goes live.
In essence, I stated that Woke propaganda has no place in any form of media. People who are not actually trans but identify as trans are destroying what it means to be transgender and are also destroying what it means to be a woman - to be a female. Because males cannot become female and vice versa, even after countless surgeries. This is Biological FACT. Yet, should someone find these comments offensive and I keep them up on FB and X and they report me, I can now risk prosecution under this bs Scottish law. Me and many people I know here in Scotland have already received warnings from the government that we have posted "potentially sensitive, harming, and/or offensive" things online that should be removed to avoid someone being offended / hurt and reporting it. Shoukd they report you for something like that, the police now have to act and investigate, with potential for jail time if found to be saying something hurtful, hateful or offensive. My wife watched me play the demo and she absolutely loved the costumes. So much so that she pre-ordered the game at GameStop on my behalf to get the pre-order bonus costume. She did not know that I want going to purchase it day one due to the 70 dollar price point, but oh well.

Hi EndymionYT, I'm a fellow french gamer, I reviewed the IGN France article about Stellar Blade in case some informations were lost or changed by the translation. To me, the translation is pretty much perfect, I didn't notice any mishaps of any sorts.
I will never understand why people have problems with things not being realistic. Isn't that the point of fiction? It's not supposed to be realistic, unless it's something like Historical Fiction.

It's definitely looking like that's gonna be the case. Cause dragons dogma, rise of the ronin and FF7:rebirth dropped the ball. Though they weren't trash, they had a handful of problems. All stellar has to do is drop in the state the demo did and they'll essentially have the game won.

HL's only good part was the fanservice (Which was kinda meh to be honest). The game was a souless "ubisoft like" game with SO SMALL type of enemy that just fell off. The exploration was kinda flat, since finding a place never felt like much of a thing and more like a "oh, i got this on the list now, scratch it and go for the next" more than actually exploring.
It was overall a mediocre game with an outstanding atmosphere in it. But that's due the universe it took upon.
You could change wands for guns and you would have a bad farcry on your hands.

I too also enjoyed Stellar Blade demo, might pick it up physical as well. Trying to pick up as much physical “single player” titles due to this push for Renting everything, own nothing, mentality.
The thing is with SB it’s a similar vibe to Nier, where it’s pretty clear your female character is either enhanced in some way, or has undergone training, unlike Scary Jane, who is just able to one shot Kraven’s Hunters, or block an attack from Venom that could really hurt Spider-Man let alone kill a normal human, but she takes it like a champ somehow.
As a woman gamer, and playing games since the age of 5, I can remember playing SMB2 and loving a chance to be Princess Peach and have the extra float in my jump. Playing MK and always choosing Kitana bc she was so beautiful and I wanted the chance to step into her shoes and kick some serious a$$. Games that were as different as The Little Mermaid, Parasite Eve, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3... all of these I loved being a female character that was beautiful and strong in many different ways. It let me escape my own mundane life and live a different one where perfection was easy.
I played the Stellar Blade demo to completion and I loved it. The gameplay is fun and engaging, the story is intriguing, the collectibles are lore heavy and there are so many little opportunities for non-linear exploration. Yes, she's a beautiful main character but in my opinion, she should be! She's part of a dystopian future where horribly disfigured creatures have destroyed Earth, and each small bit of beauty in world inhabited by ugly creatures is so welcome! Not to mention that Tachy is also quite pretty and Adam is handsome. The whole game is the perfect way to make both men and women happy while journeying through a fictional world that doesn't have an underlying present day agenda. I’m a guy and regardless of the gender I’m playing in a game, I want my character to fucking look good while killing the bad guys, even if it will give me less armor or health. One, it’s cool, and two, I love me a challenge 😎

I remember when these folks were getting mad that when women were included into assassin's creed that they were all athletic and good looking. I'm sorry, but you're not gonna convince me that a modern "body positive" type person is gonna be capable of all that parkour, especially without falling through the roof of some of those rickety buildings. there is a reason gymnists all have the same body type. It is more unrealistic to expect that people who look like that are capable of moving and performing the way your character in a game does.

Gaming is now the biggest entertainment industry, and money will talk more than anything. Hogwarts Legacy not being given awards? Why does that matter, really, why? It was already the best selling game of the year, so what would some lame ass award from some rigged fuckin ceremony affect it? We finally reached the breaking point where everyone realized the screaming minority was just really loud and no matter how upset they get, we'll still get great games that make money.

I feel like nowadays there’s less representation for black characters than ever before. Ironic during a time where almost every game studio is owned by a company that wants to push pro representation in all video games and all the black characters are either side characters or npc’s. Still remember playing 50 Cent Bulletproof and Def Jam back in the days.
For the heels argument, Buffy did this years ago. She actively went out in dresses in heels to fight vampires, demons, and gods. Selene in Underworld did pretty much the same, but I guess you could call those platform boots if my attire knowledge is right. Women getting dressed up to kick ass is nothing new and has been part of the female power fantasy for a while. They want to look good kicking ass just as much as any dude wants to be either a grizzled old vet (that one might be just me though). I also tried Demo of Stellar Blade. It gave me nostalgic feeling when I played Code Vein first time. And it's good cause it introduced me to more Soulslike games and souls itself. This demo just showed me that I did right thing buying preorder because it's like game is tailored for my taste in gameplay and art style.
As a french canadian i'm sad that 100% of the institutions in my language are woke now, no official conservative representation anywhere to be found, but that doesn't represent all of us.

I’m doing the same. I was just getting the physical copy but then I realized that you couldn’t get the deluxe version. Now I have both purchased. If Sony does something stupid like make them patch the game to remove anything I will have the physical copy to play the game in it vanilla form.
Finished the demo yesterday and beat the boss battle twice. Amazing. You know they are confident when they release the demo a full month ahead of time. Can't wait for the full release. No weirdo inside a delusional echo chamber is going to ruin my fun. 😂

video games are fictional and meant to entertain. it doesn't matter if Eve is walking around in a latex suit and heels, there are FF characters lugging around swords bigger than themselves and have machine guns for arms, but they don't cry about that because its male characters. let alone going on any live stream or social media page with the new cast of COD MW the women commenting on there are boardeline harassming and perving on the male characters, but once again, silence. and I am a woman saying this. her character design is cool and stands out, which is what I was taught in my animation program. its good to have variety in the industry, but not everything is for everybody. their target audience isn't the journos clearly so they can cry harder.
