Always love your positive energy Ben. It helps keep me motivated in my training. I’m running the Long Beach half marathon here in California in October and been documenting my training journey (plus my travel adventures on my channel). I’ve got a couple other races coming up so i’ll be documenting those too. :) London is high on my bucket list to run one day. Hopefully, I can do it next year.
Well thanks Ben . Just started running but my channel is from a big guy pov .. (105kg) haven't done any race yet mentally not ready yet no convident enough. But training to get in shape . Learning and doing by trial and error . Trying lots of shoes . Aparantly running shoes don't magically make your runs easy. It's hard work! But so rewarding . Thanks for the motivation Ben
Cheers for this three-race series, Ben! I'm just about to start a set of three running events on consecutive weekends and it was great to see how much you enjoyed the experience. Can't wait to get started now!
Thanks for the content and enthusiasm Ben that’s keeping me going towards a 3.30 Manchester Marathon target in 5 weeks, after a 1.40 Cheltenham half last weekend…thing is I’m 63 and limited to 3 days pw plus cross training due to knee problems after 40+ years on the road, I was nearly as good as you once! Run well in London.
9:40, the fastest courses in North West in my opinion are 5k: Mid Cheshire, 10k: Trafford or Wilmslow, 10 mile: Myerscough. Dunno about anything else coz never ran a race or ran on a course that’s over 10 miles
Positive, Positive, Positve attitude is what we need Ben and Sarah - thank you soo much for the inspiration.... .... what do you want to know about us... urrrrrr Loch Ness Marathon (first time in Scotland) its in 4 weeks OMG..!!! - and so glad you ran in Loch Ness so recently - I'm still Hill training for Snowdonia Trail Marathon Next Year and hell squeeze in some more Ultras....... Flying over from North Carolina in the US to run London in just a few weeks time! First marathon for me, ninth marathon for my father and possibly his last. Aiming for 3:15-3:30 finishing time. I'll have to rock the black/red Parkes hat on race day. Cheers, keep up the great content!

Great video thank you. HCA Marathon in Odense, Denmark is actually the fastest marathon in the world (based on average finish time), the race is 26th of September and it will be my very first marathon :)
Kind of feel that way about Cheltenham as you do about Milton Keynes…. The course wasn’t quite as I expected, a bit hillier and the weather as you mentioned wasn’t ideal! But we bank those efforts and move into the next!!
Nice to have a quick chat (& pic) with you Sunday before the start! I ran 1:53 was hoping for 1:50 so with the heat and twisty route I’m reasonably happy. Something to improve. Marshall’s were very nice.
I have my half PB last year at MK. Although the hill at the end knocked off a couple of mins atleast. I ran the 20miles this Sunday and the temperature was horrendous!!
First ever full marathon this year and yes it's London! Can't wait. It's been a long wait and the trainings been tough after being deferred last year. The goal was to do it before I was 50 but hey ho, 51 is as good an age as any! Set my self a goal of 3:40 but secretly hoping for 3:30. Let's get this done !!! ;)
I love how you make your videos with such simplicity. It’s really easy to get sucked into wanting to buy more gear as you watch the big guys. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoy your racing videos because your enthusiasm is infectious!
Ben you are obviously a fantastic runner but you are also a champion guy. I love your honesty in your videos. I do wish I could buy your singlets and tees but my experience with customs clearance makes me hesitant. All the very best for London
glove season hey! looking foward to your thoughts on the next % 2. I've used them them in 2 races so far and seem slightly different to the originals with the new upper material.
Yea they now use the Alphafly upper on them, but they didn't transfer the sock fitting over which Is a little bit of a bummer. Still a beautiful shoe, I have been meaning to find a time to do a comparison video between the next% and the alphaflys
The fastest 10k course has got to be the Mick Morris 10k in South Wales, it’s downhill nearly all the way! I ran the London marathon on a charity place (only way I could get in!), fantastic atmosphere, but way too crowded to run a fast time. I did run my marathon PB at Manchester, only for them to discover a few years later the course was short! :( And I did the first ever MK marathon, less said about that, the better! 😂
Cheshire has some rapid 5k courses - Mid Cheshire, Capenhurst and Christleton are all fast; christleton is apparently the fastest in the country! Telford’s 10k is also supposedly the quickest in the country!
100% agree Christleton is class. I prefer Mid Cheshire and I think Trafford is faster than Telford (even tho I haven’t ran Telford b4) coz many pro runners race there too but we get the idea, Cheshire has loads of quick races
The Gosport Summer Series 5k races are pretty quick. Flat course all along the sea front. Only downsides are the wind can be an obstacle and the route isn't closed to the public so the odd long dog lead can cause an issue but 99% of people are fantastic. I'm hoping the Gosport Half Marathon in Nov is a quick course too as we don't really have any hills round here to practice on and it will be my first half marathon 😊
Another great update Ben. I started my channel about a year ago filming my first Ultramarathon, and then I just wanted to showcase how much fun running can be to try to inspire others to give running a go. Lately I've been making cinematic parkrun videos with great response from the locals. If anyone cares to check it out, I would really appreciate it 🙌
I'm running Berlin and London in consecutive weeks. Berlin is my target race and going to London to enjoy it. Been several years as a cheer squad member so will be nice to run and soak up the atmosphere
i'm a newbie runner! Absolutely love your channel! Having guts running and vlogging in public is something i'm trying to get use to, but it is pretty fun. You make it seem so much more fun!
Put this video on to keep me company washing the dishes... 30 mins later I was out the door doing a 10km speed session 🙈🤣 Keep inspiring Ben! Received my hat in the post, love it! 💪
My first half marathon, I had high hopes for a PB, but the weather (which was sweltering) combined with a course that was far hillier than I had thought made it really difficult.
agree Battersea Park is a fast location, I ran a 10k pb there earlier this year and will look for another 10k race later this year. Dulwich parkrun 'not a race' is a super fast 5k route, I think even faster than Battersea as there is literally no turns just curves. Manchester half is the quickest half course I've run, loads of long straightaways, similar to the marathon which is also the quickest albeit only marathon I've run.
Thanks for the checklist great job Sarah👍. Returning to the Uk soon from Canada to run the Chelmsford Marathon and will be around in London watching the London Marathon so if you need any filming done let me know and I’ll send my contact details. Great blog as always 👏
Well done Ben, great video as always. I ran the MK20 same day and got a 2:07 which i was happy with, i found the course a little twisty and turny, also the last couple of miles a bit hilly especially when youve already ran 18 miles by that point. Weather was hot but not too bad.
Well done Ben. The route was different to when I did the MK half back in May. I didn’t rate the Vaporfly 2, they just don’t feel as good as the first ones, interesting as well why they are cheaper? Very unlike Nike 😂
I'm also running London and want championship qualification time of sub 2:40 or way out there goal of sub 2:30. Where you thinking about doing the shake out run on the Saturday and what kinda of time? It was hot and hard to run a half I the Sunday just gone as I found it hard at Cheltenham HM
I was there on Sunday and it was my second half marathon - 1:25. Not a PB but pretty happy considering the heat and the course, and it was cool to be running quite close to you for at least the first few kms😅
Under 2:40 is my ultimate goal too....we may end up running London togheter...we could team up. Would you be my pacer? It may be my only chance to get my goal 😆
@@BenParkes thank you for your words! Actually I think it will be hard to race fast since I raced another Marathon on the 21st of August in really bad weather conditions and missed a PB by 46s....so 2 fast Marathons in 6 weeks is not ideal. But I will get it done and try my best to reach my goal. Hope to see you at the finish line at least, since I can't be present at parkrun on Saturday because I have to do the day 2 PCR test that morning....😭
