Excellent review, buddy! I have the San Martin V2 Hulk and I struggle to take it off and wear another watch. I’m not a huge fan of the San Martin logo, but I’m glad they choose to apply it on the dial. I prefer that over just having “San Martin” on the dial, especially since it doesn’t match the “San Martin” on the clasp. Speaking of the clasp, here’s hoping San Martin does a glide lock on the next version!

To tell you the truth the end of the lugs are pretty sharp, but it's never caused me any problem, you don't feel them at all when in wrist. As for the bracelet links are not sharp. Don't forget to enter the contest to win this watch:

Just received my black v3. Very impressed, with the exception of two screw pins that were seized in too tight, and ended up stripping the head on one of the pins using their supplied tool. But really a minor gripe. So much value with SM, such high quality for the money. Now wish to buy the SM DJ 059! Great job on the reviews Sir.

I have a V3 Black Water Ghost on its way thanks to the Ali Express Sale and all the "Coin Games I played to get Coupons" . I have a large wrist and ordered two extra links with screws. I was hoping the Screw/ Link issue was resolved and hope I do not have the same issue.
@@stevenhershman2660 good for you, I'm sure you will enjoy it very much! To minimise the chances of stripping the head of the screws make sure the screw driver is perfectly fitted with the screw and apply enough strength. Use the screw driver they provide with the watch it's excellent quality!
Hello AG. The clasp of the SM is already wonderful in my opinion. Having never ordered a clasp with a glidelock I couldn't say and I don't want to recommend something without testing it first. Here's an idea though, why don't you ask San Martin if they can direct you to where they bought the clasps for the V1? I heard they are amazing. Maybe they want to sell you one themselves

Great review. I'm with you on the logo mate. I personally think the best one is the applied 'San Martin' text version they do on some of their watches. If they aren't going to use that though, I don't know why they don't just use the Shark as the logo, same as the crown.
I like the applied San Martin text they have on their bronze watch also! That was is bigger though so not sure they can use the exact same one. It definitely shouldn't be printed but applied logo. Love the shark on the crown but I wouldn't want it on the face.

For me I like the logo and bolder printing on the bezel. This will make it more legible underwater for diving. After all that is what the Rolex Submariner was designed for.
I am glad to see someone get the new model and do a review because I have been interested in getting the V2 but they stop selling it. I do like the cyclops that makes it a true Homage to the Sub. I am not a fan of the logo either you can get it without. They should have gave you the option to get the name or logo the only way you can get it is to do the custom logo option which you have to pay extra for. I asked them and I am not paying like $34. to advertise their name that is just plaint crazy. Thanks for the video. You have or going to do any other really good Homages reviews.

I’d really like if San Martin would use just there name instead of that logo but instead of printing it apply it in stainless steel. It would look awesome!
I don't get all the hate with the applied logo, I really like it. Guess I'm in the minority. I actually hated the printed font, looks really generic and ugly
I have a few blackface watches but that is my favourite of the three options for San Martin. Debating between Smurf and Hulk but I would love if they made a GMT Batman or Coke or Pepsi versions! I would buy all of them due their quality. That all said.... it needs to be applied logo on the face with similar text they have on the clasp as they have on their bronze watches. That will be a game-changer and I would buy all the version then.

The GMT would be a great thing for them, although it's a bit tricky as there is no equivalent for the NH35 on GMT movements and Chinese homages usually come with cheaper Chinese GMT movements
Just bought the black version of the SN017-G on sale and I'm looking forward to getting it soon. Also, the crowns are different depending on what colour you get! Black and blue gets the shark the green gets the $. And lastly love the hex logo and I hope it remains FOREVER! ;-)

I want to buy SM MM300 without a date, the green one, but it's not available :( I have a black Heimdallr V2 Sharkmaster, but it's black dial is not that black that I want (little "washed"), and now I want the green one. I want San Martin, because it has nicer green than Heimdallr and SM has much more better lume.

Good Review.........I prefer a Logo over the white printed letters. The Logo could use some improvement. I believe that movement needs a step up from the NH35. The clasp works and is nice but could have "on the fly" micro adjust at that price point.
I agree for the logo part. As for the upgraded movement and on the fly adjust that's a lot to ask for the price! Especially that the NH35 is usually excellent, mine is running within COSC on all my San Martins. Maybe the on the fly adjustment can be eventually incorporated... we should ask San Martin 😁
Man, I’m still torn if I want V2 (with the plain text) or the V3 (with the applied hex logo). I would have preferred applied San Martin text as they do on some of their other watches, but you can’t have it all. Any advice on which to get? Waiting for their summer sale on June 21.
I would go for the V2 personnally. I believe that on this model the hex logo doesn't work too well. And I agree with you, an applied text would have been better 👍
@@Horologique I think San Martin put in a good effort to establish a logo. I guess it’s just the hexagonal shape that is throwing me off. It makes the sub homage look kind of cartoonish. I wonder if their V5 will have the applied San Martin logo then!
There might not be a V5, as they have gone with their homage to the 2020 Subs with the PT5000 and the SW200, but those are significantly more expensive. Too bad, these were wondeful value
@@Horologique yeah, the PT5000 for the SN019 is too expensive at 320+ USD and even more for the SW200 movement. someone said that the V3 had a chunkier clasp and bracelet compared to the V2? If so, I may just have to get the V3 and hope that the hex logo won’t bother me.

Nice review! For my taste the blue bezel is a little bit too bright and I agree about the numerals being a little too bold however I am a fan of green and blue dials and this sunburst dial looks fantastic! Btw I hope I’m not partially responsible for the logo change, I’ve also made comments on other channels about how I didn’t like the original San Martin font but not completely convinced by the new logo either! Nevertheless fantastic watch for the money! Enjoy 😀
Thank you very much for your nice comment! The green is the favourite for me, and now with the Hulk and Smurf Rolex being discontinued, this make more and more sense! They got it a bit wrong on the bezel insert but the applied logo is subject for debate, many in the comments love it!
Chinese watches are really amazing offerings good quality and amazing price. Where can u buy Japanese NH 36 movement, sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel, and solid 316L stainless steel bracelet for less than $200. I bought 7 of them in different styles ( Pagani Design and San Martin). One for each outfit and different occasions. Very happy with my purchases.

The lume on my Orient Ray ll (the Sapphire varient) is pretty good too and since Seiko apparently absorbed Orient I think the newer Orient watches also have staikos proprietari superluminova on them
Wonderful! Yes, Seiko and I believe now Orient use their proprietor Lumibrite technology which is wonderful as well. All my Seikos, especially the Monster, shine like torches ☀️

They are totally different watches. The San Martin Sub is a homage, the Sea Urchin is an original design. On the Specs department the SM is better: NH35 hacking and hand winding versus 7s36 non hacking and non hand winding, sapphire crystal vs hardlex, ceramic bezel insert vs aluminium. Much better bracelet on the SM as well. It all depends on what you value, originality and brand prestige or specs. Good luck!
@@Horologique i see yeah in my opinion this san martin offers more bang for the buck, but i checked the sea urchin on my wrist and my wrist is like 6 and quarter i think? since i am an asian and most of asian's wrist are not that wide and i feel like the sea urchin overwhelmed my wrist, do you think this SM subby will also overwhelm on my wrist? i really like the aesthetics and specs of the san martin but i am afraid that it will overwhelm my wrist also just like the sea urchin, since i wil not have a chance to try this SM submariner first before i buy it
@@davidsonviray1403 I don't know, all I can tell you is that the important thing is the lug to lug and the Endlink to Endlink distances. The SM has a l2l of 47mm and an e2e of around 50. Another advice, look in detail at my videos, I have a 16.5mm wrist, so not much larger than yours. Good luck with your decision!
The blue looks really good. I have a V1 Hulk and I much prefer the bracelet and especially clasp to the V2/V3. It just looks like a random strap code bracelet. If they would stuff a mioyta 9015 (for $100 more) and brought back the previous bracelet and clasp without the polished enter links I would bite on a second.
I never got to experience the V1 bracelet, but it does look good. You are right that this bracelet looks a bit like a strapcode one, but having owned both this is better made and prettier with that nice chamfer. If you fancy the blue you can always get it and switch bracelets with your V1.

actually, for the average wrist, that would be a bad move, since the watch head, being heavy, will slide up or down. Happens with all my watches that have female end links.
andrei-cosmin popa pretty interesting perspective. I suppose a possible solution is to just wear it a little tighter so it doesn’t slide around as much, but still a valid point.

There is such thing as the perfect Watch its all subjective to the individual. I think the Rolex submariner is the perfect watch, not far behind the Cronos and the San Martin. I have handled all 3 thats perfection.
Thanks for the great video. I have two of the V2, and there seems to be variations between cyclops magnification, bezel resistance, movement accuracy, and crown-thread smoothness. But overall great watches. I also agree with you about hex logo, I’d rather see applied SanMartin logo.
@@Othusdragonreviews Absolutely they are among my favorites. Anything SanMartin makes will generally speaking be high quality and well reviewed on UA-cam by watch community. As far as AliExpress goes, SanMartin and Cronos (formerly LugYou) are good consistent quality manufacturers.

In V1 and V2 the Indices were a little bit creamy, not clear white, seems they changed it to more white, isn´t it? On Ali pics the crown isn´t signed already, hope they all get the signed crown...
I don't agree, caps lock font San Martin logo printed on the dial looks just cheap, cheap in a bad way. There is something odd about this font, size and place on the dial. Applied logo pops, it shimmers in the light. I think that new versions of San Martin watches with applied 3d logo would be great sellers.
As usual buy the seller! If you have a choice take a shipment coming from Europe or close to where you live. I myself have had no trouble, but you never know
If they could engrave san martin all around the chapter ring that would be dope. A drawback is definitely fatter numerals on the bezel, v2 looks much cleaner and crisper. Which is the reason why I havnt picked up a pagani gmt numerals are fat and inconsistent. So waiting on the san martin version, hope they don't fudge that bezel up.
The engraving would be wicked, Heimdallr are the only ones to do it from what I know. As for the fat numerals, yes, they should have stuck to the thinner ones of the V2

Horologique I think the Hulk homages comparison is interesting too. But a comparison between San Martin and the Tisell Marine Diver would be really unique. There is currently no video on UA-cam comparing these two similarly priced homages.
Horologique I know such a comparison video would definitely help me (and probably a few other consumers to) in deciding whether to get the San Martin or the Tisell.
You are not the first to give that feedback. I have not felt this but for the clasp when you close it, it can pinch your skin indeed. Where would you say it's sharp, the end of the lugs, the clasp ?
@@Horologique It was shark at the end of the clasp, the edges of the band, and the watch itself where it touches the arm. You can say that most of the parts that touch the arm were sharp. So it was not nice to wear it. I have differnt watches from Rolex to Pagani and never made that experience before.
Very good review. The watch looks amazing. Personally, I prefer a logo on the watch dial because, I understand as a collector, logos change over the years so they are a good indication of when a watch was manufactured.
If you get it through normal courrier you won't get any import duties (I've bought many watches from Ali express and normal courrier never gets import tax). If you end up getting it though DHL or other fast delivery options you will always get the tax and an administration fee, I had to pay 35 euros extra in all.
They did!! But they keep iterating I believe, improving and changing things here and there, although I believe there's as much difference between this and the V2 than between the V1 and the V2. Are we looking at a V4 for October 😂?

@@Horologique from what I've read on forum both watches being manufactured from same factory, I would assume quality wise they both the same, and I contacted heimdallr seller today and they told be the current one is improved version that they have addressed the bezel rotation issue. What out me off with SM is the brand name...
They told me the same, I have this "newer" version and I can assure you they haven't addressed the rotation issue. Plus the bracelet is inferior with push pins and the clasp is partially pressed. Don't hesitate to check my review of the Heimdallr, I go through all this in great detail 👍
I wish they would change the hexagonal dial logo. It calls too much attention to itself. I just purchased my first San Martin but it has the brand name in cursive script on the dial.
Keep in mind that during the review two studio lights are projecting onto the watch. But yes, it's not a dull blue, as you can see more of a royal blue, I like it 😎
Wouldn't call it a review. First impresions after unboxing. Not a single word about sharp edges of every possible part of the watch. Sharp unpleasant crown. However, you can say it only after wearing it for a few days.
That's why I used the tool to be sure. Indeed, a lot of the information on Ali Express pages is wrong, better check by ourselves and when in doubt ask the seller directly
You should ask yourself,, does the Chinese company pronounce "san martin" that way? I don't think so. It seemed a little ridiculous to me to force that heavy accent onto the name . Just a small criticism, otherwise a decent review... 👍
That logo.... San Martin, if you're reading this... change it please! It's enough to put me off buying your great watches! It looks like a first year student's first attempt at a logo design. Nooo......

i just recieved my san martin hulk yesterday. The quality is so good for a $200 watch. Fit and finish is better than my 500 watch

It is pretty sharpy but not uncomfortably so. Other people have complained about this though keep that in mind

Great review. I'm with you on the logo mate. I personally think the best one is the applied 'San Martin' text version they do on some of their watches. If they aren't going to use that though, I don't know why they don't just use the Shark as the logo, same as the crown.

I like the applied San Martin text they have on their bronze watch also! That was is bigger though so not sure they can use the exact same one. It definitely shouldn't be printed but applied logo. Love the shark on the crown but I wouldn't want it on the face.
The shark logo would make sense since it's on the crown. They could also put small San Martin text underneath.

For me I like the logo and bolder printing on the bezel. This will make it more legible underwater for diving. After all that is what the Rolex Submariner was designed for.

I am glad to see someone get the new model and do a review because I have been interested in getting the V2 but they stop selling it. I do like the cyclops that makes it a true Homage to the Sub. I am not a fan of the logo either you can get it without. They should have gave you the option to get the name or logo the only way you can get it is to do the custom logo option which you have to pay extra for. I asked them and I am not paying like $34. to advertise their name that is just plaint crazy. Thanks for the video. You have or going to do any other really good Homages reviews.

I don't get all the hate with the applied logo, I really like it. Guess I'm in the minority. I actually hated the printed font, looks really generic and ugly
I have a few blackface watches but that is my favourite of the three options for San Martin. Debating between Smurf and Hulk but I would love if they made a GMT Batman or Coke or Pepsi versions! I would buy all of them due their quality. That all said.... it needs to be applied logo on the face with similar text they have on the clasp as they have on their bronze watches. That will be a game-changer and I would buy all the version then.

The GMT would be a great thing for them, although it's a bit tricky as there is no equivalent for the NH35 on GMT movements and Chinese homages usually come with cheaper Chinese GMT movements
Just bought the black version of the SN017-G on sale and I'm looking forward to getting it soon. Also, the crowns are different depending on what colour you get! Black and blue gets the shark the green gets the $. And lastly love the hex logo and I hope it remains FOREVER! ;-)

I want to buy SM MM300 without a date, the green one, but it's not available :( I have a black Heimdallr V2 Sharkmaster, but it's black dial is not that black that I want (little "washed"), and now I want the green one. I want San Martin, because it has nicer green than Heimdallr and SM has much more better lume.

Good Review.........I prefer a Logo over the white printed letters. The Logo could use some improvement. I believe that movement needs a step up from the NH35. The clasp works and is nice but could have "on the fly" micro adjust at that price point.
I agree for the logo part. As for the upgraded movement and on the fly adjust that's a lot to ask for the price! Especially that the NH35 is usually excellent, mine is running within COSC on all my San Martins. Maybe the on the fly adjustment can be eventually incorporated... we should ask San Martin 😁

Man, I’m still torn if I want V2 (with the plain text) or the V3 (with the applied hex logo). I would have preferred applied San Martin text as they do on some of their other watches, but you can’t have it all.
Any advice on which to get? Waiting for their summer sale on June 21.
I would go for the V2 personnally. I believe that on this model the hex logo doesn't work too well.

@@Horologique I think San Martin put in a good effort to establish a logo. I guess it’s just the hexagonal shape that is throwing me off. It makes the sub homage look kind of cartoonish.
I wonder if their V5 will have the applied San Martin logo then!
There might not be a V5, as they have gone with their homage to the 2020 Subs with the PT5000 and the SW200, but those are significantly more expensive.

For my taste the blue bezel is a little bit too bright and I agree about the numerals being a little too bold however I am a fan of green and blue dials and this sunburst dial looks fantastic! Btw I hope I’m not partially responsible for the logo change, I’ve also made comments on other channels about how I didn’t like the original San Martin font but not completely convinced by the new logo either! Nevertheless fantastic watch for the money! Enjoy 😀
Thank you very much for your nice comment! The green is the favourite for me, and now with the Hulk and Smurf Rolex being discontinued, this make more and more sense! They got it a bit wrong on the bezel insert but the applied logo is subject for debate, many in the comments love it!
Chinese watches are really amazing offerings good quality and amazing price. Where can u buy Japanese NH 36 movement, sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel, and solid 316L stainless steel bracelet for less than $200. I bought 7 of them in different styles ( Pagani Design and San Martin). One for each outfit and different occasions. Very happy with my purchases.
Totally, especially the offerings from San Martin were an eye opener for me :)

Wonderful! Yes, Seiko and I believe now Orient use their proprietor Lumibrite technology which is wonderful as well. All my Seikos, especially the Monster, shine like torches ☀️

which do you think is better the san martin submariner or the seiko sea urchin?
They are totally different watches. The San Martin Sub is a homage, the Sea Urchin is an original design. On the Specs department the SM is better: NH35 hacking and hand winding versus 7s36 non hacking and non hand winding, sapphire crystal vs hardlex, ceramic bezel insert vs aluminium. Much better bracelet on the SM as well.
It all depends on what you value, originality and brand prestige or specs.

@@Horologique i see yeah in my opinion this san martin offers more bang for the buck, but i checked the sea urchin on my wrist and my wrist is like 6 and quarter i think? since i am an asian and most of asian's wrist are not that wide and i feel like the sea urchin overwhelmed my wrist, do you think this SM subby will also overwhelm on my wrist? i really like the aesthetics and specs of the san martin but i am afraid that it will overwhelm my wrist also just like the sea urchin, since i wil not have a chance to try this SM submariner first before i buy it
@@davidsonviray1403 I don't know, all I can tell you is that the important thing is the lug to lug and the Endlink to Endlink distances. The SM has a l2l of 47mm and an e2e of around 50.
Another advice, look in detail at my videos, I have a 16.5mm wrist, so not much larger than yours.

The blue looks really good. I have a V1 Hulk and I much prefer the bracelet and especially clasp to the V2/V3. It just looks like a random strap code bracelet. If they would stuff a mioyta 9015 (for $100 more) and brought back the previous bracelet and clasp without the polished enter links I would bite on a second.
I never got to experience the V1 bracelet, but it does look good. You are right that this bracelet looks a bit like a strapcode one, but having owned both this is better made and prettier with that nice chamfer. If you fancy the blue you can always get it and switch bracelets with your V1.

That's a great suggestion, I wonder if other people would be interested. To my knowledge no Chinese homage brand has tried this
actually, for the average wrist, that would be a bad move, since the watch head, being heavy, will slide up or down. Happens with all my watches that have female end links.
andrei-cosmin popa pretty interesting perspective. I suppose a possible solution is to just wear it a little tighter so it doesn’t slide around as much, but still a valid point.

There is such thing as the perfect Watch its all subjective to the individual.
I think the Rolex submariner is the perfect watch, not far behind the Cronos and the San Martin.
I have handled all 3 thats perfection.
Thanks for the great video. I have two of the V2, and there seems to be variations between cyclops magnification, bezel resistance, movement accuracy, and crown-thread smoothness. But overall great watches. I also agree with you about hex logo, I’d rather see applied SanMartin logo.

@@Othusdragonreviews Absolutely they are among my favorites. Anything SanMartin makes will generally speaking be high quality and well reviewed on UA-cam by watch community. As far as AliExpress goes, SanMartin and Cronos (formerly LugYou) are good consistent quality manufacturers.

Hey Neil, thank you very much, you were the one to let me know! I pressured SM to manufacture and send the watch to me ASAP! In order to get it quick I ordered via DHL, but unless you are in a hurry I don't recommend it. I paid 20 euros for shipping and 33 extra for customs in France, but I was in a hurry to be the first to review it 😁.

In V1 and V2 the Indices were a little bit creamy, not clear white, seems they changed it to more white, isn´t it? On Ali pics the crown isn´t signed already, hope they all get the signed crown...

I don't agree, caps lock font San Martin logo printed on the dial looks just cheap, cheap in a bad way. There is something odd about this font, size and place on the dial. Applied logo pops, it shimmers in the light. I think that new versions of San Martin watches with applied 3d logo would be great sellers.
Then this is the watch for you 😊. I agree that an applied logo is better, I'm only not a fan of their logo.
you've missed the bezel edge cutting. It's quite different from the v2

As usual buy the seller! If you have a choice take a shipment coming from Europe or close to where you live. I myself have had no trouble, but you never know
If they could engrave san martin all around the chapter ring that would be dope. A drawback is definitely fatter numerals on the bezel, v2 looks much cleaner and crisper. Which is the reason why I havnt picked up a pagani gmt numerals are fat and inconsistent. So waiting on the san martin version, hope they don't fudge that bezel up.
The engraving would be wicked, Heimdallr are the only ones to do it from what I know. As for the fat numerals, yes, they should have stuck to the thinner ones of the V2

Horologique I think the Hulk homages comparison is interesting too. But a comparison between San Martin and the Tisell Marine Diver would be really unique. There is currently no video on UA-cam comparing these two similarly priced homages.
Horologique I know such a comparison video would definitely help me (and probably a few other consumers to) in deciding whether to get the San Martin or the Tisell.

I have not felt this but for the clasp when you close it, it can pinch your skin indeed.
Where would you say it's sharp, the end of the lugs, the clasp ?
@@Horologique It was shark at the end of the clasp, the edges of the band, and the watch itself where it touches the arm. You can say that most of the parts that touch the arm were sharp. So it was not nice to wear it. I have differnt watches from Rolex to Pagani and never made that experience before.

Very good review. The watch looks amazing. Personally, I prefer a logo on the watch dial because, I understand as a collector, logos change over the years so they are a good indication of when a watch was manufactured.

Once i see it on Amazon, i will get. I really don't want to pay the extra import tax.
If you get it through normal courrier you won't get any import duties (I've bought many watches from Ali express and normal courrier never gets import tax). If you end up getting it though DHL or other fast delivery options you will always get the tax and an administration fee, I had to pay 35 euros extra in all.

They did!! But they keep iterating I believe, improving and changing things here and there, although I believe there's as much difference between this and the V2 than between the V1 and the V2. Are we looking at a V4 for October 😂?

Heimdallr is not at all the best option of the 2. I have the SM Hulk and absolutely love it. I compared both in one of my videos:

@@Horologique from what I've read on forum both watches being manufactured from same factory, I would assume quality wise they both the same, and I contacted heimdallr seller today and they told be the current one is improved version that they have addressed the bezel rotation issue.
What out me off with SM is the brand name...
They told me the same, I have this "newer" version and I can assure you they haven't addressed the rotation issue. Plus the bracelet is inferior with push pins and the clasp is partially pressed. Don't hesitate to check my review of the Heimdallr, I go through all this in great detail 👍

Keep in mind that during the review two studio lights are projecting onto the watch. But yes, it's not a dull blue, as you can see more of a royal blue, I like it 😎

Wouldn't call it a review. First impresions after unboxing. Not a single word about sharp edges of every possible part of the watch. Sharp unpleasant crown. However, you can say it only after wearing it for a few days.

You should ask yourself,, does the Chinese company pronounce "san martin" that way? I don't think so. It seemed a little ridiculous to me to force that heavy accent onto the name . Just a small criticism, otherwise a decent review... 👍
1 ) the holes on the side of the buckle make it looks cheap.
2) the color of the engrave on bezel should be silver.
