Alright, I’ve watched a bunch of these, and I finally just need to comment - these are the BEST bass demos that exist. The “one plays while the other turns the knobs” routine really takes us through so many of the possible tones. Plus, they don’t shy away from the pick, and keep the slap demo to a tasteful minimum. Keep it up - you guys do a great job!
Totally agree. I hate nothing more than a bass review where they don't adjust anything or play some muted bass line. These guys let you know the full range of the bass and play in styles most of us will play in
I know Andertons like to "poke fun" at the model names Ibanez give their instruments, but the model names aren't some secret code; once you understand their naming scheme, any instrument makes relative sense. The prefix is always the model code which includes the body shape and standard specifications (AZ, RG, SR, BTB, EHB); traditionally, the series the instrument falls under comes after (unless it's a limited edition, like the SR5FMDX). The higher the number, the more "premium" the instrument. The ending number denotes the string count. "0" is used for 6 string guitars and 4 string basses, any other number is the special string count (e.g.: "5" string bass, "8" string guitar). The ending suffix is any special details, "MS" meaning "Multi-Scale." Some woods are used under this scheme as well like "FM" meaning "Flamed Maple," "PB" meaning "Poplar Burl," etc.
Glad to finally see a proper demo of these basses, especially that BTB 805. Most videos use distortion/fuzz and don’t show the actual tones you can get. The T1 pickups sound better than the bartolinis to me. I’ve had my eye on the BTB for a while, but that 6-string EHB with the T1’s sounds awesome too. Well done, gents 👏
I think the headless models continue the 34-35.5” scale while the btb goes all the way to 37” right inline with the ding wall territory. The pickups seem very interesting to me. Probably gonna have to wait until next year for a parallel, series, single switch. Which could really push it into that hyper modern class.
@@mrwagner01 once that switch comes out I do t think I’ll want another bass haha, currently have a V3 5st and a M7 5st but I tried an Ibanez SR1405E and I’m really interested in picking up an SR now, but the BTB seems really nice.
@@saxophite1333 I used to play the SR500 back in the day “2012-2015” sold it to the bass player that replaced me in the band. And now. That same bass belongs to my little brother who’s playing gigs every weekend with it. The sr models have a very fast and light feel to them and a solid tone. But I think for those looking to go beyond drop C tuning the longer scale is a clear choice. We can always do our own mods if we can read a schematic or know a good luthier.
The bass player in my band has been playing the BTB805ms the past few weeks, and I can vouch it is an excellent bass and it feels nice to play, even for it's long scale. He was playing a Dingwall Combustion 4 string and the BTB stands well against it. Mostly got it because we needed the extra range, and maybe it helps that our band's initials happen to be "BTB" lol.
I thought the multiscale benefit was more to do with string tension rather than ergonomics for your fingers. So that the lower note strings aren’t so floppy, especially when tuning down, which is why the low B string has the longest scale length. Edit: Nvm, Nathan covers that point on the EHB
What's the weight of the 5 string BTB? My spine is fucked and if it's too heavy I'll satisfy my GAS now rather than waiting for release date of the new ones.
Top content as always but I want to tell you that the audio on my side is really messy, voices are too loud, Nathan's playing too low, is it only my device? Don't think so, but you guys rock!
the only problem i have with this bass is there's no coated string that can accomodate that scale, far as i know. non-coated strings die quickly here in my country which is why i always use elixirs.
can't decide between the SR5MDX and the EHB1265MS. it's gonna be my first 5 string but is multiscale ok for beginners? everyone says you gonna be alright after 10 minutes but it seems so intimidating
I wish people doing these reviews would play on the B string above the 5th fret. Or around the 12th-15th fret even better. Also talk about what it’s like to play chords on a multi-scale above the 12th fret. Also the older guy’s non stop attempts at comedy is awkward and tiring. He doesn’t support the younger guy when he speaks, he just lets the younger guy support him, which the younger guy does at every turn. Thank you for the video though. Answered a couple questions.
All BTB's are heavy as f... and on the EHB's the offest dot inlays is a terrible idea, as well as the Neutrik locking jack. Apart from that, the EHB's are way more fun to play than the BTB's, but maybe it's me being to old for them.
My favorite thing about the upper end SR series is the string spacing. It’s so thin and easy to play. It’s not really any different from my jazz bass. Least favorite thing about all Ibanez basses is they continue using their own shitty eq.

Shows the range of both instruments. That btb range of times for the price!!!!

Thank you. I feel like almost every video review of an ibanez on youtube has to beat the dead horse for whatever reason and it’s getting a bit old.
Battery compartments on the BTBs are angled so they fit between the angled pickups.
I’ve been waiting months for someone to do a good deep dive on these new multi scale BTB basses. Bravo gentleman
I own 2 BTB basses and I can say with extreme confidence that they are one of the most versatile basses I've ever played.
Hello! What about the neck dive in this model when you play it standing up? It looks stable...
I'm liking the sound of the new Ibanez pickups more than the Bartolinis. They sound clearer and punchier to me while having a little bite.
22:44 - The BTBMS is fanned 37"-35", the EHB is fanned 35"-33"

Would like to see a comparison vid between the new BTB vs a Dingwall where the new updates are clearly aimed to be inspired by.

Does your band have any videos on UA-cam?
Really wanted a good review on these and I am SOOO glad it is done by you two. My hero’s
I don't think any brand makes more reliable and well priced mass market basses than Ibanez. And they're always experimenting and doing something new.
That’s the best introduction to a review I’ve ever heard. Blood brilliant. I love the emerald green bass it’s really cool. Thanks guys 🎼👍
the BTB is one killer bass, both sonic and visual 😵💫
That multiscale BTB sounds monstrous. Love it.
As always such flavor packed bass descriptions. They can have their cake and slap it too.
I've never liked SR basses, but OOOOH that BTB is gorgeous!
Great sounding guitars but let's be honest, these guys could make a rubber band on a pencil sound fantastic!
In additshon to the 7&8STRING THOSE BAYSES SOWND FANTASTIC,THE TONE AND VOLUM DIALS DO WORK,JUST SAYIN,❤❤❤
This its the best video on the youtube for presentation on this bass here have the full potential on this model bass
The bass that made Nathan take his glasses off like a dozen times 😂🔥🔥🔥

That EHB1006MS sounds real good! It's a wildly different design from my current basses...but that sounds like a great excuse for buying another bass 😁
Always a blast, lads. Thank you.
13:31 min. The best sound

I've never tried a Ibanez bass because I never liked the head stock ,but that black bass looks cool
Yeah yeah yeah!! Bass video!
Hello! Someone could give me an idea about the neck dive in this Ibanez model when you play it standing up? It looks stable...

Top content as always but I want to tell you that the audio on my side is really messy, voices are too loud, Nathan's playing too low, is it only my device? Don't think so, but you guys rock!
Sorry, druns too loud not voices
Man There is northing wrong with a Good old SR . Sounds great ,looks great , plays great . I have "moved on from them " but I need another one ....
My biggest gripe with the Ibanez made pickups is you can't replace pickups without routing the body
Never liked the looks of them but that btb when it's holding the rhythm in that intro, I could put up with the looks of it for that tone.
the only problem i have with this bass is there's no coated string that can accomodate that scale, far as i know. non-coated strings die quickly here in my country which is why i always use elixirs.
On the initial minute and a half, I can't help but feel like the BTB is the star of the show. I can barely hear the SDGR lol
I’ll definitely be getting the BTB805 first chance I get. And maybe the SR too
Love Ibanez basses. Company does it right.
Love your reviews, keep up your amazing work guys!! ❤️👍👍👍
Question like all Ibanez bass are different height
I miss those two, it was just like guys hanging out and talking gear 😢
Wow, Ibanezes sound so growly 👍 ...and for what price
Certainly giving the cans a workout. Love ya work.
Does anyone knows what are the dimensions of these T1 pickups?
Can anyone so kindly tell me the model name of the first bass they showed. I'm so buying it next year
Btb805
Thanks boys!
Please tell me there is a new ashula😲👍🏿
MS - MultiScale
can't decide between the SR5MDX and the EHB1265MS. it's gonna be my first 5 string but is multiscale ok for beginners? everyone says you gonna be alright after 10 minutes but it seems so intimidating
Multi scale might actually be really helpful for beginners. It'll be easier to hit the higher notes on it thanks to the Frey's being turnt like that
When I tried a Dingwall I couldn't notice any difference in the feel when I wasn't looking. It took me zero adaptation so you will be fine trust me.
Thanks guys !
You changed places, l got confused Lathan & Nee ! The knights that say Nee !
that was some nice sycopation
Green bass in the intro was way too soft
I got the BTB805 on order but every video with it there seems to be a lot of fret buzz. Is that a multiscale thing?
That's a "need of intonation adjustment" noise.
You mixed up the ehb1265ms and 1006ms

Ibanez basses are not my thing .. they’re great though… I just watch because of these 2 crazy dudes hanging out !!!

Two grown men twiddling with each others knobs! 😜😂🇬🇧Lol

The BTB is the best for metal playing has the look and tone, ask me how i know. Lol
with they did more slap
Cool
Headless Chickens, NZ band.
1400€ now
Nathan & Lee, MD stands for Multiscale😡😡😡
Where are the new Strandberg basses...Ibanez is kicking you know what....
Wish the black bass was a 4 string, 5 strings just look really weird to me
There’s a 6 string too lol
I went back to bass, thank god ,my git’s are pissed, too bad ladies.Tired of the hype I’m 71 🤣🤣🤣👍🏿 10 yr old kids playing srv
Barely hear the soundgear
Drum machine way too loud, poor Nathan!

Wow, those things sound like crap. They look nice and seem to have decent specs but they all seem to sound thin and have no character or depth. Yuck.
