As a BTB1205 owner, always loved the BTB's 35" scale low B tone. But that 37" low B is just another world. It sounds like a f...... piano. I need a BTB805MS!
I have the T1 pickups in my EHB1006MS and they are by far some of the best pickups made to date. They are so versatile you can get EMG clean, Ken Smith (Peavey Cirrus) bell tone, and even P-Bass tones from them. Simply amazing!!!
I've had my eye on this one for a while. I've had a BTB but it had Bart pups and after sometime I've come to just not gel with Barts. They sound kind of hollow, almost soulless I liked that Ibanez went with different pups for this one. That thing is Warwick levels of gorgeous! Holy moly! I've been thinking about this one or a Spector. I'd probably like a Spector more since I'm a Warwick fanboy and they both sound fairly similar.
I ordered the Ibanez BTB 806 MS through zzsounds ( I use them exclusively great company) coming in March ( back ordered) can't wait!! Thanks for the sound review! Awesome channel!!
I just got a 5-string one used for $1,000 and it's amazing! When looking around I initially passed up Ibanez but eventually found this one after trying a BTB745 in person and falling in love with it because of how amazing the neck felt. Now I am considering getting a Premium SR because I want a 4-string with tight string spacing and can handle C-Standard.
I love how Ibanez make Boutique w/ top tier popular electronics and wood for their basses at the correct reasonable price. All those other boutique basses like Fodera, F-Bass, and Specter sell at a ridiculously high scamming price. Fender basses doesn’t even run that high unless it’s an antique
I own Ibanez’s Cerulean blue BTB-605MS 5-string multiscale bass and was hesitant about ordering it because of the T1 pickups since they are kind of an unknown quantity and effectively impossible to upgrade due to the unusual shape. But now that I have the bass, I love it and think the pickups and preamp sound great. They sound very similar to the much pricier Aguilar 5J HC / 5M AG / OBP-3 setup on my ESP BB-1005QM bass.
I got myself an Srms806 just around a month before this was announced, I kind of wish I had waited a bit more. Well , hopefully in a not so far future I'll be getting one. Great video!
Yeah I feel kinda the same way. I just got my srms806 last year..... and then like 5 or 6 months after Ibanez announced they were releasing these this year lol
Similar here. Got my SRMS806 in 2020 and thought to myself, "Watch Ibanez release a BTB multi scale to piss me off"...then they did. And I finally just ordered one today.
@@kharybaker868 Yeahhhhh I think I may end up getting the btb805ms like next year.... I swapped the Bart bh2s for US Bart classics and the preamp for a Bart ntmb+f and added switches for series/single/parallel for both pups in my srms806 so I've been thoroughly enjoying it for now lol
@@Zakkunie I modded my srms806 similar to yours; Nordstrand Audio Zen Blades with Audere 4 band Pro Z plus two dpdt switches for parallel/single/series(sounds so good now)...and I got the btb806ms about 3 weeks ago! Get the btb805ms, I guarantee that you won't be disappointed!

That's the only thing that sort of puts me off a little bit, because if I don't like them then I don't think there's any replacements, as of right now anyway... I just like having plenty of hi mids and treble because it can always be taken out easier than it can be put in lol
Killer bass 😎🤘🏻🎸 normally I’m a 5-string player and I have tried and owned out 6-string basses before. I would like to get this if I ever wanted to add a new 6-string bass to my arsenal
saving up for this bass and this video just made me drool more. just wondering if i can handle its overall length haha I had a btb1906 before and that was already a bit of stretch for me. i can't imagine having 2 more inches in the scale haha
it looks like the first three frets are the widest after that the frets are practically parelell. so the 1-4 would the the toughest strech and any higher up it would be just like your other bass. and thats only for the low b-e the other 4 strings are practically 35inch scale
The big triangular area of fretboard past the nut kinda bugs me, i understand not working out the angles for the headstock chamfer to match the nut angle probably saves some money but if they can make the fretboard transition to the body look pretty i'd expect the same at the headstock, its just really offputting
@@pat8437 that’s what I was thinking. I think I’ll get the BTB605MS because it’s cheaper then file the nut and put some thicker strings to tune down to G.
Looks awesome, buttt as good as those pickups seem, I don't like the inability to swap out pickups if you wanted (not saying I really would)... Ibanez lines have been really short lived lately, so it's not like other pickup manufacturers are going to cater to these. I guess what I'm saying is just with Ibanez they seem to be locking you in, which is find if you like what comes stock. If I had the spare cash I'd probably invest in one of these. Though would be nice to know how it would handle lower tunings like G# or F# etc.
@@jackdanielholt-ellison8658 i played a dingwall back to back with the btb805ms and i actually much preferred the ibanez the dingwall didnt come close in my opinion
I played one of these in a Sam Ash recently. Great build quality, playability etc, pickups were a deal breaker. Way mid scooped, very vague and flat tonal presentation. Basically it's a metal unitasker bass, IMO.
had a btb 456 with the bart mk1's. $200 in a pawn shop sold it ,it was replaced by a gibson eb5. you should see my gibson lpb-2 amber. (beautiful bass).
Man the 0 fret is pretty unique i have never seen that before. I like it but 37"-35" scale is a bit long for me unless i was going to downtune this thing. A 35" c string isnt right in my opinion.
It has a switch to bypass the battery powered preamp. It'll work without a battery but only volume, pickup blend and passive tone on the first half turn of the treble knob would be used.
You’ll hate me for this, the bass has the looks and all, but I just can’t like the sound at all…it’s kinda lifeless and dead unlike maybe a Spector NS Dimension or even the earlier Multiscale Ibanezes (ibani?) from 2017-2018.

I don't see a lefty version anywhere online
does it have active/passive switch? or is always active? and in that case, can i play it even without 9v battery inserted?
The pickups are passive and the eq can be turned off from the switch, he talks about this around five minutes in

That Low B is way too floppy especially for being a multiscale.
It's less floppy irl. The floppy is an effect from the camera
Seems like a pretty wobbly B string for that scale. My 35" btbs string doesnt move that much ^^
Downtuned maybe? Also shutter speed of the camera will effect "wobbliness"
that's almost definitely from the high shutter speed - for extra drama =0)
