Facts. I keep my mouth shut, for the most part, except for a few recommendations. Although, it’s always a given that PTX will find a way to “wow” us in every track.
Absolutely. Warnings are not allowed. That way we can enjoy the genuine reactions and know that the reactors are just as blown away as we were when we first watched it.😁🥰
Todrick is from Arlington, Texas, where the Pentatonix "trio" also grew up. They may have met in musical productions but he is seven years older than them. He's a dancer, choreographer, singer, songwriter, etc. He is obsessed with "The Wizard of Qz" and spent years putting together songs for this video. He also did a 2016 album called "Straight Otta Oz" with Oz-based songs that are also auto-biographical. The album generated a world tour, a video and a documentary. The PTX trio did a song / video with him for the extended version of the album called "Black and White" about his school days. Todrick has done Broadway, choreographed for TV and Disney and appeared in TV reality shows including America's Got Talent and Big Brother.
Matt. You have such a great sense of humor I think you will love Toddricks spoof of Pentatonix. Called Pentatoddricks. You can watch Mitch and Scott watch it on Superfruit. It’s hilarious. Toddy filmed himself as all of them So so funny
Kirstie has a full length version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow you should hear. Todrick is a singer, dancer, choreographer, rapper, song writer, producer. He was in season 10 of American Idol, has done Broadway, choreography for Beyonce, and worked extensively with RuPaul, as well as producing his own music and touring.
yes, reaction to Kirsties's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". It is on her channel. ua-cam.com/video/J_Y-b27Th1c/v-deo.html Also Pentatonix did the same song (only official audio), but not as magical as her solo live performance.
This is what is now referred to as a jukebox musical. Basically taking a movie or other story and telling it with pop music. Moulin Rouge is on Broadway now, I think Rock of Ages was one of the first.
YES! I've been waiting for you to do this one. It's absolutely stunning. Todrick Hall is a creative genius - from costuming to makeup, concept to choreography, this man does it ALL.
Hey Matt! My all time fav Pentatonic song is their cover of “Can’t Help Falling In Love”. It’s absolutely gorgeous and Mitch is completely angelic. Please check it out!
I'm sooo glad you apprieciated that little segment of Kirstie singing with no background harmonies! Her voice sounds so sweet and clear:) There's a reason she's always been my favorite... :P
Ok, I got a cople of things to say. First, the shirt idea, love it. "I hope I like this" on the front, and "I hope you like it too." Now you gotta set up the merch area where we can get this!! Second, I did warn you. Found the comment where I said "The Wizzard of Ahhhs, with Todrick Hall is totally awesome!" Great Reaction! Thank you. 😁😁😎
So fun to watch this with u! I can’t tell u how many reactors I’ve watched who have no clue that this is the story of the Wizard of Oz with modern songs 🙄
I was so enamored with this song that i transcribed the lyrics to see just how many songs they used. Time tags in the original video 0:00 Somewhere Over the Rainbow [Dorothy] 0:36 Blown Away - Carrie Underwood [Pentatonix] 0:50 Wide Awake - Katy Perry [Dorothy] 1:10 Lollipop - Chordettes [Munchkins] 1:23 Shoes - Liam Kyle [Glinda the Good] 1:26 Short D*ck Man - 1:36 Cups - Anna Kendrick (originally by Lulu and The Lampshades) [Dorothy] 1:55 Thinking About You - Frank Ocean [Scarecrow] 2:25 Damaged - Danity Kane [Tin Man / Pentatonix] 2:58 Can't Be Tamed - Miley Cyrus [Cowardly Lion] 3:06 I Knew You Were Trouble - Taylor Swift [Dorothy] 3:20 Power - Kanye West (the line '21st century Schizoid Man' was originally from the song 21st Century Schizoid Man by King Crimson) [Wizard Todrick Hall / Pentatonix] 4:00 Teeth - Lady Gaga [Wicked Witch / Pentatonix] 4:32 Home Sweet Home - Motley Crue [Dorothy / cast] 4:53 Home - Daughtry [Wizard / cast] 5:22 Home - Michael Buble [Cowardly Lion / cast]
So great to see you appreciate the genius of this one. Obviously, it's based on the 1939 Wizard of Oz movie with Judy Garland, which is ancient history. Kirstie, Scott and Mitch all did musical theatre in high school, so it's part of their wheelhouse, but it's unusual to find a reactor that's familiar with the story and understands the links, from the portraits in the opening credits to the click of the red shoes at the end. The way they wove in all the modern songs is brilliant! Personally, I love Kevin as Toto, the Munchkins, Kirstie as the Wicked Witch of the West, Mitch as the Tin Man, and of course, Avi as the Cowardly Lion. Todrick makes a pretty slick wizard, too! Totally loved your reaction! Subbing...
I saw someone post, "my fav PTX video is the one I'm watching, my fav PTX song is the one I'm listening to, and my favorite singer is the one that's singing right now". So accurate for a lot of us. 🥰🥰
Oh Matt, I keep telling you, no more warnings! 😁 Wow, this one even got you out of your chair!! Loved your reaction. FYI, your volume has been much better the past few videos I've seen.
Toddrick grew up with the Texas trio and continued on with some of them to Broadway. He was in a production of Kinky Boots among others and does another video with the Texas Trio called Black and White!!
Todrick is awesome!!! Thanks for getting to this!! Its one of my all time favorites!! Todrick is SUPER CREATIVE & Talented and he ADORES the Wizard of Oz!!!😃the fact that he got PTX to feature was a genius choice. And since they're from the same area as Scott,Mitch,& Kirstin it makes perfect sense that he would colab with them. thanks again for the great reaction.✌out.
So much fun!! It always blows my mind how reactors don’t get that this is Wizard of Oz with current song clips to tell the story! Good job understanding that almost immediately!! Now it’s time for Love Again…🙏🏻👏🏻🎉👍🏻🔥🤯🎶🦄 (and then My Favorite Things for another SUPER creative video) 💜
The look on your face the moment you realized that different songs would be used to tell the story. Priceless. I knew you'd immediately get it because of your deep knowledge of so many different kinds of music! THAT Made my day! I can't tell you how excited I was when I saw you were reacting to this in particular. I am not disappointed. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You are loved and appreciated today too....
You are one of the few reactors that get the purpose of this video right away. Toddrick produced this and chose the perfect songs for each character... Scott with his brain...thinking about you... Mitch with no heart... damaged...etc.... Just so amazing!!!!!
I knew you would appreciate this one! A whole lot of of wonderful right here! Todrick was friends with Scott, Mitch and Kirsty in high school. When his dream finally flourished into the Wizard of Ahhh's, he called on PTX to help perfect his production. Outstanding performance!! Kirsty, as well as the rest, did an awesome job. I also appreciated your reaction. Your excitement is so contagious! It gives me delight to see others enjoy PTX as much as the Pentaholics do. Well done! Thanks for sharing with us.
Kirstie was just 2 months past her 21st birthday when Todrick posted this video. We have "Mitch-slapped" and "Avi-lanched"; what do we call it when Kirstin blows us away?
That was an epic production wasnt it? Very professionally put together. I loved how the songs exactly fitted the scenes and the costumes were fabulous. I want those shoes!
Thank you for your reaction to this!! Your reactions are always so fun and entertaining. I would definitely do the behind the scenes that was suggested. You may also want to check out Todrick's video where he tries to do PTX Daft Punk. It's another good one (the only warning you get). 😉
Todrick is a genius just like PTX... if you want to see his talent or dive into his "rabbit hole" check out his '4 the 2000's ' video. its as mind blowing as some of ptx's but he's not acapella..still amazingly impressive.
Your intro comments about being loved and needing to here that everyday Is so on the money.... I spent years not having that and it messes with peoples head. So I thank you for caring enough to say what many never here 😍😍😍😍
Todrick Hall is a brilliant creator. When he pulled Superfruit (and Kirstie) in to make "Black and White" (a video I see being recommended lots and lots in this comment stream and I'll just add to that recommendation. It's not only awesome, musically, but it's got a message that pretty much kicks you in the face, but it's so fabulously done you LIKE it), *ahem* as I started to say, I checked out his channel and I want to also recommend pretty much ANYTHING off his "Straight Outta Oz" video album. Every song has some string connecting it to the story of Oz, even if it's only the name of the song, but every last one of them is brilliant, if sometimes uncomfortable. "Water Colors" makes me cry, as does "Over the Rainbow, for completely different reasons. "Dumb" is a fantastic rap (and I don't even LIKE rap, but I love this) featuring the scarecrow, and is a rather amazing stab at the music industry, as is "Pappi," which has vocals you cannot BELIEVE. I've probably watched/listened to "Lyin' To Myself" four or five dozen times. So - forever and always a Pentaholic, but I would have no objection to having you check out a few of Todrick's tracks. :)
Loved your reaction to this song/medley. All the songs seemed so appropriate in telling the story. If you liked Todrick Hall, please check out another one he did with some of Pentatonix, thing it was Scott, Kirstie and Mitch called Black and White. Think you would like it and it has a bit of a story too.😊

Please, please also review Todrick Hall's original song, BLACK & WHITE, which the trio of Scott, Mitch and Kirstie are featured in. It's a fabulous number in every way, the dancing, the singing, the song and especially the lyrics. Ya gotta do it! Please!
Great reaction 👏. They did an amazing job and payed tribute to the original Wizard of Oz, it was crazy! If you haven't checked out My Favorite Things, please do. It'll blow your mind like this one did.
Todrick Hall featuring Superfruit plus Kirstie (in other words 3/5th of PTX) has another great song called "Black & White", no relation to the Michael Jackson song, but just as profound. Give it a listen.
And you weren't initially sure you wanted to check out Pentatonix. But we Pentaholics knew better. Obviously you are so glad that you listened to us!!! Pentaholics won't steer you wrong!!

@@vidsorama2 You're welcome. I just noticed that the Starbucks video is an early recording of Mitch, Kirstin, and Scott singing the same words simultaneously. Some people are amazed that they can do it at all and here they are, doing it as teenagers.
I think that this is my favorite of Pentatonix’s performances so far. I’m a bit ashamed to admit that I didn’t know Todrick Hall before now. The things I learn from your videos! 👍 Also, I came across another a cappella performer whose voice amazes me. His name is Peter Hollens and he does the old folk song “Loch Lomond (You Take the High Road and I’ll Take the Low Road)” so magnificently. I hope you get a chance to hear him! Here’s the link to his rendition: ua-cam.com/video/p0KQLJwMDzc/v-deo.html Please keep doing what you do. Your videos truly do give me a lift every day! ❤️
OMG yes Peter Hollens rabbit hole a definite recommend. He has songs with with Home Free, Avi and the voice actor Brian Hull - voice of Drac in Transalvania 4 - and much, much more
So, so ready to watch this! I’ve been anxiously waiting for you to see it! Hoping you watched the Wizard of Oz growing up. It was on TV every year when I was growing up (there was no streaming or cable in those “olden days”) 😂 Matt, speaking of Carrie Underwood, there is an AMAZING video of Carrie Underwood rocking out live to “Paradise” by Guns and Roses. ua-cam.com/video/XWK_FR0umww/v-deo.html You would love it. There are also another couple of her singing WITH Steven Tyler from Aerosmith.
If you enjoyed this then you should really react to Todrick's "Peter Perry" it has the some production values as this one and re-tells the entire story of Peter Pan, with a Todrick twist. No Pentatonix on that one...but well worth your time.
Matt here is one from the archives, Somewhere around 1987/88 give or take a year, I don't remember, Sir Mix a lot, Buttermilk Biscuits. I got a feeling you like buttermilk biscuits. HAHA. ua-cam.com/video/4jvVCJp429A/v-deo.html He had a bunch of hits over a couple albums, none mainstream. I'll send you a few more as you do them.
I am digging through your PTX reactions belatedly so I'm not sure if this was mentioned, but PTX revisited the "Home" medley in a way on their 2020 ep that was recorded during lockdown. It's kind of short but fun ua-cam.com/video/9xE9q7iW7Q0/v-deo.html
I'm going to be honest and I'm sure it won't be popular but to me, this was your worst reaction! You paused at every song transition and talked! You can react without speaking you know....or listen with us and then talk about it! That's how reaction videos first started out and then the reactors started thinking that we, or maybe I should say I, am more interested in their opinions than hearing the song! No! I want to live vicariously through you as you watch and hear an amazing production for the first time since my first time listening was so long ago! Nothing wrong with pausing but come on man...I didn't enjoy listening to this one bit! I'm so glad you didn't do this with the 90's dance medley!
Only after watching this did I realize I got out of my chair hahaha
I think it's against Pentaholic rules to warn reviewers. Watching the shock, awe, surprise is just too much fun.
I agree completely.
😂🤣
Facts. I keep my mouth shut, for the most part, except for a few recommendations. Although, it’s always a given that PTX will find a way to “wow” us in every track.
Absolutely. Warnings are not allowed. That way we can enjoy the genuine reactions and know that the reactors are just as blown away as we were when we first watched it.😁🥰
Yep, definitely!
You need to react to Todrick w/Scott, Mitch, & Kirstie doing Black & White! Amazing, fun song with a powerful message that still resonates today.
You really should check out Love again you will love it!

I LOVE Black and White!!!
There is also a behind the scenes for this. The song choice and arranging for this is ahhhhsome!
Todrick's Black and White has Scott, Mitch and Kirstin in it too
Recommend their My Favorite Things.
Mr. Hall is a remarkable talent indeed!🥰

Love this🥰
Hands down this is the best reaction ever to this video!
Todrick is a creative genius! On top of being an extremely talented singer, dance, actor, etc.
You really got into that one!
YES! I've been waiting for you to do this one. It's absolutely stunning. Todrick Hall is a creative genius - from costuming to makeup, concept to choreography, this man does it ALL.

I think he liked it! Classic PTX is the best!
By far my favorite reaction to this.
That was a production. Glad you liked it.
The Lollipop Guild costumes and makeup may not be their best look (and I agree with you on that), but it *is* their funniest look.
Loved this!!!
I'm SO GLAD YOU DID THIS ONE!! (I suggested it to you...). IT"S spectacular. :)
I just discovered that all my life I've been wishing Dorothy had a side smile.
Please, please also review Todrick Hall's original song, BLACK & WHITE, which the trio of Scott, Mitch and Kirstie are featured in. It's a fabulous number in every way, the dancing, the singing, the song and especially the lyrics. Ya gotta do it! Please!
Kevin is Toto!
Great reaction! Home Sweet Home was from Motley Crew.
Welcome to the mind of Todrick Hall. Strap in (double down) when you check out his work. Wigs will be split and edges snatched.
Great reaction 👏. They did an amazing job and payed tribute to the original Wizard of Oz, it was crazy! If you haven't checked out My Favorite Things, please do. It'll blow your mind like this one did.
Warning ruins the fun 😁
You my friend are also amazing and loved!
Todrick Hall featuring Superfruit plus Kirstie (in other words 3/5th of PTX) has another great song called "Black & White", no relation to the Michael Jackson song, but just as profound. Give it a listen.
I love your reactions
Ha! Ha! I feel sure you say every Pentatonix song is your favourite 😇.
You should check out Black and White that Todrick Hall did with Superfruit and Kirsten, and the behind the scenes to that video!
Yeah! Thats Home from Bublé 😍
And you weren't initially sure you wanted to check out Pentatonix. But we Pentaholics knew better. Obviously you are so glad that you listened to us!!! Pentaholics won't steer you wrong!!
your mic is perfect. I hear you loud and clear
Todrick came in HOT and kicked Matt out of his chair!
And it gets better...

PTX and Todrick flash mob: ua-cam.com/video/CXJPOy25J8M/v-deo.html
(you want to see Kirstin dancing in a men's room, don't you?)
Just watch them for fun
@@vidsorama2 You're welcome. I just noticed that the Starbucks video is an early recording of Mitch, Kirstin, and Scott singing the same words simultaneously. Some people are amazed that they can do it at all and here they are, doing it as teenagers.
you need to check out Black and White by Todrick and PTX
I think that this is my favorite of Pentatonix’s performances so far. I’m a bit ashamed to admit that I didn’t know Todrick Hall before now. The things I learn from your videos! 👍
Also, I came across another a cappella performer whose voice amazes me. His name is Peter Hollens and he does the old folk song “Loch Lomond (You Take the High Road and I’ll Take the Low Road)” so magnificently. I hope you get a chance to hear him!
Here’s the link to his rendition:

Please keep doing what you do. Your videos truly do give me a lift every day! ❤️
OMG yes Peter Hollens rabbit hole a definite recommend. He has songs with with Home Free, Avi and the voice actor Brian Hull - voice of Drac in Transalvania 4 - and much, much more
If you want a good laugh, you should watch Todrick's remake of PTX's Daft Punk video.
For more fun watch superfruit doing the frozen medaly if you haven't slready
So, so ready to watch this! I’ve been anxiously waiting for you to see it! Hoping you watched the Wizard of Oz growing up. It was on TV every year when I was growing up (there was no streaming or cable in those “olden days”) 😂
Matt, speaking of Carrie Underwood, there is an AMAZING video of Carrie Underwood rocking out live to “Paradise” by Guns and Roses. ua-cam.com/video/XWK_FR0umww/v-deo.html
You would love it. There are also another couple of her singing WITH Steven Tyler from Aerosmith.
And it was don acapella

Okay I know it says Todrick Hall featuring PTX but I think it's PTX featuring Todrick Hall, just my opinion.
