Testing The Predator Armor Level 3+ With Kevlar Lined Frag Mitigation Coating

- I am testing the Predator Level 3+ armor with the "Kevlar Lined Frag Mitigation" coating.
I wanted to see how this plate compared to the level 3 plate I have already tested, and also see how the Kevlar wrap protects against spalling/fragmentation.
If you want to see any calibers against this plate, drop it in the comments and I will see what I can do!
Make sure to check out my Instagram @turncoat_tactical
I love reading these comments with people thinking you’re the NIJ. You did a good job doing your OWN tests, with your OWN ammo, and what you have ON HAND. Good review in my eyes. Anyone trying to put words in your mouth can shove it.
Appreciate it!! 🙌🏼
I love that I found this channel you’re honestly gonna blow up in popularity. I can feel it! Keep it up brother!
Appreciate it!! 🙌🏼
God bless you for firing at these plates. I've been stuck on what to get and you just made up my mind. These bad boys are solid.
Real
Thank you! Stay safe!!
That armour is amazing 🤩, AP rounds and no penetration. The Kevlar definitely helps. .50 no penetration with a Desert Eagle too 😳👌
I’m more surprised about the lack of back face deformation from those AP rounds. They left a good dent on the level 3, but next to nothing on this!
@@turncoat_tactical I blame the operator 😉
@@JonCresswellUk 😂😂
@@turncoat_tactical great test mate, as usual. If sales of that armour don’t sky rocket from this I will be surprised
Awesome video! Keep up the great work.
Thanks!!
I'm definitely picking up a set.
@@matthewrivera9314 definitely a good choice!
The reason you found those penetrators down in that corner is because of the angle you had the plate. Pretty impressive they had enough force to ricochet off the steel and still rip that far through the kevlar. Cheers m8 thanks for the spectacular video!
Thanks! 🙌🏼
Just put in my order and heard about your review in the comments section of someone else's test video. Great video
Appreciate it! 🙌🏼
Can't wait for another video! Keep it up brotha.
Appreciate it!
Gonna be ordering this armor cuz of this review. Thanks
No worries! I have just been enjoying shooting them 😂🙌🏼
Corner shot of the .50 speaks much more volumes than this ap shots imo super surprised that coating held up on an edge shot keep danger levels of spall from entering the neck. Plate seems to be pretty revolutionary and reuniting the steam for steel use ..
And please find a 3A soft armor to back it that used plate and shoot it with a .338 and a 20in m855 that would seat that plate in the realm of this new “next gen ppe protection”
Hope your channel does well man. Truly. I remember watching Demo Ranch when he was less than 100k.
Thanks, mate! 🙌🏼
@@turncoat_tactical I was skeptical about those plates being $99. But seeing how small they are, makes sense in a way.
@@thesneakyapguy7172 I tested their level 3 plates as well. I have the video posted. I was really impressed with how that preformed as well!
@@turncoat_tactical yeah figured that M61 would pop through. Color me impressed.
would like to see a 6.8 spc round
Awesome video! How heavy was this plate?
@@ShadowFox1141 not very heavy. Maybe 5-7 lbs
Good job man don't pay these idiots any mind with their know it all negative comments you're very thorough sir
Much appreciated!!
I've watched videos where the 308. Black tip ripped through level 4 every time. This took at least 3 rounds that I saw and 50 cal without hardly a scratch. Am I missing something? Why doesn't everybody just use this?
@@chrisregister8021 I just think they have made an excellent product that they say is level 3+ knowing it can stop more.
Great vid. Would have been dope to see paper sheets surrounding the plate to check for spalling fragments.
It’s why I used the go pro so I could watch in slow mo.
@@turncoat_tactical it’s still SUPER hard to see all fragments. I love this video man. I’m just saying some paper surrounding the plates would help for anything we miss in the slow mo.
@@FaithCultureFreedom I can definitely see your point. I don’t think anything is coming off these plates if they take a couple of rounds. And, I wouldn’t like to think anyone would be hanging around to take any more 😂
Since it was sent to you for review its hard not wonder if its the same plate i would receive if purchased
I doubt they would randomly manufacture a special plate for me to test out. I reached out to them and they shipped me one right away. I’ve also tested a level 3 from them as well. You can see the video on my page.
If they would extend the metal shell around the Kevlar and armor plate to the back those frags would eat the carrier up so bad.
Interesting that they used kevlar to catch spalling.
Bro why did u stop uploading u had the potential to be high up as demolition ranch
Going to get back rolling this year 🙌🏼
Good vid, thanks....any feel for what the outer metal plate is? Looks like a thin layer of steel with the Kevlar sandwiched between it and the armor?
I’m not sure what the metal is. It’s clearly there to hold the Kevlar and keep a solid shape of the plate. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Great video next shoot it with a 357 sig
Thanks! I don’t think it will do much damage to be fair, but it’s something I can test.
Im ordering these plates but im curious if it stops 5.56 from a 20 in+ barrel
After shooting it with a AP 308 I would think so! I don’t know many people who buy 20inch barrel ar’s, so it’s not something I would be worried about.
@@turncoat_tactical 55.6 out of a 20inch goes faster then 308 ap most level 3 plates cant take a 20inch ar15
How many layers of Kevlar do you think were used for the frag guard?
@@rolliemiller2488 not very many. The wrap is pretty thin. It did a really good job stopping the frag 👍🏼
Shame you didn’t use a chrono to check any of those rounds.
5.7 will go through level IIIA. Not level III. There is a big difference, a lot of un-knowledgeable internet experts.
This is why I added it to this video. When I shot my level 3 test video, I had lots of people telling me that 5.7 would rip straight through! Even 5.7 ap rounds will only stand a chance against soft armor.
hey, how muchdoes that 3+ plate weigh?
why does it have a different, green cloth, outer than others on the tube?
I think if I remember they were 6-7 lbs. the outer is just a covering for the kevlar to make the plates look nice.
@@turncoat_tactical its the same thing all over. i went to the site. im sure they are great if you want to leave out a few threats. i think there are some people with M2-AP roaming around and big hunting rds arent tested much.
there is a post that they are $75. no, all the dealers give the price of the stripped down model just like cars. those plates , 10x12, will be $360 a pair and thats not bad for steel. oh and 7.5 lbs.
Where's the gopro footy?!
Rookie mistake on my part. It was not recording when I thought it was 🙈
@@turncoat_tactical oh, happens. I bought these exact plates based off this review considering it seemed sufficient enough. Plates seem pretty damn solid.
@@408lurks I can definitely say they are solid! Good choice!
@@408lurks how’s the weight of the plates and carrier when you have everything on?
@@chocbear8394 good timing as I just had my full kit on today. I have mine in a 5.11 carrier, weights less than standard ar-500 plates by a few pounds ( I believe around 2.5, to 3 lbs ). Plates have a slight contour which makes them more comfortable, but doesn't compromise the fit inside the plate carrier ( however there is a tad bit of dead space in between the corners of the plates, and the carrier due to slight incongruity of shape ). Those few pounds do feel alot lighter.
Slightly used armor for sale 😜
😂😂
BRO WEBSITE SAYS IT STOPS M193 FROM 20 BARREL BUT YALL DONT TEST IT 🤣🤣
I don’t work for, nor am I affiliated with predator armor! I tested what I wanted to test! I’m not concerned with m193 when their plates are stopping AP rounds!
@@turncoat_tactical except steel is vulnerable against m193 from 20” barrels
@@BuffRANGE I don’t know many people actively carrying a 20 inch barrels. I will get one and give it a try. 👍🏼
@@turncoat_tactical They can even be weak against a 16" barrel. Velocity matters a LOT.
@@BuffRANGE I understand that. But there level 3 stopped so many different rounds that a typical level 3 doesn’t that I would definitely not be worried with these level 3 plus!
Mate ! How’s living in the land of freedom ? Cause England…well…it isn’t lmao
Mate, living the dream! 🇺🇸
You can clearly see the liner is blown out from spall. I don't understand how you can't come to terms with that yourself instead of trying to push a product that doesn't work as advertised.
I’m not trying to push any product! I’m not getting anything in return. I state in the video that it’s started to come away at the base. It also took 3 AP rounds + more! I don’t know about you, but I would not be standing around to take that many! Maybe you should come to terms with the fact that the average person would be wearing a carrier and not taking multiple AP rounds. So, in my opinion this worked as advertised! It “mitigated the frag”!
Dude do you even see the design on the armor? The Kevlar with the front cover plate is still attached to the steel plate after that beating, containing all the spall within the cover and Kevlar. That front cover is used to contain the kevlar, which the kevlar contains the spall so the spall protection doesnt get shot off like coatings and sleeves. That front cover is containing the spall also, it is just that the kevlar eats most of the energy of the mini bullet explosions. This is the best solution I have seen for the spalling issue with steel armor. Also like he pointed out this wasnt just from 1 or 2 rounds.
kek. You didn't hit it with M193, which, from a 20" barrel, is known for punching through steel plates. It also happens to be the most common rifle threat in America. You didn't use a chronograph, either, so there's no way of telling what velocities you were getting. Lastly, you didn't mention that the "spall liner" was blown out at the bottom of the plate -- anybody wearing that thing would have his groin and legs peppered with fragments.
You really threw that plate a bunch of softballs.
It’s a good job that a 20” barrel isn’t the most common length barrel in America then. But, I can definitely test the plate against M193 I’m not convinced it will make it through. I think you may need to re watch, I do mention that the coating was starting to come away from the plate at the bottom. There wasn’t any evidence that major fragments were coming out of the bottom. As for a chronograph… I’m shooting popular rounds from popular weapons! Seeing as you mentioned “common threats in America” is the common America using a chronograph to test their store bought ammo? Or, are they buying the ammo and shooting it at a target? These are not reloads so they should be pretty consistent every time! A chronograph brings nothing to this test other than make the video longer. Thanks for your input, I will get a M193 tested on both plates and post it!
kek, iraqveteran8888 hit spartan armor ar550 steel plates with m193 out of a 20 inch barrel at 15 feet and they didnt go through.
@@alphawolfgang173 The Leviathan Tribe guy? With a Spartan Armor rep literally standing right next to him? Testing a plate they never weighed, with no chronograph? lmao. Hey, I've got some oceanfront property in Nebraska that I'm looking to sell. You interested?
