them only dancing when she’s not looking at them is impeccable
@@Guest_PlaysYT I think she's just singing with them like the stage version
I agree it's quite amazing ain't it 🤩
I thought that was an interesting detail, it’s like they’d be punished if they were found dancing, but then towards the end the whole circle of kids is dancing?
it was kind of hard to do
@@iminthefrogpondali era uma alucinação, eles estravazando torcendo pelo Bruce, não aconteceu de fato
The choreography, camera movement, tension building, performance…, everything is just spot on!
EASILY the better adapted song
Exactly what I thought about the movie!
🤪🤪🤑
Same! The harmony is incredible as well.
You do know they slowed down the music to give the kids longer between beats to move then sped it up in the final version right? Still good dancing but understandably they used editing to make it look even snappier.
I think one big part of why this movie works as an adaptation of a Broadway musical is that it completely EMBRACES the stage play look and aesthetic. The way the character dance and move, the lighting, framing of the tables around Bruce, and how they start moving reminds me of watching a Broadway musical number. A lot of other movie adaptations seemingly try and hide that it’s based off of a stage musical, but here it’s embraced and used to its fullest extent

That shot of Matilda saying “Don’t let her win,” is so damn cool looking, oh my god I love it.
1:34 it’s so great.
My favorite part!
Yeah, she has _beautiful_ eyes. 😃
Its don't give in but its still a great part
@@latoyacsmith28 It's both. "Whatever you do, just don't give in. Don't let her win."
The direction on this film was incredible! It totally captured the magic you feel watching a theatre musical!
So creative and imaginative
Couldn’t agree more….. topped with the stunning choreography!!! This film should win EVERY Academy award.
Ahhh que haces aquí bellaaa?
Te admiro muchísimo Sol, te mando un abrazo💖
I just watch full movie at my school they let grade 5-6 watch it
i didn't notice this until the second time i watched but i love the detail of the kids only dancing when miss trunchbull isn't looking
Yeah
ikr?
Great catch! I did not notice that! Clever!
1:35 the way she say "don't let her win" is just- I can't describe it it's so good
Facts
When she grows up she's in for some killer roles cause that's one AWESOME death stare
These children have more talent and better singing than any of the movie musicals I’ve seen in years
And everyone in the cast is British except Matilda (Alisha Weir) who is Irish and she’s 13 in real life but Matilda is five
They make sure Matilda kids are next level every time! I love it
Yeah definently !
@@ju2545 No, Matilda is 7
Ikr!
This is the best version of this song. Love it so much! I love that they decided to remove the part where Bruce stopped eating because he's too full and said "It's too much" Matilda stood up and said "go on Bruce, do it!". In the stage show, it looked like Bruce was only able to finish the cake because of Matilda's powers. But in this one, it looks like Bruce won fair and square.
It was Matilda?! I thought it was the newt girl, to reinforce the solidarity between the kids; I actually felt sad the scene was cut because it had felt like such a wholesome moment.
@@laikadeservedbetter4635 I think that scene was replaced with the three close-up shots of Matilda, two of which she sings "whatever you do, just don't give in, don't let her win", cheering Bruce on along with the other students
@@pencokun aw :(
I know she's the protagonist but they could've let one of the other kids have this
Or it could be Matilda was using her powers so he could manage this impossible feat. I always felt that the book and the old movie how these kids managed to survive and compel themselves to do certain things was due to Matilda. I like that this version leaves it up to interpretation, but Matilda looking at Bruce with as much intensity as he does when using her powers gives me that theory. Also in the old movie, I think Matilda used her powers to help lift Amanda over the fence like when she made that boy fly when The Trunchable through him out the window.
@@Lee-np7yz That's likely it; I haven't read the book but the old movie and this one do seem to use Matilda's magic more than the play does
Love how some of the kids are cheering for him while the others are worried about him. Shows all of them are on his side.
Miss Honey cheering in the end ❤
LOL! I laughed that part!😂
and it means so much more once we learn her true relationship with Trunchbull
This part is the most like Willy wonka thing roald Dahl can possible do.
I think he wrote "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" so... maybe he just like kids stuffing their faces with chocolate
@@sparksspace9461 He did. He also wrote the script for the 1971 movie, which he *didnt* like when it was released

The instrumentals in this song…. The horns, piano, saxophone, the electric guitar, all the other great sounds 😍 1:44 is my favorite
i didnt even notice the guitar until i read this (somehow)
The two trumpet chords in the chorus on "cooked her goose" just give me little chills every time.

CRYING BC OF HOW GOOD THIS IS, ALL THE TALENT OF THE CAST I MEAN OMG😭🤧🤍
Thank you I’m crying now to
At one point in the movie I literally tested up
You just put into words what I wanted to say, watching the full film last night. It was stunning!!
Also cried I thought was the only one, was so flawless this part of the movie
Omg I literally also cried watching how great these kids are, glad to know I’m not the only one 🥹
“Cover yourself in chocolate glory” was delivered so greatly.
The actress playing Matilda is so good. The way she stares! And the way she said "dont let her win" gave me chills.
There's simply no way a piece from the Matilda musical about a boy attempting to eat a chocolate cake the size of his torso can so eloquently and spectacularly convey the perfect balance between bitter tension and hope for victory.
Like, the right instrumental remix for this song could potentially be one of my favorite scores for a boss fight of some sort.
The fact that the children’s singing is so great people ignore how Bruce is suffering so much
DID HE ACTUALLY EAT THE REAL CAKE THOUGH-
@@InfectedRedLeila I hope not

IT IS JUST SO GOOD YOU GUYS!! HOLD MEEEE! Thank you for this beautiful adaptation of the musical!AHHHHHH!
thank you im cryin
I’ve watched this movie 3 times already 😂😂😂. I feel like a kid watching this movie I just wonna get up and sing and dance with them! 😅😅😅
Great comment. I just can’t put into words how brilliant this movie. Stunning beyond belief!!
I noticed that the early dance routines had a lot of restricted and stop-and-go body movements. In the film's final dance routine, the performers were using their whole bodies and being very fluid with their movements. Miss Trunchbull was no longer there.
That's a great observation!
oooh I like this interpretation. Yeah the choreo at the beginning is very stuttered, lots of popping and locking and conveying a lot of tension, where all the kids have to be precise and perfect. then it transforms into messier but flowier and more expressive movement. really great choreo all around, the choreography team for this did an astounding job in every single number
The kids looking at Mrs Honey is just a masterpiece
0:08 - The detail with the kids closer to the Trunchbull moving less and being more careful than the kids at the back who move more freely since the Trunchbull won't really see them
Miss Honeys reaction has me in tears 😂
GO ON BRUCEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
"GO ON BRUCEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY"
The choreography in this song is probably my favorite. Especially in the first half when the kids dance only when she isn't looking at them. I am super impressed with this one!
Idk how people can hate this musical, the children’s showcase of talent is unbelievable.
Agreed
Literally.
People are also bitching about how it ruined the original film even though it was supposed to be based on the book.
@@TerabyteOcto it's actually more accurate to the book than that film ever was, lmao
@@TerabyteOcto plus the film was a classic but i just wasn’t much if a but fan of it, the scenes made me feel weird and my autism would act up during the bullying scenes, the musical calms my mind a little more.
SO GOOD!! This whole musical is an amazing movie adaptation vs stage. The choreography the talent the singing ahhh I can't get enough
I love that they really embraced the fact that it’s a musical, and I love how ridiculous it is. I was in Matilda on stage this past weekend, as the escapologist. Everyone moment in the show had the same energy and ridiculousness that this movie had. I love it
This is my favorite song, everything is absolutely brilliant. The choreography, dancing when she doesn't look, costume, lyric, everything is amazing.
I interpreted it as Matilda using her powers to basically like... Make Bruce think everyone was cheering for him. You can see her mouth the words to the song, as she focuses on him, and in the beginning of the song they're doubting him, and arguing whether or not he can eat the cake, but once the room spins and everything is colorful they're nothing but supportive to him
Woah
Maybe she's using telekinesis to move away some of the crumbs.
Yeah I definitely agree she has some part to play here. This and when Amanda got thrown. Any of the times she was staring like that.
But I also think that it's also a bit of that uprising that Trunchbull fears later on. Like they arent openly dancing but behind Trunch's back they're hoping for her downfall.
Matilda was not yet aware of her powers in this scene! This would demand a lot of concentration, so it's unlikely that she did it unwittingly either. But maybe the shiny spinny scenario is in her head like the stories she tells the librarian!
She knew it before she went to school in the original but in the musical she finds out later
This made me smile the whole time!!! its nothing but magic.
Thank you it’s really hard to do
His facial expressions are just so adorable ❤
I agree, Ms. Trunchbull is so cute
@@flap.d.jack247 No, she is talking abt Bruce.
@@drakecaspianbatuhan1831 ever heard of a joke
The scene Bruce eating the chocolate cake always terrifies me all the time that he will be too full after that🥲
I love how supportive they are to each other
I love the tension while watching this part of the show. The intense music, the dramatic questions you ask on your head during this scene, etc. The music really makes me drawn to the movie more, it really shows that such music makes a strong impact on the ratings of the movie.
The look in Matilda's eyes gives me the vibe she might be using her power to help Bruce eat the cake some how
Just now realized the kids vocalizing as the end goes to the tune of the chorus of "War is Over"
These kids are so extra i love it wtf this song is so good.

Yo I keep repeating the video but I can’t find the part where Bruce says “Lyrics.” Thanks anyway 🙌
I love how when they say "Don't give in, don't let her win" It cuts to Matilda so the viewer's can see her hope for Bruce!
2:09 I like the detail that when the camera focuses on tronchbull the children's song becomes sinister
The fact that they went from being serious in school outfits to wearing a literal sparkly version of the outfit
Them referencing the TARDIS was *chefs kiss*
I love how they incorrectly spell his name to indicate that their other teachers didn't teach them anything.
Edit: watching it again, I realized that when they brought out the cake it was 4 tiers, but during the song, it's a 3-tier cake
Maybe forshadowing to the end where there is a spelling bee
the snappy movements are so good to add the tension of the song

1:43 the instruments and sounds in the background at this part are incredible
the fact of the kids not singing and dancing when trunchbull is watching going out the window when the lights come in if hilarious.
Notice at 2:11 Mrs. Trunchbull winks at the camera because she knows that even if he eats the whole cake she is still gonna punish him.

Looks more like an eye twitch due to stress/anger because he was actually going to finish the whole thing.
she did that in the whole movie lol
The songs from Matilda the Musical have no right to be this good
When Bruce flips the cherry I thought Matilda was doing it with her mind at first
It isn't? Usually when Matilda is focusing her powers, her eyes grow wide and her pupils become more dilated, which she is doing throughout the whole song. I was even suspecting that she was somehow helping Bruce consume it without killing him.
@@randomclouds4404 Yeah, it was so interesting to have hints of her powers developing throughout the movie, instead of all at once in the newt scene. She clearly has more than telekinesis, too. Not sure what she could have been doing here, but it's strongly implied she was helping Bruce somehow.

I think it's a cool detail how the kids keep misspelling words throughout the movie when in the spelling test scene Mrs trunchbull is surprised they spelt the words right.
The choreography, in design and execution, is just so... crisp. The music is excellent, the lyrics are awesome, the acting is great from all parties. But the choreo? Absolutely incredible.

Gotta be honest... wasnt expecting the tardis line. Gotta say, as a dr who fan. I was pretty happy with that. Lol
THIS WAS AN AMAZING MOVIE, MUSICAL. I LOVED IT
I always wondered if Bruce’s ability to finish the cake was due to Matilda’s powers willing him to win and that does seem to be the case in this adaptation.
Yeah, this version's choice to close up on her concentrated face was interesting to me, since she isn't even aware of her powers at this point, and in the book it's nowhere implied that she used powers to help him eat -- she just encourages him, which no one else had been brave enough to do.
Okay, but that cake looks delicious.
