Oh, I totally came for the spoilers, David! You made the review just enticing enough without divulging too much, as well as thoroughly entertaining. I was also thinking, "Those perfect circles look like little planets. Neil DeGrasse Tyson would approve!"
Boy, do I agree with you about the difficult shrink wrap. Last year, I was using nail clippers to claw at it. Very frustrating. But aside from that, it is a really fun way to play with ink! And I loved your "chromatography interlude!" The music got me feeling all Christmasy!
What a great way to review the inks with as few spoilers as possible - thank you! My calendar arrived last week and it’s going to be hard to wait until December!
Great review! I was like ohhhhhhhhhh show me the entire 25 days =)). I Definitely going for this Inkvent this year too!! I feel the last year needed more red and the red on this one is gorgeous!!
Mine just arrived today!!! I am so excited!! Thanks so very much for the review….very helpful for me as is the first time i am going to have the pleasure of exploring the calendar and , specially, try the Diamine inks!! I can’t wait for Dec 1st!!
Well done review. Excellent balance of giving information needed and keeping spoilers extremely limited. This was very helpful to me as I had never heard of inkvent.
It looks like everyone who didn't love last year's... admittedly kind of gothy inkvent will have plenty of gorgeous and festive options for card writing this year. I really loved last year's but I can't wait to get those reds.
@@snakkomsex I would be very surprised but the colors are now all for sale. Seize the night, a lovely, dark, almost neutral purple, is now my daily. My favorite sparkly is Storm, which is a thundery blue with almost opalescent shimmer to it. Neither says "Christmas" to me, particularly, but I sure get use out of them.
Advent starts 4 Sundays before Christmas, this year Advent starts on November 27th. We wait for the birth of Christ. Most commercial advent calendars start the first of December because then the box can have a set number of days. We call those calendars Decemberween calendars, instead! I will add 4 little samples to my husbands Inkvent calendar so it will last the whole season. I add extra Legos for my kids. 😊
Ordering mine Friday, is currently being held for us at Truphae. Can not wait. I almost didn’t watch this video because I was nervous about spoilers, but I read a few of the comments that you leave enough meat on the bone that it can still be a surprise come December.
Thanks David. I agree with others that you reviewed with a good feel for the inks without giving too much away. In fact yours was the perfect review since I’ve determined now that I will pass this year. I got the 2021 red last year and absolutely enjoyed the inks and regularly use them in my pen rotation. But I’m worried that if I get another then too many inks will just stay in the cupboard unused. If you are an avid inkofile or you missed out for the last two, I highly recommend getting one.
Makes me wonder how much practical it is.. i might endup with tiny amount of ink in each bottle left over as i cant draw them.. with 23 of them, thats a lot of ink down the drain isn't it?
Thank you David for a very well put together review, as usual. I'm not saying it is overpriced or anything, but it is still an investment, and I don't think I would use them much after the holidays, so personally it is a pass.
I'm a terrible heathen and WILL open all parts in an advent calender in one go 😂 sometimes I have self control and don't do that and it is fun buuuuuttt..
I would not categorize the sent as strong. I'm sure the strength can differ depending on your sense of smell, but it wasn't something I really noticed when opening up the bottle. I had to sniff it close to get the smell.
@@karidru5272 Me too. But I understand they need to try and find something different. I had a really bad reaction to Thunderbolt last Inkvent so sometimes it appears it can just be the additives.

I absolutely love this review. And the music during the chromatography? That truly set my mood upward and straight into a Christmas spirit!!

Great job of adding excitement without spoiling the surprise.

Same! I deliberately kept it in the plain protective box so I wouldn’t be visually tempted.
I just got an Advent calendar from Sam's club with beer in it! 😁🍺
I have my order in, looking forward to this Advent season, and this one will be very colorful.
Yes, do compliment yourself for the circles and the choice of Christmasy music for the chromatography too! 👏🎄🎅🏻🎁👍
The chromatography interlude was so incredibly delightful.

Great job doing the review without spoilers! 👍 Very excited for the chameleon ones! 😍

Thank you for sharing this review! I love how the chameleon sheen inks looked.
Neat inks. The blue kind of reminds me of Birmingham Pens' Ultramarine, which is one of my favorite inks.
6:43 WOW! Looks like their Firefly ink x10!
8:50 Great choice in music! I always gets excited when I hear christmas music lol
They should do this but for Inktober.
Day 1: Dip pen + ink + prompt
Day 2-30: ink + prompt
Day 31: Big ink bottle + prompt

Now I really want last years as well :) I wonder if anyone still has it for sale?

Great review David. Of those 4, I'm most intrigued by the red chameleon ink. Also LOVE that black Sakura pen 🖊 😍
I've been debating for weeks whether to get this from my local pen store. Thanks for the review 😁

I just ordered the red one and the green one (both still available where I live) and I can't wait to try them!
Aloha David, great vid and quality, as always. I was wondering if the particles are a clogging hazard for your FP's?

I have mine sitting on the desk. Looking forward to opening it up. I’m not sure if I will try each one on the dates or try all one day at one time.
I cannot wait to get this… even though I haven’t used or used up last years. 😅😅

I think the finish on that MZG 2.0 is the Sea Anemone. Looks really good. I may have to pick one of those up. They should be out soon.
Have you done a black ink video? I can only use black ink in my job. I typically use Aurora Black.
I love the chromatography! it's always my favorite part of these reviews!
Agreed I had a hell of a time getting those packaging off last year and I thought maybe they will improve it this year NOPE THEY DIDNT oh well
I'm a terrible heathen and WILL open all parts in an advent calender in one go 😂 sometimes I have self control and don't do that and it is fun buuuuuttt..
Will these inks be in production or are they exclusive to this set?
As far as I know, they tend to determine the popular ones from each year and then put those ones into big bottle limited production.
Great review! My big question is, how strong is the scent on the scented ones? Is it like opening a bottle of perfume or is it faint?
This is exactly what I’m curious about too.
I would not categorize the sent as strong. I'm sure the strength can differ depending on your sense of smell, but it wasn't something I really noticed when opening up the bottle. I had to sniff it close to get the smell.
Thanks! That’s what I needed to know.
Would it be possible to let me know how many scented inks there are? They give me breathing issues and I wanted to know if its still worth my while.
There was only two or three...and I wouldn't categorize the scent as overly strong.
@@FigbootonPens "not strong" doesn't matter much if you're straight up allergic. I wish they hadn't snuck those in.
@@karidru5272 They are clearly labeled on the side of each bottle, so they would be easy to avoid.

Lol, you know you have fallen down the fountain pen rabbit hole when you you’re thinking about buying this
I'm chattering my teeth til December 1st
Advent is a looking for the coming of Christ.
