@whitedime Foam rolling followed by static stretching can be much more effective then either alone. Don't neglect stretching, foam roll is not meant to replace and static stretching especially during 'phase one' workouts actually is (for most people) necessary to help the muscle repair, align/grow properly, and to, most importantly, STAY THAT WAY. Higher phase workouts don't need static stretching but that doesn't mean one never does it again either.
I had read that as well, but I'd also found information on massage therapy being used on clients with fibromyalgia with great success. I took a chance on a few of my clients who have fibro and it helped their chronic pain a great deal.
Could this routine be done BEFORE working out (powerlifting) or should this be done after workouts/off days? I really like the routine, feel so much better after rolling these spots. Many thanks.
I've heard the same thing TS500ER that you shouldn't foam roll before training. I think it was Bill Hartman that said it in an audio I was listening to. So, I think it depends on the source and your goals. I think if your a little achy or not completely warmed up then I don't think you can go wrong with a little rolling before training.
Thats only a contraindication to an existing medical condition. You could say that for anything eg. "Don't use it on your legs if your leg is broken" or " Dont roll your shoulder with the ball if you have bad tendinitis" There's no reason not to be doing any of this stuff unless you yourself have a medical defect.
Very good but I you should not talk in such a stressy way... the idea is to relax not to train a terminator! put some zen music, talk nicely and with lower speed and please get that vacuum off!!!
Is somebody running a vacuum cleaner like 6 feet away from him?
The best foam rolling warm-up I ever saw. Thank you Eric, I will incorporate it into my every day's warm-up / joint mobility.

Thanks for the video. I love reading your articles on T-Muscle magazine.
The background noise is insanely high!
Great video! I will look into purchasing something as I have a "rum" lumbar that could do with some attention.
@Kampkunstner just go to a hardware store and get either 3 or 4 inch PVC pipes. those should be available everywhere
Cool! Thanks. I have the book but this helps tremendously visualizing the description!

I'm a huge fan of this warm up
Just stumbled upon this demonstration. Are these stretches done before lifting? Is the thought behind this therapy to aid with muscle soreness?
@KDub1961 See "Self Myofascial Release". In short, yes, this is a component of muscle realignment and repair.
great ab work
ugh this looks so awesome but i know im not ganna remember any of it by the time i get to the gym
Absolutely awesome video!
why sould i do this exercice?
What kind of ball is that? can I use a round hard plastic hockey ball?
Should you do this BEFORE or AFTER your workouts?!?
@cljfox Its a lacrosse ball. If that is too hard for you then downgrade to a street hockey ball.
What size is that Roller? I want to order 1 or 2 from the US. as here in Norway we dont have foam rollers for sale.
sticks?
Is someone vacuum cleaning? seriously.
No hamstrings?
can this be done with a tennis ball instead ?
great video!
Great video instructions wish they had turned the crazy background noise off. Still great stuff.
Great Video! Thanks for sharing!

Great vid, thanks.

Great video but be very careful about the foam roller on your spine. A very big no no especially if you have osteoporosis or osteopina
hamstrings are usually better with sticks than foam rollers
2:20 below knees
3:30 arches of the feet
i can feel my muscles getting worked just watching this
Good stuff.
guess you just couldn't wait until the vacuum cleaner was a little further than five feet away?
before and after
Well done,
