    I find stuff with orbital things in it but i'm definitely not in Madagascar. I also find stuff with lines going through it similar to picasso stones, but my understanding is picasso stones are soft and can be scratched with a knife, where mine cannot be. Some are black with brown and white streaks through them. I find them throughout the cascade range.

    I recently became rather enticed by various jaspers after mainly collecting various quartz stones and crystals. They seem so soothing!

    I live in Westport Washington. I know of a spot were I find allot of beach Jasper, some agates, citrine quartz and snow quarts. So far I have a 5 gallon bucket filled of all sorts of what I have found. I want to get a rock tumbler and clean them up. Some look so cool.

    To make sure they are real, I usually pay attention to not just the appearance but the sounds jasper crystals make against each other. I shake them in my hand like dice, and they should create the sound hers made in the video. After testing it for a sound I check the crystals, there shouldn't be any scratches on the jasper crystals, just the same clean polished look as before.

    2:32 "I don't know what you call 'em, eye designs, circular patterns"...
    Answer: Orbicular Patterns (more common in Agates than Jaspers though & there is a mineral group of Jasper Agates which include Ocean Jasper Agates & Agates always have Orbicular patterns beneath the surface, it just depends sometimes if the carver is good enough to polish them down to bring these patterns to the surface & even expose caverns of druse covered orbicular honeycomb clusters) Here, they haven't done a great job.

    I hate it when people l don't know correct me on something. So please don't take this as "oh another smart ass" because l am not. Great upload, you have some really beautiful stones too. I just wanted to point out that though your beautiful coloured jasper is beautiful, it is only called Mookite if it is from Mooka Station in Western Australia. I know l'm just splitting hairs. But l am learning about stone in general (and as mookite is local to me) you can just add this to your knowledge bank or delete it if you want. Once again thanks for taking the time to make your video. Cheers

      No offense taken, and there are so many varieties of jasper I don't do extensive research on all. I use this site as a great source for verification www.mindat.org/min-27597.html and yes, they confirm what you say. And I checked my supplier's sources on their pricing sheet and what they are selling me as "mookaite" is sourced in Australia (they don't give me further geographical lineage than that.) ~Chrisy

    I know this is and older posting, but I'm trying to identify a gem stone I just acquired. It looks Just like a Zebra Jasper, but with Dark Olive and black stripes. The pattern with in the stone is exactly like the Zebra Stone's. The dark olive color is where the white woul be on a Zebra Jasper. And the green muddy looking. The stripes are uniform, and close to straight lines. Could it be Jasper two? I havent seen anything like it anywhere.Any input would be appreciated. Thank's a bunch.

    • @ChrisyBossie
      @ChrisyBossie  5 років тому

      Jasper is inexpensive, so I've never heard of it being lab grown...it's not worth the trouble. Dyed gemstones will have super saturated colors that can look like they've bled into a stone like color dye onto fabric, as opposed to natural looking color patterns and more muted color.

      No. I've never heard of mosaic jasper and everything coming up under google images looks like fake dyed stuff from China....much like "rainbow calsilica" which is nothing more than layered paint.
