So nice to read so many people being so nice and positive about Ollie ,I’ve known the guy 20 odd years ,when he was making his dads coffin ( whilst he was still alive ) it’s how he got so into woodwork ,but he had been living in a horse box lorry for a good few years at that point already,he ran a festival cafe for a few years converting that horse box ,then a double decker ,then an old school blim bus to serve the food from ,,all absolutely beautifully done, anyway everyone is correct he is a great guy
Wow, awesome home!!! I so admire people who are happy living this way. If I didn’t own my home, I could never afford to buy one now. Thankfully, when I bought my house, it was a reasonable price. Now, here in Atlantic Canada, the prices have soared. I’d pay at least 6x what I paid for this one. I thank God every day for my home, I see people my age (almost 69) who live on what I get in pensions and can’t imagine having to pay rent out of that amount. Thank you for sharing. It’s a real gem. Much continue happiness to you!
"Paying a lot to stay still" says it all. We live in a crazy ponzi scheme that is crushing people. I live in a house (bought dirt cheap yrs ago) and like you i reuse the water. I save my shower water in a bucket. I use that to flush the toilet. I have a tub in my sink. I tip the dirty water onto the garden. I built several wicking beds to grow my food. They are very economical with water. My service charge is higher than my water consumption! I am converting my weedy verge back to native plants. More natural habitat for native insects, reptiles, mammals and birds is so important. Simple is better. Thankyou for gt video
Cool setup Ollie. "Labour intensive not money intensive". Absolutely bang on sir 💪🏻 I love the garden platform at the rear. Must be a great place to chill out 😎
What a lovely and peaceful home, I would LOVE to live like this. I absolutely hate living in a house and the constant letters coming through the door. I work full time just to keep my house going and then can’t afford to actually do anything else. A house is such a burden!
Love it Ollie didn’t realise you were in a horse box, I totally agree with all you said and yes my favourite thing is the birds and being right there with nature, great video loved it 😍
*Now **_this_** is what I would call **_grounded_** living! . . .* 👌 (PS: The woodburning stove (oven), is a Norwegian made 'Jøtul' (eng. 'Joetul'), it has for _generations_ been one of the most popular of it's type here in my country, in everything from small cabins and apartments (and even to bigger houses), and it's indeed a very, very effective heating source! . . . )
I completely relate to Ollie with the bad back thing. It’s awful and when you are floored for weeks it’s awful. I love the horsebox build - it’s so cozy and a very easy life indeed. I totally agree with the eco and simple life. It makes you realise how disconnected we are from nature and slaves to the system.
I love this guys whole ethos. People get so caught up in possessions and having all the latest fashion/tech cars etc. look how relaxed and at peace he is. He’s got life Sussed out
I love Ollie's decorating style! Especially the wooden shelves with the curved cut-outs for headroom. Genius. I've lived in a 40' office trailer turned tiny house for over 30 years. Great video! Thanks
Been wanting to do this for years, and all the stuff that Ollie so beautifully and openly talks about has always appealed to me. This is true freedom ❤
Very well put. About how people live how we were told to live and when people step out of it others don't easily accept it. This is really neat. I have a skoolie and I get it. Peace of mind. Love it❤
Hi,you're my kind of person,no frills, what for? Half our lives is spent getting the material things we think brings us happiness, and exist, your on to it,less really is the best.I really like your place it's really an extension of you enjoy,I know you will😊
I agree. I just built a 8x16 and not going from pay check to paycheck . It’s not my job to convince people. They want to waste money is there beliefs and this is mine. We are all different
Lovely guy and a lovely living space he has created. I would have to have a seperate basin for my dishes and washing myself though. Enjoy watching these videos, in my bus in Aotearoa New Zealand, whist knitting my son some socks.
Lovely abode. 😍 But nothing was said about the 'legal' set up: is the land private? Is it just a rented place? As usual, the hardest part of living on a spot long term, is to overcome the local rules and regulations... 🤕 Anyway, this truck is a gem and it's owner a great inspiration for sustainable living. 👏
Um nothing is ever mentioned. Long term park up, toilet nearby, plugged into electric? Surrounded with trailers. Why do they never ask about the land. Owned, rented, or do you just rock up and hope for the best? Council tax? Too many unanswered questions.
@@Trishawitchqueeni think he said that his workshop was nearby and that he had a toilet there. I'm always curious about the address that they use for their bank accounts etc. There are always questions about how you do this in practice, but maybe there are reasons for not discussing that in a video. He's probably living on a friend's land or maybe his parents'. The next video I watched by this channel was about a guy who openly said that formally, he was living with his parents, but did full-time van life. Lucky for him. (Even if you have parents who let you do that, in some countries, it would have financial consequences for the parents. Their pensions might be lowered because there is income from a third person at the address, stuff like that.)
This is something that's often not talked about and something I've been looking into for a while now. It seems that it's quite difficult to find land that you can just live on without either jumping through a lot of hoops, trying to hide somewhere for years on end and dodging the council or just paying a lot of money. I'm guessing some people find a way to do it and don't really want it publicised too much since we all know once the masses get involved things get ruined. It's certainly not quite as easy as some make it out to be.
Great! I'm jealous! I lived nextdoor to the Isle of Wight for about two decades, but I only made it over to Cowes once and that's it. Walked to the east, and back, walked to the west, and back, had lunch. I always was curious what the rest of it was like.
Hubs and I moved to a tiny cabin on land purchased by land contract and paid off in five years. we are on social security so no work but it is 384 sq ft and two of us and a dog. we have a little greenhouse. I gardened on a hillside behind the cabin. the less I have the less I realize I need. I feel so bad for those who cannot find the peace that living minimally can bring. The most common thing I hear is that they need more space to entertain relatives at Christmas. One of the most glorious things about this is that I can have day visits but no overnight or long term till they get on their feet visits ha ha it frees me to say NO
For 8 years, I've lived in a tiny house I built on a 24'x8' trailer. It has 2 upstairs bedrooms, each with a balcony. Downstairs, there is a living room, kitchenette, bathroom, and toilet. Downstairs ceiling height is 2m and upstairs, 1.6m. As I'm a shortie of 1.58m, it's comfortable. There are, of course, road height limits. My house is situated on a farm, where I do 2 hrs work/5, to 'pay' for site and power. I've been 'retired' nearly 4 years. I keep all my pension and live very comfortably. I'm confident that my house would be suitable for a very small family, or a place to live, while saving for a house, when then it could be sold, or sited on the purchased property, to be rented, and thus pay part of the mortgage. I hope this is inspirational to some.

You have it right Ollie: the only one you have to please is yourself and you seem to be doing that very well.
“Just fills my cup” excellent description of my nomadic life as well! Carry on, great video and subject! Great work Ollie!!
Ollie seems like a really down to earth sweet man. I love his comment about choosing his future instead of place and things making the choice for him

Yeah, I wondered too. (In the Netherlands, he'd very likely be breaking the law.)

What a lovely man.
