    So very scenic and the waterfalls are absolutely astonishing ! Enjoy and do not use the heater in the Landy .. .. .. LOL !!

      It is incredibly beautiful, but the heat is massive struggle. We though we selected the worst heat wave in spring for the visit. But seeing now in the news the level of the water at the falls and how they had to close the park, I am grateful we were able to see it full with clean clear water. Despite the heat!

    It's good to reminded about what parts, spares and tools to take when you go on an expedition.

      Yeah a belt is cheap, easy to install and small I had one in every car. Cause if it fails you don’t go anywhere. 😉

      They are incredibly beautiful. The Victoria Falls are very impressive from the size, sound and the shower one gets, but this one wins in landscape surrounding them. The rainforest is a paradise. I didn't mention it in the video, but also the water was really clean. For many years it happened that the water was red, this was due to deforestation up river. The water would run on bare soil, dragging the red sediments down the falls! Clean water means, better forest preservation!

      Glad to do so! We didn't know about the Jesuit Missions until we talked to very nice people in Montevideo and told us about the history! And yes, the waterfalls are incredible 😍

    With your air filter full of water, did you check to see if any water entered your sump oil? I would see if there was any emulsion there. If so an immediate drain of sump and a new oil filter. Driving with this water oil mix in the sump, will not be noticeable until inevitably cause an engine failure.

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  11 місяців тому

      Hey Philip, I checkt the air filter after the incident and it was dry, the intake is sealed up to the snorkel. I would be surprised I water would enter. The oil was also in a good state. We anyways did a scheduled oil change 1000km afterwards

    Vehicles that have cloth seats - always recommended to have seat covers that can be removed and easily cleaned as needed.

      It makes sense I guess, but we really don't like them anyway and theta re getting destroyed after so much use. Most probably we will have to replace them after the trip 🤔

    Very nice video..I have been to Niagara falls which are huge but the falls you were at were great to....45 C is like 114f.... that's hot..do you ever get a hotel to get cooled down?

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  11 місяців тому +1

      Thank you!! We were both also in Niagara Falls and we have to say that we found Victoria Falls in Zambia more impressive. The Iguazú Falls are beautiful because of the rainforest around them. It is really like being in Avatar. Temperatures were extreme. We actually never got a hotel due to heat, we work with cold showers, and in extreme cases we use wet towels to cover us (we did this in Iran several times as we had 34°C at night). You can check the videos about it! That was hard core.

    Lovely video. Made me want to visit Argentina.
    Not sure if this is also true of your Defender, but on our 2009 Puma it was possible to fit a tap to the hose carrying hot coolant to the heater and block the flow. This meant the air coming out of the ventilation vents is cooler, so our air-conditioning is colder, which is a good thing here in the Australian summer, where it is 32 degrees. Might be worth trying.

      From the top of my head this should be possible but I would need to take a look at the diagraming the circuit

    Any chance that you can do 4k uploads? Because these days, YT gives viewers bad quality 1080p, then charges us to get good quality 1080. They call it "Premium 1080p". If you upload 4k, we will be able to get the high quality videos simply by selecting higher resolutions. They only sell premium 1080 in videos that are not higher than 1080, because you can't bypass by selecting a higher solution.

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  9 місяців тому +1

      Hey Nicholas! The 1080p is the standard, not worse or bad quality. The premium is better yes. We did two videos in 4k and it was a nightmare to deal with file size, edit and export the final video. We did it because it was during our stay at the farm so we we could limit the number of files in 4k. If we do it all the time , we would run out of hardrives pretty fast. 😵

    What an amazing trip! The waterfalls are so impressive and a wonderful way to cool down in the heat. Glad the Bluelandy recovered so well! How is your experience with the Scrubba wash bag? Does it work? Thanks for sharing your journey! Oliver

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  11 місяців тому

      Hey Oliver! The falls are espectacular 😍 we loved the setting so much with the rainforest and the animals/insects everywhere. And the many "Saltos" in the region are the perfect way to cool down. The scrubba is worth every penny, it is a lot more effective than hand wash! We got it as a present from very good friends and we cannot look back, we will take it always in our trips.

    Love your videos! I'm a sucker for everything South America, so couldn't wait for this leg of your journey to start. With the decision not to go through Brasil, I assume (and hope) you'll be crossing the Andes into Chile as well? It's my favourite of the South American countries as it offers a bit of everything. The story goes that when god created the earth, on the last day he still had leftovers from all parts of the world. He decided to hide these neatly behind the Andes mountain range. That's how Chile was born with all its natural variety and beauty. You should visit it when you are in the area... ;)
    Many decades ago, whilst I was at Uni, we did a 7 week 10k km road trip around Chile covering everything from the Island of Chiloe to the Atacama desert. Impressive and one day I will certainly return. Your videos are an inspiration!

      Thank you si much for watching! We are enjoying this part of the trip so so much. It's a lot more relaxed than what we gave done until now, in terms of borders, wild camping, etc. We always have heard that about Chile! But wait until we show you Argentina, you are going to be willing to come here ASAP. But, don't worry, Chile is in our plans starting January, we will do from South to North 🤸 any specific place we should not miss? Would love to hear your recommendations 🤗

      My personal favourite is the semi-desierto around La Serena and most importantly the Valle del Elqui which is a very spiritual place. The word goes that extraterrestrials landed here and that in parts of the roads the cars engine will cut out due to a gap in the earth's magnetic field...😮
      Take it with a pinch of salt and just enjoy the magnificent landscape, the Pisco factories and the Laguna's deeper in the valley.
      Another beautiful area is around Frutillar with a beautiful history. It is today Chile's main agricultural area. It used to be complete wasteland and in the 19th century they would not know what to do with the land. They heard about German people being very efficient (bloody stereotypes😂) so they brought some in to cultivate the land... You still see the German heritage in some of the buildings and I will never forget my dinner in a restaurant called "Helmut's Kneipe" where Chilean girls served dressed in traditional Bavarian outfits and cuckoo clocks on the walls... Magnificent!😂

      Argentina is absolutely bonkers. We are enjoying it like no other place, as it has nearly alll landscapes (not many sand deserts) and it is very comfortable to travel. The temperature was extreme, it was sad not to be able to continue towards Brazil Paraguay, but it was not realistic at all.
