Great to see these Land Rovers doing the job they were built for. I rode cross country in a 2 door Rangie near Glenorchy about 30 years back. Love the car, love the country and love the Kiwis, especially the gorgeous lady driving it, who’d just taken us on a jet boat safari up the Dart.

    I like your stuff.
I’ve just come back to NZ after 37yrs across the ditch. I brought my 2005 Kia Sorento BL 3.5L V6 Manual with me - built in the day when Kia were making genuine off-road 4WDs with a ladder frame chassis.
Its got some extra lights, upgraded Bilstein Shocks with Dobinson Springs, slighly bigger LT ATR tyres, a snorkel and diff breathers. There’s an awning, maxtracks and a shovel on the roof. All within GVM. It has just passed local VINZ Compliance.
I don’t thrash it. It's an outback tourer and i have a new off-road pod trailer with some camping gear onboard. I anticipate it may well manage some of the gentle yet remote trecks you guys are driving in your Brit veterans.
See you on the track sometime.

@@jmpersonal2402 such a shame that most of the British car industry from the 60s and 70s has rotted away. Strikes, crap steel; and some truly awful engines.
I've had several series Landrovers and an old Range Rover; and as much as I loved them; I equally hated them.
I'm not a mechanic, and don't want to be one. But to own one of these classics; well, you have to be. So unreliable! But don't they look nice!

In the late 19th century, simple huts provided “shelter from the storm” were scattered all over the NZ backcountry. They included huts used by farmers and sheep musters, miners and road-builders. Today they are mainly used by hikers, hunters and 4x4 explorer's.

    • @TheEulerID
      @TheEulerID 4 місяці тому +2

There are similar huts in the UK. They are called bothies, and the great majority are to be found in Scotland, but they also exist in the more remote parts of Wales, England and Northern Ireland. They are very basic, but free for all comers. However, they are strictly for trekkers. Nobody drives to them.
There are about a hundred of them, and all looked after by volunteers, mostly members of the Mountain Bothies Association. Despite being looked after by the MBA, the association only owns two of them. All the rest are in private ownership and are used with the agreement of the owners.
      Of course donations are welcomed.

Take those stupid air filters off that Range Rover and put the proper air filter box back on all those cone filters do it suck in mud and water

Appreciate the concern, but Brads got the mud and water under control. Let's leave the filter fashion to the cars, shall we?

Think you may be right Jonathan! It's just the inner boy racer coming out trialling something different but think I'll revert back to standard

if you can get to curtis memorial hut you can get to the st Winfred's hut about another bumpy 2 hours up the valley stick to the true left until you get over the big shingle scree then drop off the scree pays to go for a walk to find a good line after that

    This was an awesome trip!🏔🏔
Few things work as well when they get older, as they did when they were new. The Land Rover is one of the few!
This was worth the wait Hayden.
    Thanks for posting this.👌🙏👍
