- At the first VOICES OF LATIN ROCK Show, I attend rehearsals and interview Los Mocoscos, then Chepito Areas, Neal Schon, Mike Carabello then run into Gregg Rolie and Mike Shrieve, plus Abel Sanchez -- all arriving to play in a special one-off appearance that night. Plus people hanging at the event rehearsals with the VOLR House band. Plus the original Santana guys rehearse also with Myron Dove ex-Santana bassist ...Santana on the spotstuff starts at around 8:00 minutes in....
This is historic....practically all the band members from Woodstock!
Hey Jimbo. Thanks for putting this out here. Simply great stuff. Legendary....
THIS IS GREAT.
Dang. Sounds like Chepito has it out for Carlos. Were those bodyguards or hanger-ons on him?
I'm listening to Neal Schon again on here. He said that early Journey was " jam band " ....and " didn't have much structure"? I saw the early Journey band live at least a dozen times back then , from the their 1st show on Dec. 31st, 1973 up until they got Perry. They were very structured and tight. Neal Schon was playing his solos , the same runs , the same structure as he did on the first 3 albums. I doubt Anysley Dunbar and Ross Vallery would agree with him on that. They were very structured and tight together. A jam band is something like the Carlos Santana / Buddy Miles live album, where they take a 2 chord groove and play it for 20 minutes. Early Journey wasn't like that at all.
I'll take this over the band that Santana has now any day !.........with Carlos of course......if he'd only ditch that PRS and go back to playing Gibson's again.
