She is truly fits the cliche "underrated" when she was compared to ( a famous talented songwriter but sucked singing) she was thankful. I thought " what?" why not compare her to Barbara Streisand or Marylin Mcoo.
If anyone sees this and knows Wendy, please pass this on to her. First sorry to hear about Martin's passing. I'll say a prayer. I never met Martin, but I know Wendy from Woodside High. I had a band named the Winfield Trust. We also played the Fillmore, Winterland, Avalon Ballroom, Straight Theatre (Haight Ashbury). My band was asked to play a private party for Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones) and Rod Stewart in 1971 in North Beach. When our keyboard player left to join the Navy, I went to Wendy's parents' house one afternoon to ask her to play keyboards for us. While there, Mike Shrieve showed up. Mike and I got into an argument, and I left. Wendy didn't end up joining our band. Recently I moved permanently to Guadalajara MX. And I am currently forming a Nu Latin Band. We don't have a keyboard player yet. Always wanted to say hi to Wendy. Harry "Cosmo" Long (UA-cam channel "Flyt 143" same name for SoundCloud).
Always loved her voice on Love Devotion and Surrender, also on " In your Heart" on the Giants album. What a GREAT song....so moving. Greatest era of the music I love that inspires me for a lifetime. . I'm glad I got to see Santana live in 1973...I wish Wendy was on stage with them. I was born in Redwood City and although a few years younger I remember those great days back then too.
Windy Haas is one my all time favorite female vocalist and singers l grow up mid 70s my mother introduced me to the Chicano/latin Rock sound my moms Record collection was Incredible Santana Malo War Azteca El Chicano Chango Sapo Fania All Stars windy vocals on the Azeca Albums and Santans Album Welcome were so beautiful and a perfect Fit to there sound that still to this when l hear them they still sound fresh and beautiful great interview thank you windy for your wonderful soul and Voice thats sill bering me so much Joy !!! P.s you look wonderful!!!❤
I'm thrilled that Wendy mentioned her musical relationship with Doug Rauch. He's my all time favorite bass player and who's style I've always tried to emulate. I didn't hear about his death until I just started rehearsing with a band in the summer of 1980, at some old warehouse / storage units building near the 7th St Greyhound station in San Francisco. A couple of the musicians there knew him and I asked if anyone had seen him lately. That's when I first heard about his death. Blew me away like I'd been kicked in the stomach.
Thank you for this interview. She is one of my earliest vocal influences. She's so humble but I don't feel like she really appreciates how amazingly talented ahe actually is. What a voice, what a talent.
I lived in Redwood City too, near Goodwin Elementary, not far from Woodside Plaza. Both of my older sisters went to Woodside HS One of my older sisters was friends with Lydia Pence. She used to come over to our house, but I was only in the 1st grade !......Even at 6 years old, I played bass with a left handed badmitten racquet, pretending to be Paul McCartney.
Wendy's work on Welcome is nothing short of magical--it was like she was one of the Northettes. Amanda Parsons, Barbara Gaskin, Ann Rosenthal, and Wendy Haas, right?
Her backing and singing is magical; i.e., “When I Look Into Your Eyes,” and “Love Not Then.”🤗

Love not then. One of my All Time favorite songs.
Santana ''Love devotion surrender' from the Welcome album brought me here...Wendy's singing is sublime (as is the whole song)
Spectacular artist

My beautiful talented cousin♥️
Great interview, the Freudian Slips played at Woodside HS while I was there, in fact I lived on the same street as Wendy, but didn’t know her
