Wendy's work on Welcome is nothing short of magical--it was like she was one of the Northettes. Amanda Parsons, Barbara Gaskin, Ann Rosenthal, and Wendy Haas, right?

If anyone sees this and knows Wendy, please pass this on to her. First sorry to hear about Martin's passing. I'll say a prayer. I never met Martin, but I know Wendy from Woodside High. I had a band named the Winfield Trust. We also played the Fillmore, Winterland, Avalon Ballroom, Straight Theatre (Haight Ashbury). My band was asked to play a private party for Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones) and Rod Stewart in 1971 in North Beach. When our keyboard player left to join the Navy, I went to Wendy's parents' house one afternoon to ask her to play keyboards for us. While there, Mike Shrieve showed up. Mike and I got into an argument, and I left. Wendy didn't end up joining our band. Recently I moved permanently to Guadalajara MX. And I am currently forming a Nu Latin Band. We don't have a keyboard player yet. Always wanted to say hi to Wendy. Harry "Cosmo" Long (UA-cam channel "Flyt 143" same name for SoundCloud).

I'm listening to Neal Schon again on here. He said that early Journey was " jam band " ....and " didn't have much structure"? I saw the early Journey band live at least a dozen times back then , from the their 1st show on Dec. 31st, 1973 up until they got Perry. They were very structured and tight. Neal Schon was playing his solos , the same runs , the same structure as he did on the first 3 albums. I doubt Anysley Dunbar and Ross Vallery would agree with him on that. They were very structured and tight together. A jam band is something like the Carlos Santana / Buddy Miles live album, where they take a 2 chord groove and play it for 20 minutes. Early Journey wasn't like that at all.

Richard Kermode.....what a great player. As good as Tom Coster is, there was a huge keyboard hole in Santana after Richard left in 1974. Richard had a great feel for Latin jazz and that salsa groove. Not bad for kid from Buffalo, NY! RIP........died much too young.

I'm thrilled that Wendy mentioned her musical relationship with Doug Rauch. He's my all time favorite bass player and who's style I've always tried to emulate. I didn't hear about his death until I just started rehearsing with a band in the summer of 1980, at some old warehouse / storage units building near the 7th St Greyhound station in San Francisco. A couple of the musicians there knew him and I asked if anyone had seen him lately. That's when I first heard about his death. Blew me away like I'd been kicked in the stomach.

Always loved her voice on Love Devotion and Surrender, also on " In your Heart" on the Giants album. What a GREAT song....so moving. Greatest era of the music I love that inspires me for a lifetime. . I'm glad I got to see Santana live in 1973...I wish Wendy was on stage with them. I was born in Redwood City and although a few years younger I remember those great days back then too.

I'll take this over the band that Santana has now any day !.........with Carlos of course......if he'd only ditch that PRS and go back to playing Gibson's again.

KPIX aired several bands performing live in 1971 (summer?). I watched Box Scaggs (who had very long hair at that time) perform on KPIX TV with a high school friend. Good times. I bet KPIX has quite a cool vault of musicians playing live in their studio.

Moony. Personally, my 3rd most fave drummer -- after 1. Jon Hiseman and 2. Buddy Rich. A Special mention 🏅 goes to Mitch Mitchell for his matchless work with Hendrix. What I see as Moon's ADD/ADHD explains to me the vast majority of what was going on with Keith. By the way, on the album, VOICES IN LATIN (the Barbara Moore Singers) -- SOMETHIN' COOL, I feel sure that one of the uncredited session players is guitarist, Larry Coryell! What say you? Also, in case you are not familiar with the album, Gypsy -- In the Garden, it is my favorite "Latin-rock" album that is NOT by a Latino band! I recently learned that they were out of Minnesota. All of these years, I just figured that they were out of Florida! Mainly, because Joe Lala is a guest musician on the above-mentioned album -- and because of the music itself, of course. Also recently learned that (purportedly) Hendrix flipped a coin to decide who was going to be his Experience drummer-- between Mitchell and Aynsley Dunbar!! Dunbar needs to write an autobiography (or have a biography written), if he hasn't already! For me, SOMETHIN' COOL is, not exactly, but a sort of wanna-be Brazil '66 album -- albeit more jazzy sounding. But, I enjoy it now even more than when I first heard it over 30 or 35 years ago. 🥳! It's available on UA-cam. P.S.Maybe you can recognize who the drummer is? He's uncredited, also, on the album cover.

@@TheMacasso Next Day: The best "unknown" drummer that I have ever stumbled upon was (is?) a Stephen Bacon who played for Whalefeathers, a band out of Dayton or Cleveland, Ohio. I have not been able to find ANY info on Mr. Bacon. They released two self-titled albums (presumably, on 2 different labels), both in 1970. This century, a live album was assembled of two of their performances. They do an EXACT DUPLICATE of the Yardbirds version of, "The Sky Is Crying"!!! Well, not exactly true. Actually, not true at all! But, it did get your attention, for a sec!! Besides that song, they do a pretty good version of, "World of Pain" -- although at 8 minutes plus, overly-long for a little song like that. All three of their albums are available on UA-cam. So anyway, check out that drummer, if you haven't already. See if you don't agree with me that Stephen "sizzles" 🥓 !!!
